Urlacher out for season (1 Viewer)

A dislocated wrist can cost you the whole season?

Ironic that they were saying last night that this was the healthiest that Urlacher has been in years.

does that upgrade Ben Roethlisberger significantly for week 2? Pittsburgh travels to Chicago.
Possibly. Hopefully it will help the Steelers pathetic running game. The Bears had a couple more guys on defense go down last night but I am not sure how serious those injuries are.

Still waiting for the Bears official site for confirmation.
ESPN was just reporting this morning that it was a 2-3 week injury and that he would be in a cast that he could play in for several weeks after that.
ESPN radio is now reporting he "could be" lost for the season. I don't think that is official though...
I still dont get how he cant play in a cast after missing a couple of weeks, i see players doing this all the time. The reports out for season sound speculative.

It's going to take Chicago a year or two to build up that offense anyway. I trust Lovie will always be able to field an acceptable to excellent defense, but anyone who saw the game last night noticed how inexperienced, albeit with some potential(I love Johhny Knox) Chicago's WR corps are, and this will cost the team a few games, like last night. This is an 8-10 win team, but if it's one of those years where all hell breaks lose on the injury front, and this happens to every team once or twice a decade, hopefully they tank for a top 5 pick

Tough break for Urlacher, nevertheless, its been Lance Briggs' defense for some time. And while Urlacher still plays at a pro-bowl level more often than not, he isn't the same player he was in 2006 and is certainly on the decline.

Don't fret Chicago fans, this is probably year one of a seven year or so plan... :kicksrock:

the whole thing sounds fishy even if Chicago Tribune and ESPN are reporting it. It might be a bad source. I'm pretty sure I'd call this a 4-6 week thing.

Believe me, I hope he's not out for the season. Here is what we know: When asked about his status Monday, Urlacher said in a text message that his ``season is over.'' Still waiting for confirmation. The linebacker crew could be a lot thinner if Pisa Tinoisamoa is out for a while, too.

So will the Bears move Briggs to ILB? With OLB Pisa Tinoisamoa possibly out I would think this would really kill the Bears pass rush.

Right now Hunter Hillenmeyer is the MLB. Nick Roach is in for Pisa. If both Urlacher and Pisa are out for good, look for the Bears to sign a linebacker or two soon.

I think Derrick Brooks is on a plane to Chicago as I type this. He's familiar with Lovie, Marinelli, and the system that they run.

Well, the bears part of my Chargers/Bears superbowl prediction is not looking so good.
Cutler...lead a team to the Superbowl? Child, please. :goodposting:
 I'm not sure who hates Cutler more, Bronco fans or Charger fans. I always thought Rivers was th punk in the Rivers/Cutler fued, now I'm not so sure, Cutler may be showing his true colors lately.Edit: Sorry to get off on this tangent in an Urlacher thread.

Just saw this on the updated Tribune report:

He was scheduled to undergo surgery Monday morning upon the team's arrival back in Chicago from Green Bay. A dislocated bone had to be surgerically put back in. The surgery might have revealed more extensive damage.

i take this back. got the update here from Joe Bryant that Urlacher apparently tweeted that his "season is over."
Just for the record, sarcasm doesn't have a font. I'm just saying.
you didn't Google hard enough.

I was thinking that this injury wasn't comparable to a bone break. If one of his hand bones or carpal bones were cracked, Urlacher probably could wear a cast and play, as the wrist joint would still be stable and it would be largely an issue of pain management. But with a bone out of place (wish I knew what bone ... one of the forearm bones being dislocated would be especially bad), the stability of the wrist joint itself is likely compromised. Even with a cast, slapping around that dislocated bone on helmets and such would probably prevent it from healing properly.

Even though he only wound up with 3 solos last night I expect this should bump Briggs up over the 100 solo mark if he actually does move to the middle. Too bad for Urlacher he sounded poised for a comeback.

Derrick Brooks talking to them about a contract, just working out the details. And Urlacher is OUT for the season according to ESPN Sportscenter, set for surgery this morning.

On the IDP board, someone ask in Hunter H. was a good fill for Urlacher, my response is:

He was a 3 down LB before losing his starting gig last year. He is quick, but his bad tackling and coverage technique has been exploitable in the past.

Hunter Hillenmeyer will not have to be in coverage playing MLB. His tackling isnt the best but I am willing to take the chance and pick him up. Don't want to be the guy the wished he did half way into the season.

For a wrist injury?! There must indeed be a LOT of extensive damage then just a broken wrist. I understand it might take awhile for it to heal up, but there must be tendon/ligament damage going on there that needs major surgery. I just can't fathom how that would put him out the entire year...
