He got a lot of love on these boards from a lot of people, and at least on KFFL's database, I haven't found a SINGLE blurb on him from this entire preseason. That can't be good, can it? Anyone have any info at all?
Buried in Baltimore, and it sounds like Parmalee has had the better camp. I think this situation is a great one to watch for dynasty leaguers--- grab Peerman or Parmalee mid-year for cheap and have a solid back to split carries with Ray Rice in 2010.He got a lot of love on these boards from a lot of people, and at least on KFFL's database, I haven't found a SINGLE blurb on him from this entire preseason. They were wrong. He's a backup talent player, that's all. This year think Javon Ringer.BeTheMatch said:He got a lot of love on these boards from a lot of people, and at least on KFFL's database, I haven't found a SINGLE blurb on him from this entire preseason. I don't think I was and I think you're wrong to prematurely say so, but we'll see in a couple of years. He's in a crowded situation that should clear up by 2010. Michael Turner, Priest Holmes, Stephen Davis, and Rudi Johnson are among several backs who seemed like they were buried on their depth charts that didn't force their way into playing time with great performances early in their first years, but did alright. Same with Ahman Green, Derrick Ward, Ryan Grant, etc. Javon Ringer benefits partially from a great Tennessee line, and nobody of consequence competing with him for the No.3 spot. He's a pretty good back, but put Mike Goodson or even James Davis in that situation and LenDale White would have true reason to worry. I think if you put Peerman in that situation, we would hear more about him as well. If Peerman gets cut, he'll be put on the practice squad or get picked up by another team. They were wrong. lol ok They had the same 40 yard dash time...but Peerman is 25 lbs heavier you do the mathedited to add:lorenzo booker is not close to as good an athlete as peermanBojang0301 said:Reminds me of the hype backs like Lorenzo Booker garnered around these parts.Booker is a far more athletic person. Matt, you know I usually respect your take... but none of these guys (Ringer, Goodson, Davis) are potential long term starters for any team in the NFL. Of the guys you list as players who "broke out" of crowded depth, only Grant was a surprise. Priest Holmes had 1,000 yards his rookie season he merely didn't fit the coaches scheme. Rudi rushed for nearly 1,000 his second season in only 13 games. Michael Turner was behind LT, and still forced himself into getting playing time... Parmale is outplaying Peerman, and that doesn't bode well for him. If Peerman isn't good enough to beat out Parmale, or McLain... well, I don't see him developing into some great RB down the line. Time will tell, but your last line says it all IMO... backup calibre player, not going to be a starter anywhere.Matt Waldman said:I don't think I was and I think you're wrong to prematurely say so, but we'll see in a couple of years. all three were impressive in preseason. Titans and Panthers have RB depth(somewhat similar to Gmen) wherein a RB could be lost stuck behind that depthMatt, you know I usually respect your take... but none of these guys (Ringer, Goodson, Davis) are potential long term starters for any team in the NFL. Now THAT is interesting. I'd say that gives him as good a shot as any to earn a role.Cleveland claimed him on waivers
Good pickup. Might be an interesting camp battle in 2010.Cleveland claimed him on waivers
At least there's opportunity in Cleveland. The rest is up to him.Good pickup. Might be an interesting camp battle in 2010.Cleveland claimed him on waivers
2010? Lets all take a chill pill on James Davis, who I've nicknamed The Express.I like him, but at least now Peerman has rookie level talent to battle. Jamal is obv. gone, Harrison is old guard. New mgmt has no ties to him. Peerman could emerge as the new Leon Wash with Mangini. Also, James Davis may prove to be preseason hype.As a Peerman owner, real early in the spring so at a low $ compared to what I've been seeing and reading, I'm happy he signed with a less jammed backfield team, and that he was scooped up so quick after release, supporting his talent evaluation by Waldman. I think BLT laments the day they chose to waive this guy in favor of Parmele. I respect Ozzie, but on this one, he wiffed.Browns claimed former Ravens 6th-rd pick Cedric Peerman and former Rams tackle Phil Trautwein on waivers. I'm not sure why you seem so shocked that I said 2010 there, but you seem to assume I have some crazy manlove for James Davis that I don't. I'm a Peerman fan. However, I think that it'll take him time to learn the playbook, and that he won't get much usage this year with a healthy Harrison. If Peerman shows enough in practice and limited duty, however, they could easily let Harrison leave as a free agent and enter 2010 with Davis/Peerman battling it out for the lion's share of carries. So, yeah, 2010.2010? Lets all take a chill pill on James Davis, who I've nicknamed The Express.I like him, but at least now Peerman has rookie level talent to battle. I have no real dog in this fight but you have to admit, adding a RB after all the Lewis speculation really does reopen the question on the Browns' situation. I'm sort of curious, what is Harrison's injury? Is it possible they place him on the PUP or is it not that bad?Manlove for Davis knows no bounds.![]()
Were you prosecuted? LOL!!!Seriously, I understand your counterpoints, but Holmes wasn't drafted and didn't have near the depth chart to compete with compared to Peerman. The Ravens were basically an expansion team early on. Turner didn't have much of a depth chart to compete with early in his career, either.switz said::vindicated:

Peerman was competing with McGahee and Rice - two first day picks and McClain.
We'll see, obviously Peerman getting cut means that he didn't play as well as I thought he would early on. However, it could have also been a numbers game.
Some of the guys I mentioned that I don't believe you had a counterpoint for included Stephen Davis who didn't break out until his fourth year, Ahman Green, who didn't "fight" his way past Ricky Watters and was traded to GB in this third season.
Those guys were good enough to make their rosters, but they those rosters didn't have great depth, either. Derrick Ward is another.
We'll see. The odds of you being correct about Peerman are probably higher than mine, because he was a lower round pick and bouncing to another team. However, I believe what I saw was correct and he has the talent to be a much better player than his draft status.
I'm still holding onto him in leagues where I have that luxury.
I don't even know what that meansFYI - switz is the "Cross Eyed" of the Shark Pool.
