Lofa (1 Viewer)

I read on a Seattle page that Lofa has not practiced and the team is considering keeping him out this week to not further injure his hamstring.

"MLB Lofa Tatupu: Mora isn’t sure that he will play because the team does not want to risk increasing the damage to his strained hamstring."

I also saw that David Hawthorne is currently calling the plays in practice and running as the MLB. It may just be a one week thing, it may not even turn into that, but I imagine Hawthorne is available on most WW if you need a last minute pick up, he could be your man. If Lofa's injury is lasting it could be more than that.

Here is an interview with Hawthorne but it only briefly touches on him calling the plays:

The Seahawks have good young lb'ers so it is hard to say. Maybe when Lofa comes back, Hawthorne will move over and plays Hills spot until he is healthy again. He looks like he needs to be on the field, that is for sure.

is this Hawthorne a "future" stud ???dinasty outlook ?
I'd say yes. "The Heater" was an obvious player in his first pre-season lat year as an UDFA. He's been a guy I've noted in preseason sleeper threads, and I recommended grabbing him in another thread out here. I didn't start him this week, unfortunately - I've got some very solid LB's and thought about it, but decided to play it safe against a team I had a talent edge on. However, he had a couple grab of waivers & start that worked, so I'm kicking myself. Also, he had a FF & FR overturned on replay.

Lofa has been practicing(limited).

Hill hasn't. Would he play in Hills spot if Lofa plays?
Lofa is listed as "probable" so he is playing, Hill is clearly still out but I have not heard/read anything on whether or not they will play Hawthorne in Hills spot. It would make sense to me but I am just a fan and Hawthorne owner. :-)

Hawthorne and the Seahawks LB'er situations for now and the future were discussed in full in the IDP podcast. from Norton/Bramel/Bloom's view Hawthorne won't be getting his 'shot' for sometime barring significant injury. he seems to be a MLB exclusively

#New player notes Fri, Oct 2Tatupu (hamstring) practiced Friday and is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Colts, the Seattle Times reports.Recommendation: Tatupu will be available as an IDP this week if you need him.(Rotowire.com)

The Seahawks do have some good news: Lofa Tatupu will return Sunday. The three-time Pro Bowl pick and leader of the defense missed the loss to the Bears with a hamstring injury sustained the week before."We've still got guys who we're looking forward to getting back, but we're starting to fill up again, which is nice," Mora said, referring to the 13 starters who have been banged up the last two weeks.Tatupu's return is timely. The middle linebacker and defensive play caller must match wits with Manning, who wins many of his plays before they begin by outsmarting a defense."He understands defenses almost as well as his offense. That's dangerous," Tatupu said.Mora has the Seahawks ditching their usual system against a no-huddle offense, which calls for Tatupu to receive hand signals from the sideline and then relay the call by voice to the rest of the defense before the snap.Mora knows Manning is capable of deciphering Tatupu's calls and adjusting his play call to beat Seattle's alignment. So it's hand signals and head nods among Seahawks defenders on Sunday. Mora said he's never used that system as much as he will in Indianapolis."Peyton Manning presents unique problems, in that he is so intelligent. He accumulates so much knowledge throughout the game," Mora said. "The less we communicate verbally throughout a game, the fewer cues we will give him to what we are doing."
