Favre says comeback talk is 'all rumor'
In a text message to the Biloxi Herald, Brett Favre said reports of his potential return in 2008 "is all rumor."
Favre said there is "no reason" for a media firestorm after numerous reports surfaced that he's contemplating a return. Still, until Favre says publicly that he absolutely does not want to play in 2008 and stops text messaging people that he'd like to come back, speculation about his future will continue. Nice way to work in an Animal House reference. 
But they can't start him over Rodgers because they'd look foolish for wasting his (Rodger's) and the team's time this offseason, they can't place Favre on the bench due to A. his salary and B. he's Brett Favre. They won't release him because they still take a cap hit. They will have trouble trying to trade him unless he renegotiates his contract so his salary is spread over years so whatever team is interested in him only has to pay a few million for what would obviously be his last year in the NFL.
