Slaton vs Pierre (1 Viewer)

Two guys who haven't shown any signs of life until this weekend, Slaton because of underperformance and Thomas because of injury. Slaton has C. Brown stealing carries and hasn't looked the same, and Pierre has Mike Bell to possibly contend with when he returns. Both were targetted by FBGs this preseason as guys to have on as many of your teams as possible. I am curious what the opinions are now that we are 3 weeks in? Does Thomas keep the job and outperform Slaton who is losing GL touches and underperforming so far? Or does Slaton return to 2008 form and Pierre splits with Bell? Somewhere in the middle?

Two very interesting guys that I think owners should consider targetting in trades, but would like some more opinions on them before I go offering up trades to get them.

One was picked late first round and the other was picked 3/4 round. Big difference.

Who cares where they were drafted. That stops mattering the second the draft ends.To answer the question ( I happen to own both guys in my league) I have a gut feeling that Slaton will start heating up and will even stay in during red zone packages. I think Brown's fumble may help Kubiak wise-up. As for Thomas, he stll could still have injury and shared-playing time issues. I'd love for both to start dominating and to give me a great 1-2 backfield punch, buri think Pierre may have more question marks.

The question wasn't "who's better going forward", it's "who winds up rewarding owners". To answer that question, draft position matters. If Tom Brady and Joe Flacco produce exactly the same going forward, then Flacco is the guy who winds up rewarding his owners more.I think that Slaton will outproduce Pierre Thomas going forward, but I would much rather have spent a 4th rounder on Pierre than a 1st rounder on Slaton.

That's all mental.UNLESS you're talking about an auction league where you have a limited budget. Then I can see your point.If you don't have a budget and all drafts/waiver claims/free agents cost you exactly ZERO, then you're just collecting as many lottery tickets as you can, hoping one will hit the jackpot. The Brady owner could have hit on later round gems like DeSean Jackson and Willis McGahee, while the guy who got Flacco off the wire could be starting Greg Jennings and LaDanian Tomlinson. An 0-3 record is hardly "rewarding".

Pierre does. He was a later round pick than Slaton so presumably he would be a RB2 on a team as opposed to Slaton who is probably a RB1 on many team, Pierre is playing in a better offense where he will be able to consistently run the ball, and, unlike Slaton, he will get first shot at the goal line carries - only thing holding him back is whether he stays healthy all season.

I agree that Pierre is in the better offense and will get the GL carries. He was the clear starter before he got hurt and as long as he is healthy he will keep that job. I think he has the most upside of the two based on these two facts.

Slaton is risky in that he has struggled early, whereas Pierre has performed well when he played. Houston's offense is good, but is not on the same level as N'awlins. I'm just not completely sold on Slaton yet.

So, better offense and more GL carries = higher chance of success.....regardless of where they were drafted.
