**Official** Minnesota @ Green Bay MNF discussion thread (1 Viewer)

Here's to Peterson rushing for 300 yards and 4 TDs...but not in the league I play against him.

I heard Sharper basically trash talking how this defense would break Rodgers in tonight... something to the effect he's never seen the type of pressure this defense will put on him. I also previously cited an interview where Pat and Kevin Williams gave some good bulletin board material saying how the Rodgers is a ridiculous downgrade from Favre. I sure hope this defense puts its money where its mouth is. I have an uneasy feeling myself hearing that sort of banter concerning a road/division game.

interesting. i actually have rodgers in over cutler right now...but may flip flop at the last second.

Well, I do think the Vikings are going to put ungodly pressure on Rodgers since the Green Bay OL is in a little disarray. I think San Fran did that in the preseason - even though there was some justifiable complaint at doing that for a presaeason game, it definitely did the trick. My main concern is the Green Bay defense outscoring the Viking defense. With McKinnie out and Ryan Cook taking on Kampman on the other side, I'm a little worried about blocking assignments against a great defense. Here's where T.Jackson shows what's in store for 2008.

Anything new on grant?
From Rotoworld:ESPN's Wendy Nix reports that Ryan Grant will "split time" in the Packers' backfield on Monday night against Minnesota.Grant claims he's "100%," but coach Mike McCarthy says Grant has experienced lingering soreness and his reps will be "monitored closely." In a matchup against the NFC's top run defense, Grant could struggle for production on limited carries. It sounds like Brandon Jackson will see 10+ touchesI fear a McGahee type absence and may actually swap Grant out for Jackson....but either way, I'm not too excited.

Thanks for the info. If grant pulls a mcgahee I will be pissed. Hopefully he will not sit cause it is a big matchup

Really expecting to see a surprisingly good Oakland offense tonight. Russel and McFadden are, I think, gonna be a dynamite and undervalued tandem.

Funny how Sharper always tends to run his mouth. How did he do last year, 49 tackles and 4 picks? How many times did he blow coverage/get smoked last season against GB? I can recal at least 2 instances... MIN players love to talk trash. need to take Brett's advice from a few years ago: "get a life" :lmao:

Jackson is so bad, if they really are going to bring the heat, they will need grant to stay in to block. Jackson cannot block at all. And Lumpkin is so inexperienced.McCarthy said Grant was fine over the weekend, has soreness but will be monitored closely to make sure he doesn't agravate it. As long as he's okay, he'll be in there. If GB wants to win this game, or even come away with a healthy Rodgers, there's no way they can take Grant out for a large portion of the game.

NOTE: It's reeeeeaaal mushy up here in Milwaukee, and word is in GB it will be on and off rain for the game. They have been getting very scattered rain all day

Rodgers better play well AND win tonight (which is possible given they are at home, Vikes are without McKinnie and the Vikes D still has a lot to prove against the pass) or else the radio shows will be very interesting this week after Favre won and played well yesterday. :goodposting:

I agree with you, Big Jim. After ALL the talking Allen, Fat Pat and Sharper have done they really, really better shut the Packers down in order to back that up.

The fact that the Packers line is missing their starting C should mean that Kevin will keep that pressure up and I do not expect big things from the Packer running game at all tonight. But all it takes is Rodgers getting some slant passes off to Driver and Jennings and they'll still be able to make it tough on that D.

Anyone want to set the over/under on how many time we hear Farve's name tonight?
You could have an exceptionally brutal drinking game tonight -- take a swig every time his name is mentioned. That should result in a coma by the end of the first half.

Hey Sharper stop running your mouth and fall on that ball.

GB looks awful. Offense AND defense. Hope they pick it up.

And Tony Moll with THREE screw ups already

It seems like there is a ton of penalties/fumbling going on?

Anyone watching the game?

Is it due to weather or just lousy football?

Sloppy football. Reminds me of watching a Lions game.

The fumble notwithstanding, Jackson appears to be the third down RB for GB tonight.

VERY lousy football by GB. MIN looks good. ADP looks awesome. Not happy about that as a Packer fan. If this continues MIN should come out on top. McCarthy is being a wuss and calling VERY safe playsand I'm REAL tired of hearing about Brett Favre, and it's only the end of Q1

Ok

Thanks guys, Im stuck at work watching GameCenter and it just looks like an awful game from GB's prospective so far

If your a Packer fan you better get use to it, you will hear it all season long, unfortunatly.

I need to sneak an AC question in here during the commercial if any of you are bored.

Right now, I have Zach Miller in my lineup for the late game. He is really Oakland's only true receiving threat. But I also have Eddie Royal and Andre Hall on my bench, and I can put either of them in for Miller before the game starts. I'm down by a good margin, so I probably need a boom or bust type. Royal would be my last choice, as of now. Even though Marshall is out, I can't see the kid doing anything against D'Angelo or Nnamdi in his first NFL game. But Hall intrigues me a bit. Opinions?

Just heard this over McCarthy's headset from the defensive coordinator

Well Mike, Peterson is good, maybe we should try to stop him

Go to the assistant coach forum for this please. This is for in-game commentary about the GB-MIN matchup

How many points do you need? Knowing only "a lot", I'd roll the dice on Hall.

GB isnt even blitzing on defense either. Just letting MIN go crazy. Might as well say, hey here you go we don't want to win this one, it'll hurt Rodgers' feelings if we push him too hard for a win

S I've been listening on the radio. And it sound like Adam clifton is stealing all of our sacks by mauling Jared Allen. Hopefully he can get benched and have a player who doesn't hold every play.

For those that havn't wathced GB has commited 4 OL penalties (3 by Clifon - Jarred Allen is a beast!). Last possesion they had a 1 and 33 from their 9.

Unfortunatel, fantasy D doesn't adequately reward "stops".

QUIT CHEATING. TAKE YOUR BEATINGS LIKE MEN!

Wow AP made Woodson look foolish.

Wait, Jaws just criticized Peterson for only getting 4+ yards on 46% of his carries.

Isn't that number pretty high?

CHAD clifton has his hands full. It's going to be a long night of pentalties on #76

GB's offense resembles the CHI Bears offense of recent years... "wussy" with a p instead of a w comes to mind describing McCarthy so far this game.

Only 4 active WRs on GB's roster today if I heard correctly this afternoon. James Jones out. No other WRs on the roster. Might by why they're being so conservative?

It is a shame the Vikings do not ave a qb cause that defense and running game is second to none. Without a qb it does little for them though.
