I think nearly the same about Colston and even White, but I voted for Wayne. I think the next 3 have to be some order of Wayne/Moss/Smith IMO. It'll be 1 more year before the young guys leapfrog over them for me.ETA: I'd add TO in the list. His value might be perceived to be low with unknowns about his team in 2009, but he's up there with Wayne/Moss/Smith in production and age. He absolutely should be in the top 10.

Really? Seems like the older guys are on the wrong end of the bathtub curve and are just as capable as the old guard in dynasty.

I think that TO is about 36 which is a lot different than the 30-32 for Wayne/Moss/Smith and that combined with the uncertainty of his future easily keeps him out of the top 10 IMO.

I will go with Moss just because if I look at who is most likely to lead WR's in scoring on this list over the next 3 years he would be my first guess and a lot can happen in a few years time so I can't justify looking out much further than that. I like to win now and then trade him in a few years to owners like the guys that still thinks TO should be in the top 10 :towelwave:

Voted Wayne again. I think people are looking too much at his 2008 season.

I don't get the Colston love at all, why is he a top-10 WR? He isn't a special talent and he seems like he might be injury prone. Plus, when he gets hurt, his team doesn't even really miss him. I'd take every guy on the list except Edwards and Welker over him.

When healthy, Colston has beastly WR1 numbers. It's the "when healthy" part that's sort of the problem. But I still think he's the guy at this spot.
 
Moss gets my vote here ... I fully expect Brady to be back and healthy next Sept .. and last time those two hooked up for a full season we all know what happened ... throw away the record book ... 'cause your only gonna have to rewrite it again :goodposting:

 
If it weren't for Boldin's contract dispute, I'd vote him. He's the best combination of good & not too old, but I worry about missing some time holding out. If he gets out, it'll likely be to a good situation and I don't feel good about S.Smith's QB situation and RB talent behind him. Came down to Jennings & White for me. I chose White, since he plays indoors or southern locals for most of the late season.

 
How many of you "only look a couple of years ahead" guys would have ranked Harrison in the top 5 back in 2005?

When guys go, they sometimes go fast. In the "fantasy era" Harrison was probably the best, most consistent WR of all time. But what is he worth now?

Agree, although I do think there is a distinction between Harrison who was 34 three years ago and Smith/Wayne who are both 30. Moss is on the borderline of being a major age concern for me, though.

Yep, big difference between 30 and 34.But there is a big difference between 26 and 30 too and a lot of folks completely ignore THAT difference. Doesn't make sense to me. In some ways the gap between 26 and 30 is even more important. 26-30 are PRIME years and you have to consider that some or all of those prime years are OVER for certain guys (and are not going to be doing anything for your team during those years obviously) when you attach a value to them. Nothing particular about 26 and 30, just a more a less random selection of a 4 year span in the a career prime.I try to look at the WHOLE value (or potential value) a guy could give me over the entire rest of his career, and compare that value to the values of other guys.

Assuming all other factors are equal, I agree with your point. But I voted for Steve Smith because I think he's considerably more talented than Jennings, Wayne, Colston, and White. I don't see those guys as elite talents, I see them as good/great players in great situations (which is worth a lot too). Smith is an elite talent in an average situation, so that puts him in the same tier as the younger guys. I think it's a toss-up between the guys I mentioned, but my personal preference is Smith by a hair. Moss and Boldin are also in the conversation for me, but Moss's age and Boldin's injuries/contract uncertainty scare me off when picking this high.

I just dealt him after the season, I really think the Colts dominant offense is on it's last legs. Two years tops. Wayne will decline fast imo. Trade him while his value is still top 5-8 wr.BTW I voted Roddy White he is young and with a team that is on the upswing in a weak division and has two good years under his belt . Should be a top 10 wr for the next 5 years.

I went Colston here because of age, Wayne, Smith and Moss are right there though. I am very surprised at Marshal being #4. I don't like him nor do I trust his mental state or team for that matter.

Nothing last forever and not everyone is M.Harrison and can last into his mid to late 30's. Wayne is a good wr but Harrison made it a lot easier one him. His td production will be around 5-8 td's with catches in the low 80's and 1100-1150 yards in the next two years. Not exactly top 5 wr numbers that he is thought to be and he will only get worse, his 2007 year was his career year. As for the Colts offense as a whole I just really feel the Colts as a dominant team is coming to an end. The Colts really just skated by this season and won games they had no business winning in some crazy fashions. The Colts are near the end. Like I said 2 years tops and Wayne in two years will not be thought of as a top 15 wr believe that.

Ok, I can understand that POV. I very much disagree, but I can understand it.I guess I'm just convinced that this year offensively was the fluke year and not the sign of things to come. Personally I'm expecting Wayne to rattle of 2 or 3 1,400 yard 10 TD seasons with upside for more than that.

I'm just not sure we can read much into the 2008 season considering all the O-line injuries(they were starting all rookies on the interior at one point) Manning's knee which really didn't seem right until at least mid season and Wayne's nagging injuries, which to his credit(like Manning) didn't cause him to miss any games.

I think the Colts offense still has 2-3 years of elite production in them. I also believe Harrison being gone will help the offense in general.

If I had a second choice at the #5 pick I'd go with Smith.

 
I voted Jennings, but was really tempted to choose Roddy. Smith is amazing but he is getting older and goes not have a young up and coming stud QB like Jennings and White do.

I agree with this one. I think Wayne will be the value WR next year in redrafts/dynasty. I tend to side that he will have his best year next year, with a 50-50 chance of having 2 more top-10 years.
 
Went Steve Smith....this is where these rankings are gonna get muddy because everyone has their favorites and such so that affects their decision.

I think the Jennings votes over Steve Smith, Wayne, and Colston are laughable. He has one 1000 yard season. Even Roddy White has 2. And IMO, all 4 are more complete WRs than Jennings.

I voted for Steve Smith too, but I'd hardly consider the Jennings vote laughable. You are correct that he's had one 1000 yard season. I guess the 920 yards and 12 TDs he put up in 2007 in 13 games was a disappointing year for his fantasy owners then. The 1292/9 he put up this season kinda did away with most of his detractors. I guess not all.The more I think about it, the more I probably should have voted for Jennings over Smith. I love Smith's talent, but he's 4 years older, and doesn't have as good a QB or pass happy system as Jennings. Wayne is 5 years older. That's a lot, and really as noted earlier the prime years of the career. Colston has yet to play in a full slate of games.

As for the ridiculous notion that all four are more complete than Jennings, I'd suggest watching him play a bit in 2009. He's got sick short area quicks to gain separation, and plenty of long speed to get by corners deep. His best attribute is probably his ability to create YAC though.

His YAC in 2008 was quite a bit less than Steve Smith.
 
I'll take Moss's #'s for the next 3 years' over everyone elses. After that who cares, three years is long enough to look into a crystal ball for.

Jennings: 7.433/catch

Smith: 5.22

2008 YAC:

Smith: 5.62

Jennings: 4.78

Combined 2007 and 2008 YAC

Jennings: 5.84 on 133 receptions

Smith: 5.41 on 165 receptions

Is the intention to include rookie like Crabtree in this voting? I don't really care either way, but i am curious where people see his value with regards to veteran WR's. I don't think I would put him ahead of any of the guys on this list, but I would probably consider high strongly in the next tier so maybe 12-15 range. Where does everyone else value the top rookie WR's?

 
went with Colston. Had it not been for that freak injury to his hand he likely would have had another 1200 12 season imo. Good talent and great situation

Reggie Wayne Born: 11/17/1978 New Orleans , LA - 31Steve Smith Born: 5/12/1979 Los Angeles , CA - 30Randy Moss Born: 2/13/1977 Rand , WV -32I am not sure why Moss would be any more of an age concern than Wayne when Moss is only a year older.
 
Gotta be Moss. He's the only guy on here that's going to score 50 TDs in the next four years and carry some team to a few championships in that span if he's allowed to fall too far. Not that Jennings/White aren't worthy, but they're nice, safe picks. How many guys won dynasty championships with "safe" guys like Donald Driver and Joe Horn for years back? Sure they put up 1200 and 7 like clockwork, and that's great, but IMO you just can't pass on a guy with 3-5 years of 1500 and 15+ potential for them.

Agreed.And Marshall does not qualify no matter how many targets he gets.
