Waiver Wire Defense (1 Viewer)

looks like the jags at home vs. the rams might be the best pick. others to consider.

bengals vs texans

Pats vs Ten, especially if we have a VY sighting.

any others?

Are the Jags any good on defense?

Going into week five vs. Seattle they were ranked tied for last in the league against the pass (282.7 yards per game) and dead last in sacks (3).

Versus Seattle they allowed 241 passing yards and generated 1 sack while allowing 4 TD passes.

And that was before they lost 41-0.
I think the Jags pass rush and secondary is putrid. Look at what Hass did to them and he had cracked ribs. But it is Stl who will get Bulger back. They are not a top 5 def this week but could crack the top 10. Jags should win big but not because of their Def.

If GB was dropped for byes, have to go with them.
im also looking at GB. They were dropped for byes. I dont want to burn my #2 Waiver because I have waited to use it all year. Using it on a DEF hardly seems sensible, but I think they could be huge this week and will be snapped up if i dont.

I picked up Carolina, they have Tampa Bay and Buffalo the next two weeks, neither of whom would scare you, and they had a good week this week.

I'm struggling with the idea of starting a terrible Defense just because they play a bottom feeder. Jacksonville, Carolina & New England are pretty brutal on D.

Denver is still out there in my main league, I may roll w/ them regardless of the less than stellar matchup.

Bengals are probably the better big play defense. The Oline of Houston isn't all that great so sacks and pressure is possible.

We have 10 posts, 8 that pick a DST:

WAS - 1

CIN - 2

DEN - 1 (this is actually whom I'm thinking of benching causing me to look for a WW DST)

CAR - 1

GB - 2 (picked up in my league and probably a lot of leagues)

JAX - 1

Not really a consensus.

In terms of who's likely available on the WW, I'm thinking Carolina - an underperforming defense with a sweet matchup this and next week (BUF), but can we say Josh Johnson really will be that bad? The Bucs are at home, and he actually had a pretty good game against PHI. And again, CAR's defense has been awful this year, though they finally had a good game vs a pretty awful WAS offense.

CIN - Does anyone really have faith that CIN can hold HOU down? CIN's Playing at home, but HOU's been on a bit of an offensive roll, albeit against some poormediocre D teams (OAK, Jax, ARI).

I can still go with DEN but I'm thinking SD has a pretty decent offensive game tonight.

When considering Carolina keep in mind that

Buccaneer C Jeff Faine (triceps) practiced this week and is on target to start for the first time this season.

Definitely upgrades the TB rushing game.
