Lions have expressed interest in RB Michael Bush from the Raiders... (1 Viewer)

THat would be a great deal for both teams..

Raiders would get great value out of thier 2007 4th and Det would get a sleeper RB

I'd really like this for the Lions.

Yeah, it may be a gamble, but Detroit's pretty screwed at RB anyway. Bush is potentially an elite talent, and the Lions really need a power guy/workhorse.

If the Lions do this and Bush pans out, and Cherilus solves the RT problem, they could really have the whole puzzle put together offensively. Of course, they're going to have the worst front seven in the league and the offense will never get on the field, but when it does...

I have a feeling that if Bush was potentially an elite talent OAK would be more inclined to keep him.

I don't understand why the Lions would want to give up a 3rd+ for a RB that hasn't played in 2 years. Yes, he might be good but that seems like alot to give up to a team that arguably has to dump a back or two. I would be more inclined to draft a back from what's left or sign a FA.

I truly believe it doesn't matter what they do, the move will be bad.

Brandon Albert, probably the 2nd best O-lineman in the draft, falls to them at 15 and they trade out of the pick so they can draft a different o-lineman that would have been there at 28. After missing out on Steve Hutchinson by one pick and drafting Jeff Backus as a consolation prize a few years back, you'd think they'd understand that a mediocre lineman will bring you mediocre returns and a potential ProBowl lineman will put you in the playoffs. But no, not these morons. I swear I heard circus music playing when they showed the Lion's war room.

That being said, Kevin Smith is sitting there and will be available with their next pick. I would much rather take a shot with him and have it cost us 1 pick than trade a 3rd and something else for Bush, who was a 4th rd pick last year and hasn't proven he can stay healthy. If the Lions do draft Smith though, I'll instantly know I am wrong.

:pickle: I heard the same circus music playing as well. The blank look on Matt Millen's fat face was priceless. I honestly think Cherilus would have dropped to the early 2nd round if the Lions had not picked him at 17. I was hoping they would draft Cromartie 2, but it didn't happen and Arizona pulled the trigger instead. I do like Michael Bush, but I wouldn't give up a 3rd for him at this point. He's not going to see the field much for the Raiders, so you would be buying high with a 3rd.

:goodposting: I actually think it might not be a bad idea to give up a third for Bush -- Bush graded out as a 1st round talent with many teams before his injury, and by all accounts appears to be 100% healthy. He hasn't played in a while but the talent is still there, and RB is the easiest position to come right in and produce. I am NOT a believer that Kevin Smith is starter material in the NFL, though Jamaal Charles interests me.

Everyone ranks players differently. Just because Albert became the hot name over the last few weeks does not mean everyone thinks he was a great pick. I'm pretty sure Cherilus wasn't going to last much longer either. PFW had reported all week that he had moved into the first round just like Duane Brown had too. There is a good shot Atlanta would have traded up for Cherilus instead of Baker too.

I'm pretty sure the Lions themselves don't know why they are thinking about it.They still have a shot at Kevin Smith and Tashard Choice.

Ain't gonna happen......No way the Raiders give you a YOUNG RB that was a 4th Rd steal last year.......They'll let him get on the field first and show everyone in the league what he can do, thus boosting his value but more importantly, help the Raiders win games........DET can have L.Jordan, he'll be available after June 1st........

That rumor never had a chance to come true. There is no way in hell the Lions would trade for a RB with an injury history after cutting a better RB for that specific reason.

On one hand, Bush is the only good "big" back Oakland has. On the other hand, Oakland is hurting for draft picks.

Jordan is free. Rhodes may be as well. Didnt think Bush was available however a third round pick plus a later pick could make him so.
