Avoided players with bye weeks as much as possible. Think I'll wind up with a QB in the flex spot most weeks, but also have decent depth at WR and RB to cover myself when needed.

The 3 spot was a tough spot to draft from.

Rivers, Phillip SD QB - 5

Russell, JaMarcus OAK QB - 9

Warner, Kurt ARI QB (P) - 4

Solid group, but I have bye week issues. I wanted to get Garrard as my #2QB, but EBF snagged him, so I settled with Rivers. Russell is a pure upside pick.....not relying on him for scoring for the 1st 3 weeks.

Brown, Donald IND RB - 6

Jacobs, Brandon NYG RB - 10

Johnson, Larry KCC RB - 8

Jones, Kevin CHI RB - 5

Lewis, Jamal CLE RB (P) - 9

Not a great RB core. I knew that I was going to be weak at RB when I passed on a RB in round 1. After Peterson and MJD, there is no clear #3 RB, and many of the suspects had week 4-5 byes. Happy to get Jacobs in Round 2, and I hope that Johnson, Lewis and Brown can get me solid points in the #2RB slot. I wanted to take a RB in round 4 or 5, but I knew in this format that QBs would fly off the board in rounds 5-6, so I needed to secure 2 of them with those picks. At least none of my 4 core RBs have an early bye.

Coles, Laveranues CIN WR - 8

Curtis, Kevin PHI WR (P) - 4

Engram, Bobby KCC WR - 8

Garcon, Pierre IND WR - 6

Moss, Randy NEP WR - 8

Robinson, Laurent STL WR - 9

Schilens, Chaz OAK WR - 9

Smith, Steve CAR WR - 4

I like my WRs a lot, as long as Smith is OK by the start of the season. My WR1 and WR2 spots are secure with studs, and I drafted a lot of depth and upside to cover the #3WR and possibly #4WR when Warner and Rivers are on bye.

Scaife, Bo TEN TE - 7

Winslow, Kellen TBB TE (P) - 8

TEs are OK here. My projections showed a pretty big dropoff after the top 10 TEs, so securing one was critical. Had a feeling that the TE run would occur in rounds 7-8 (since 2 owners did the stud TE theory), so I snagged Winslow in round 7.

Folk, Nick DAL PK - 6

Gould, Robbie CHI PK - 5

Buccaneers, Tampa Bay TBB Def - 8

Packers, Green Bay GBP Def - 5

I will be relying on Folk an TB in Week 5, if I make it that far.

Overall, my team will be competitive, as long as Smith is healthy. Even if he misses one game, I still have a good chace of surviving the first week.

QB - Going into this draft I was disappointed with the 11th spot. Keep in mind that we can flex a QB. I was planning on drafting Manning at 1.11 and was shocked to see my top overall player (Brady) available at 1.11. When my 2nd round pick came around I couldn't pass up Manning who I had at #4 overall. Neither had bye issues and I locked up a starting QB and the flex position right off the bat. I know that QBs would go early and that many people would have to burn rosters spots to secure production.

RB - Going to be a weak spot for me. Rice was my first RB selected in round 6. Fortunately Stewart slipped to round 8. Bradshaw and Ward should be net some points each week. Couldn't pass on McCoy even though he shared Stewart's week 4 bye. With RB only getting .5 ppr hopefully I won't lose too much ground to the field.

WR - Rolled the dice on Marshall. Really didn't want Boldin early with his wk 4 bye, but too much talent to pass up. I like Gage this year, especially in this format. Driver in the 10th was a gift. Henry/Walker/Cribbs/Clayton probably won't help much.

TE - Clark at 5.11 with 1.5 TE ppr...you have to be kidding. Add Shockey late for his upside.

D - NYG and Philly. Look good here.

K - Nedney, Graham, Hartley. Once my sleepers were stolen, I figured I'd add a player that might actually post a score.

Overall this turned out better than expected. I may have the top two scorers in the league without sacrificing anywhere except RB. WR/TE/D all above average. Week 4 could be tough with Stewart/Boldin/Philly sitting out, but we only drop one team and others have similiar if not worse bye issues.

Obviously didn't pay much attention to the bye weeks :loco:

Also, the reason I picked this league was the tremendous lineup flexibility. You saw a ton of different stategies........BassNBrew took QB-QB with his first two picks.....another team took two top TEs......Andy Dufresne took 3 RBs out of the gate. Really tough to gauge what each owner was going to do next.

I must've made a mistake when I submitted my league preferences because I never would've intentionally signed up for this league if I had known the structure. I thought this was a best ball head-to-head league and only realized that it was survivor format earlier this afternoon. I also didn't realize that this was a QB flex league until after the draft had already started. I don't like the survivor format because I think it involves more luck than head-to-head and I've never played in a league with QB flex, but I think I was able to adjust pretty well. Here's my team:

4.12 Ben Roethlisberger, PIT

5.01 David Garrard, JAC

I never thought I would have to grab two mediocre QBs so early. There was an unexpected run on QBs, which was obviously a consequence of the QB flex. I had initially planned to grab Schaub at 5.01 and then take a cheap backup in the rounds 10-11 range, but it became pretty clear pretty early that I would have to reach in order to solidify this position. I didn't get a superstar, but I got two fringe top 10 guys with no byes. I think I'll be okay here.

1.01 Adrian Peterson, MIN

3.01 Marion Barber, DAL

7.01 LenDale White, TEN

10.12 Earnest Graham, TB

I'm happy with my first two picks. Peterson will be great if he can stay healthy and Barber is a solid RB2 in 12 team leagues. When I was on the clock at 7.01 I took LenDale White hoping that Felix Jones would fall to my next pick. It didn't happen. I might regret taking LenDale over Felix. Felix is more explosive and more likely to be a breakout player, but LenDale has been a top 20 scorer each of the past two seasons. He seemed like a safe bet to provide some security blanket scoring. The RBs went quickly throughout the draft and the options simply weren't very appealing once the middle rounds rolled around. I had to settle for Earnest Graham as my RB4. I just hope he gets 10-15 touches each week so he can provide some insurance for my other backs. It would've been nice to have gotten a fifth RB, but no value presented itself and I wasn't going to reach with four decent options already in the fold.

2.12 Wes Welker, NE

6.12 Jerricho Cotchery, NYJ

9.01 Percy Harvin, MIN

12.12 Michael Jenkins, ATL

13.01 Hakeem Nicks, NYG

14.12 Muhsin Muhammad, CAR

15.01 Chansi Stuckey, NYJ

16.12 Devery Henderson, NO

Welker is money in this format. I was happy that he fell to me at the end of the 2nd. I don't like Cotchery's QB situation, but he's still a starting WR with a pretty good track record of production. I had to grab Harvin in the 9th for the upside factor. I think he can be a difference maker for me. Jenkins and Muhammad both have byes in the first five weeks, but they were among the only decent starters left when I took them. Stuckey and Nicks both have a chance to play a significant role for their team. Henderson is another player who represented clear value despite his early bye week. I hope he can hit 1-2 home runs for me. Overall I think I pieced together a pretty decent group here.

8.12 Heath Miller, PIT

11.01 Tony Scheffler, DEN

17.01 Martellus Bennett, DAL

We get 1.5 PPR for TEs in this league, so I knew I couldn't completely neglect this position. Heath Miller isn't an exciting player, but you know what you're getting. Scheffler is another fringe top 10 guy. He has more big play potential than Miller and could be in line for a decent season. Bennett was drafted to give me a third option at this important position. What this group lacks in star power it should make up for in depth. I think I'll be pretty good here.

19.01 Ryan Longwell, MIN

20.12 Rian Lindell, BUF

Two veteran kickers with job security and late byes. I like the offenses they play for and I think both will be solid.

18.12 Seahawks DEF

21.01 Chiefs DEF

22.12 Bengals DEF

Seattle plays a couple cupcake opponents early in the season. The Chiefs and Bengals are both weak defenses, but they have late byes. Between these three options I should get a decent score every week.

I'm pretty happy with this team overall. I think I did a good job of accounting for the odd league structure and insulating myself from risk by building good depth at every position. If my RBs stay healthy and give me decent stats, I think I'll be tough to eliminate. On the downside, this is a survivor league and one fluke bad week can spell your doom. I'll have to get lucky to advance.

Same here. Saw the QB flex and 1.5 ppr for TEs and figured that some might not catch the format. I was after two top QBs w/o week 4/5 byes so I could stick with only drafting two players at the position and not have to worry about a decent flex score. Didn't expect it to turn out this well on paper.

I was dead set on taking Brady in the first, but then had a change of heart when I saw people didn't covet QBs like I thought they would. I also started to worry about his production coming back from knee surgery. If I had it to do over again, I probably would have taken Brady at pick 10.

I thought it might go down (QB run) in round 3/4. Fortuantely there was enough WR talent that I didn't get burned and I like the RBs available in rds 5-8.

Glad you didn't. I would have taken Manning at 1.11 and then been at a loss. Probably would have gone Welker or Portis on the way back but wasn't sure waht to do.

I really like a lot of these teams on paper. Tough to pick my favorites, especially if I don't look at the bye.

Also, this was one of the slowest drafting groups ever.

I like how the draft came out for the most part, but I waited too long to snag my first WR. I really like the 2 stud TE plan since I still got a solid RB w/o Bye issues (which I valued very highly for the RB position0) and Drew Brees in the 3rd. I was actually pretty surprised I got Brees that late, even with his bye week issue, he could be the top scorer in the league for the first 4 weeks. Hasselbeck isn't sexy, but he just has to do a decent job in a shoot-out with the Colts in week 5. My WR's are pretty weak from an overall scoring perspective, but I ended up with a lot of roleplayers and #2's that'll contribute week to week, which is fine in best ball format. You don't have to be the best, you just have to not be the worst every week and that's what I geared a lot of later picks around.

Not a great team, but I got my scoring gimmick for my Flex spot and didn't get killed in QB quality. We'll see if that actually works out.

Not sure what to think of my team. I drafted by iphone and made picks hastily. I had intended on taking some top TEs, but they kept getting taken before I could get at them. Ended up with a pretty conventional roster. Not too many bye week problems. I'd like to think I'll outlast the DD's prediction of a week 2 exit...but based on the amount of effort I put in, it may very well be correct.

I went in intending to gamble and take only 1 K and 1 DEF. A bold move to be sure, but barring any catastrophic performaces in a close week, I think it will be a non-issue. That gave me the roster space to do some wacky zhit like draft all the Pats' running backs. Best, I drafted 20 position players without having a single one with a bye week in these weeks, so if I get through week 3, while other teams are short-handed, I will have my full complement of players each week.

At QB, I was targeting players that were projected to have strong performances weeks 1-5 and no byes, but that carried slightly lower ADPs. According to FBG projections, Romo and Edwards were #3 and #7 in projected points for weeks 1-5 and I was able to get them without investing high draft picks. Grabbing the 2 Jets possible starters later on was cream cheese and gives me 3 viable starters each week.

At RB, I was happy to get Brown, who I think will have a nice year, and T. Jones, who I feel is underrated. I also locked up the entire Patriots backfield save for Green-Ellis, so if anyone emerges, I've got him. Likewise, if the Pats' offense looks like its old self with Brady back, there are bound to be a bunch of TDs sprinkled among this group almost by default. I also got Ricky W late to prevent against a Brown injury. Carrying 7 backs is a lot, but any of them could emerge as weapons for me, while the rest will be a crap pile.

At WR, I'm satisfied. Andre Johnson in a PPR is a supernova, whether or not Schaub gets hurt. Guy catches 7-8 passes a game, and if Schaub is healthy, more TDs will follow as well. I also like Eddie Royal in a PPR, as I think Orton will look his way a lot, as will whoever inherits the Bucs QB job with Antonio Bryant. Rest of the WR corps is filled with upside guys I hope just have 1 big game each in the 5 weeks.

TE, I got two guys who will see a lot of targets. With Daniels along with AJ, I've locked down likely 50-60% of the targets in Houston, and they chuck it a lot. McMichael could be an early season gold mine if Avery's injury persists into the season.

Draft Dominator already said I would advance, so no point in actually scoring this right? Let's just move right onto leg 2....

Well done, Evil. Drafting good players and having ZERO on bye is a great accomplishment in this format....since everyone was trying to do the same.

I kinda wish I'd have gone with my gut and taken Moss at #2.

I think I'd have been better off with something like Moss/Westbrook/P. Thomas than I am with MJD/Westbrook/Bowe.

And even though I knew you could start two QBs, I still waited on them and paid the price.

I do think I got some good players late though.

Wait. This is Survivor format? No one told me this.
n00b.
These leagues will be a combination of Best ball and Survivor (ie no transactions). The Survivor leagues will vote off 2,1,2,1,2 in their five weeks (to get to 4 teams). Best ball will be cumulative record against the other teams.

Owners will not submit lineups. The best available lineup will be scored from your entire roster of players based on the starting requirements as defined.
From post one. It's really not that complicated.

Yeah. But then the Commish came in and said our league was best ball. Which it was yet wasn't depending on what he was talking about. Which is all I was asking. All leagues are best ball in scoring, but then there are best ball leagues and then there are survivor leagues in terms of how teams advance. It apparently is that complicated to be clear on meaning.

But just as apparently it's not that complicated to be a putz about it.

Which is all I was asking. All leagues are best ball in scoring, but then there are best ball leagues and then there are survivor leagues in terms of how teams advance. It apparently is that complicated to be clear on meaning.

But just as apparently it's not that complicated to be a putz about it.
Apparently isn't wasn't complicated for the 11 putzs.

I kinda wish I'd have gone with my gut and taken Moss at #2. I think I'd have been better off with something like Moss/Westbrook/P. Thomas than I am with MJD/Westbrook/Bowe.And even though I knew you could start two QBs, I still waited on them and paid the price. I do think I got some good players late though.
I was thinking the exact same way. No RB stood out at #3 once Peterson and Jones-Drew were off the board. Might as well take the best player on my board, which was Randy Moss. A Moss/Jacobs combo is better IMO than say Steven Jackson and Dwayne Bowe.If you would have taken Moss, then I wouldn't know what do.....do I take Jones-Drew or Tom Brady? I probably would have selected Brady.

Hill, Shaun SFO QB - Quinn, Brady CLE QB - Rosenfels, Sage MIN QB Davis, James CLE RB - Jackson, Fred BUF RB Jackson, Steven STL RB Mendenhall, Rashard PIT RBParker, Willie PIT RB Scott, Bernard CIN RB Wells, Chris ARI RB Crabtree, Michael SFO WR Edwards, Braylon CLE WR Jennings, Greg GBP WR Mason, Derrick BAL WR White, Roddy ATL WR Davis, Vernon SFO TE Gates, Antonio SDC TE Olsen, Greg CHI TE - Elam, Jason ATL PK Kaeding, Nate SDC PK Cardinals, Arizona ARI Def - Cowboys, Dallas DAL Def - I have never had a team with QBS this darn good!
I hope you get some good news soon.

according to DD, here are projected eliminations:Week 1: Blue-Kun, FalettiWeek 2: Idiot BoxerWeek 3: Multiple Scores, Mr.PicklesWeek 4: RudiSteinWeek 5: fightingillini, Andy Dufresne4 survivors: EBF, EvilGrin72, Rudnicki, BassNBrew
Made it through week 1. 4 to go. :excited:

Wow, I am having a bad week here. Injuries, horrible RB and WR play have me on the cusp of elimination.

Right now. 3 teams for 1 spot.

RudiStein - 118

Fightingillini - 110.6

Multiple Scores - 107.1

RudiStein has Gotskowski and SD Defense left

Fightingillini has R Moss, Rivers and Russell left

Multiple Scores has Gates, F Jackson and Kaeding left

I have a WR with 5 pts, so Moss should increase that by at least 15 pts.

I have a TE with 11.5, so the best of Rivers and Russell should increase that by at least 7 pts.

So I should end up with about 132-135 pts.

Rudi Stein will play Gotstowski, and the SD D should outscore CHI by about 5 pts. He should end up in the 133-135 range.

Mult Scores should pick up points from F Jackson and Gates. If F Jackson gets 15 and Gates gets 16, he ends up with about 127.

It's going to be close. I am looking good if Moss and the best of Rivers/Russell gets me 40+ points.

I dodged a major bullet. Somehow advanced with NO TDs from my RBs or WRs. Wonder if that has ever happened in a best ball format.

That said, it's still not looking good for me to advance to the next leg.

I have 177.9 w/ a WR score still open.

You have like 176-177.

Considering the points scored last week, I think it's safe to say you'll be pretty well up there.

I have 129.6 + Manning + (Clark-11)

Ruds has 107 + Fasano + Wayne + Addai

IB has 175 and is safe

BK has 159 + Camarillo and Ginn

AD has 138.3 + (Bess-11.6) + (Miami-11) + (Carpenter-8.2)

EG has 127.8 + Colts D + Brown + (Williams-5.8) + (Turner-5.9)

Everyone else is north of 150.
