And it continues. It began last weeek when Brown fumbled away a chance for a win.
In his most effective game Slaton had 12 carries to Brown's 8. Brown also got the goal line carries. He was ineffective against the Titans and the Jets... hardly mediocre defenses. The fumbles were inexcusable obviously, but his situation was too good for his numbers to not get better. The doom and gloomers always come out in full force to call bust or washed up, rather than look at things logically. I don't see him busting out huge (but wouldn't be surprised if he does) this week as the Raiders defense is not bad at all. But he should be a lot better than he has been.it's not as if Brown has been holding him back or taking a big slice of the pie. Slaton has just been ineffective.
I agree he'll likely get better and I have tried to trade for him in a few leagues but I'm not breaking the bank for him. I was skeptical going into the year and that hasn't changed. In his most effective game Slaton had 12 carries to Brown's 8. Brown also got the goal line carries. Slaton was actually pretty effective last week. He had a verynice rushing average. A touchdown would have made it a good game for his fantasy owners. The fact that Brown is predictably knicked up already is another encouraging sign for Slaton owners. It sucks having your fantasy back lifted at the goal line.it's not as if Brown has been holding him back or taking a big slice of the pie. Slaton has just been ineffective.
And Kubes has talked of activating a practice squad back if Brown can't go this weekend.I have said all offseason that those pimping Slaton as a top ten back were crazy. Last year was an anomaly for a Kubiac coached offense. He doesn't want one RB carrying the entire load. He never has, historically. Those who continue to count on Slaton as their #1 fantasy RB will continue to be disappointed.it's not as if Brown has been holding him back or taking a big slice of the pie. Slaton has just been ineffective.
I'm confident he can bounce back and finish in the RB 12-15 area which is what you expect from an early 2nd round RB. I drafted him as my RB1 but took Moss in the 1st round so it would be too much to expect top 5 numbers from him.I think Slaton rebounds to have a good, not great year. Just had extra RB depth and needed a WR.
I went the same way in the 1st two rounds of my draft. So I too was not expecting top 5 numbers from him. However my WR 3 spot was a wasteland (thank you Royal) and I got some later RB values so I made a move. He has his best week of the season so far this week.I'm confident he can bounce back and finish in the RB 12-15 area which is what you expect from an early 2nd round RB. I drafted him as my RB1 but took Moss in the 1st round so it would be too much to expect top 5 numbers from him.I think Slaton rebounds to have a good, not great year. Agree, anyone expecting RB1 numbers is foolish. I got him in the 3rd round and would be happy with a 12-15 finish. But I think he's capable of cracking the bottom of the top 10 in that offense provided Kubiak isn't a total jerk.I'm confident he can bounce back and finish in the RB 12-15 area which is what you expect from an early 2nd round RB. Doubtful. Here is the current list of top 30 RBs in a non-PPR, standard storing league. I don't see Slaton moving into the top 15 of this group.Peterson, Adrian RB MIN Johnson, Chris RB TENMcGahee, Willis RB BALJones-Drew, Maurice RB JAC Gore, Frank RB SF Jackson, Fred RB BUF Benson, Cedric RB CIN Jones, Julius RB SEA Brown, Ronnie RB MIA Sproles, Darren RB SD Williams, DeAngelo RB CAR Barber, Marion RB DAL Grant, Ryan RB GBSmith, Kevin RB DET Turner, Michael RB ATL Hightower, Tim RB ARI Jackson, Steven RB STLBuckhalter, Correll RB DEN Rice, Ray RB BALJones, Thomas RB NYJWilliams, Ricky RB MIA Addai, Joseph RB IND Bell, Mike RB NO Jones, Felix RB DAL Taylor, Fred RB NE Bush, Reggie RB NO Williams, Cadillac RB TB Brown, Donald RB IND Jacobs, Brandon RB NYGMoreno, Knowshon RB DENI'm confident he can bounce back and finish in the RB 12-15 area
And who's to say that last year Slaton wasn't the fluke? No way that Slaton will be in the top 15 with such studs as Fred Jackson, Willis Mcgahee, Darren Sproles, and Julius Jones there. It is not a sure thing of course, but it is not like there are not some fluke players there right now who will stay there throughout the year.
If "cracks the bottom of the top 10" than he would indeed be putting up RB1 numbers...wouldn't he?Agree, anyone expecting RB1 numbers is foolish.I'm confident he can bounce back and finish in the RB 12-15 area which is what you expect from an early 2nd round RB. I drafted him as my RB1 but took Moss in the 1st round so it would be too much to expect top 5 numbers from him.I think Slaton rebounds to have a good, not great year. I said he's capable, but you shouldn't draft him with that expectation. Nice list, but instead of triple-spacing, you should have went for quintuple-spacing. Would have taken up more space.Doubtful.Here is the current list of top 30 RBs in a non-PPR, standard storing league. I also took Moss at the end of round 1 and Slaton in round 2. My team is 0-3 now, with a couple of really close losses, but I expect that to turn around soon.I'm confident he can bounce back and finish in the RB 12-15 area which is what you expect from an early 2nd round RB. 8 team league? Seriously, if I'm remembering correctly, Slaton's ADP was much better than 3rd round.Agree, anyone expecting RB1 numbers is foolish. I got him in the 3rd round and would be happy with a 12-15 finish. But I think he's capable of cracking the bottom of the top 10 in that offense provided Kubiak isn't a total jerk.
220, 221. Whatever it takes.Nice list, but instead of triple-spacing, you should have went for quintuple-spacing. Would have taken up more space.![]()
Lets look at these rankings in January. 3 weeks is hardly enough time to call him a hump. Now that Schaub is throwing for yards and scores, teams might lean towards coverage and drop someone from the LOS. He's actually given me 2 good weeks in my league, PPR. So now I just wait for the better weeks to begin. Hopefully soon, but better later. 3-0 start for me, cant ##### too much.Doubtful.Here is the current list of top 30 RBs in a non-PPR, standard storing league. Or a 12 team league where Brees/Brady go at 1.3 and 1.4, then other owners poop their pants and take Manning, Rivers, Rodgers and Warner in the first round of the draft.8 team league? 12 team ppr money league, I didn't understand how he fell that far.But i'm not gonna complain.I also took Moss at the end of round 1 and Slaton in round 2. Not that drastic but basically. Lots of QBs and WR went early.Or a 12 team league where Brees/Brady go at 1.3 and 1.4, then other owners poop their pants and take Manning, Rivers, Rodgers and Warner in the first round of the draft.8 team league? Slaton was very impressive last week....and yes a TD would have made his week even better. The kid will be money this year in PPR and finish in the top 10 RB's IMO. We have a loooong way to go. We are only in week 4 and the schedule is going to get rosey for Slaton owners.Oh and did I mention Chris Brown is dog ####? Yeah...that guy will not sniff the GL for a long time. He blew a possible win for the Texans and Kubiak is a shmuck for overthinking his RB rotation. Slaton proved last year he is a baller and should get the rock 20 plus times a game. Its funny you guys celebrate like CHRIS BROWN was ever a factor in Slatons poor play.He had nothing to do with that at all.....wether CB was there our not. But hey....anything you can cheer about then go right ahead. I watch ever game on him and will admit he looked way better running the rock this last week compared to when he has since training camp opened.
Kubiak disagrees with you:Oh and did I mention Chris Brown is dog ####? Yeah...that guy will not sniff the GL for a long time.

"He's done a good job for us. Obviously, he's got to hang on to the ball right there, but I've got a lot of confidence in Chris down there."

Not in those exact words, but he could just have easily declared the role no longer Brown's in those situations. However, he is staying with him. There is no debate or declaration of coachspeak on this issue.Did you expect him to say, "Yeah, Chris really sucks now. Yes Slaton's value is low right now, but you paid a high price for him.just bought low on Slaton, traded MB3 for him straight up and I still got to keep Choice. Not a bad deal, this makes me like it even more. If last year wasnt a fluke, Slaton has endless more talent then Brown.
Slaton hasn't done much better. He also said "He's done a good job for us." Is that true? He rushed for 2 yds per carrt with a Goal line fumble that cost the game.
