One fumble and they still might. I don't think Slaton is the answer. Was hoping they introduced Arian Foster to the NFL this week
I know he is. He is the best rb on the team, no doubt. I've said it all along--this was a temporary demotion and Slaton would still be involved in the gameplan. Kubiak knows he's an important part of their offensive makeup because his ability to house it on any given play means the defense must always account for him, which opens up the play-action. The Texans offense is predicated on the play-action fake, which is why Slaton's starting status imo was only a question of "when" and not "if."One fumble and they still might. It won't matter, as neither is going to help you.I've been expecting this news and I'm glad to hear it now instead of Monday morning. I've had Slaton inserted into my starting lineup since Tuesday and if I hadn't heard anything I might have panicked and thrown in Justin Forsett. Now that I know he is starting, I'll roll with him Monday. It does help to have Chris Johnson going then also.
Can't agree with this assesment at all. I do own him in one league, and will not start him in these "must win" fantasy games down the stretch, as his beching a few weeks ago cost me dearly. With Moats and Brown available, Slaton is another fumble away from the bench in crunch time. Cannot afford to gamble on this kid at this stage of a playoff run.To those who have no other options but to start him, I wish you wellSlaton will be a stud from here on out. Ride him to the championship!
I think they bring another RB in next year via the draft or free agency and make him earn the starting job. Granted he's a good player but I expect Houston to bring in someone else to push him, or at the very least to have a better option than Moats in the event he continues to fumble. How he performs relative to the other RB remains to be seen. What do you guys think of Slaton's future there? I'm not sure if he'll be able to get back to how well he played his rookie season even though he clearly has the talent to.
I don't know about anyone else, but aside from the first game and the Buf game this guy has been beatifully consistent for me. Even as a "backup" to Moats he produced well enough for a RB2 (ppr).Weeks 3,4,5,6,7 were a thing of beauty. PPR this guy will score points, period. @15 carries and 4+ targets a game. I don't see the problem here fantasy-wise.Can't agree with this assesment at all. IMO, if you have better options that you can start at RB (or flex), I'd roll with them. But how does Slaton compare to the likes of the 'unproven' backs like Snelling, McCoy, Charles, Forsett etc?I don't know about anyone else, but aside from the first game and the Buf game this guy has been beatifully consistent for me. Slaton had a 4 game stretch were he put up great FF numbers (5 tds combined)before fumbling everything away.Moats came in and had a great game 3 tds plus well over 100yds ... This could have been Slatons. (That's now 8 tds in 5 game for the RBs) Next game the 2 combined for 2 tds (Thats' now 10 tds in 6 games for the RBs) ... So the opportunities are certainly there.Slaton has been coming on as a receiver ... Now Daniels is out which creates even more of an opportunity for catches. The team is coming off a bye which gave them time to heal up, fix what was wrong with the running game and Slatons fumbling.Slaton has been watching film of Tiki Barber to correct his fumbling. Tiki is a perfect example for Slaton not just for the fumbling but because they are similar backs in size and style. If he could pick up some of Tiki's patients and use of blockers that would be a bonus.Houston has a very good offense with a good schedule the rest of the way.in 2008-09, Slaton got stronger as the year went on From week 11 on he put up huge yardage numbers (It's week 11)And management seems committed to Slaton (as they should be) and fixing his problem. In summary the Houston backs have not looked pretty ... but they have put up good numbers despite the fumbling (negative points)If one back could get 70% of the total that would be huge. And finally ... I have no ther choices. My team is good enough to win it all if Slaton stops fumbling. Can't agree with this assesment at all. Don't think anyone queasy about riding Slaton has issues with his production. I rode that 4-5 game stretch myself, and he was dynamite in my PPR league, no question. The caveat is, of course, Kubiak's leash on Slaton and his fumbling. The Buffalo game/benching put a huge dent in my season ... and from my perspective, I'd rather not gamble on him if I can trot out CJ, McCoy and Snelling (at flex).Slaton is by far the most electrifying back on that roster ... and his "boom" potential is huge. As I stated earlier, I hope those that are starting him are rewarded by a nice bounceback effort this week.qimqam said:Slaton had a 4 game stretch were he put up great FF numbers (5 tds combined)before fumbling everything away.Moats came in and had a great game 3 tds plus well over 100yds ... It's tough to leave a guy like Slaton on the bench, given the upside. That said, I'm leaning towards sitting him this week to see how the workload distribution shapes up.
While apparently telling the players who will start, the coaching staff has not publically commented on the running back situation and distribution. The last thing I saw directly from Kubiak was that hey will all play maybe even Foster. Maybe something that i missed floating around though.Any Texans followers have insight on what this is supposed to be?Slaton had a 4 game stretch were he put up great FF numbers (5 tds combined)before fumbling everything away.Moats came in and had a great game 3 tds plus well over 100yds ...
