What CI's would you start him over? He's an out machine against righties and he's worse vs. lefties. I get the cheap power angle, but how many leagues will he provide positive value?Mike Jacobs (3% owned in Yahoo) is batting cleanup for the Mets until Murphy returns.
His stuff's never been the issue, it's his head. Not saying don't take the flier, this is the type of guy to take fliers on, just a PSA before you start him.Luke Hochevar is looking good tonight. Nice movement on the FB and getting a ton of ground balls.Everyone's given up on him, but his underlying numbers last year were alot better than his ERA. He's available in 99.9% of ESPN leagues and is probably worth a look.
He'd only be worth a flyer in NL only or very deep mixed leaguesMAC_32 said:What CI's would you start him over? He's an out machine against righties and he's worse vs. lefties. Anyone got any read on what's going on in Minnesota PT wise? Delmon Young is a very interesting add, but the PT situation may be a deal breaker. If Span plays every day and both Kubel and Thome play most of the time vs. righties I don't see how Delmon cracks the lineup enough to help a fantasy team.Man In The Box said:Delmon Young.Hit his 2nd homer of the season last night and is off to a hot start. Young has been disappointing to start his career, no doubt. But he's a guy who was the 1st pick in the draft and Minnesota gave up a decent amount to acquire him. He lost some weight in the off-season and looks like he may finally breakout this year. I'm taking a shot.
He started the first 3 games. Didn't start last night, but came in the game late and hit a 3 run homer. I think if he continues to hit, he'll get enough PT to be on a fantasy roster. I'm in a league w/ separate SP and RP slots. I think the value bump for a real-life RP w/ SP eligibility is greater than the opposite like Wilson. It's a lot better to plug a guy into an open SP slot when you have no other pitchers starting.CJ wilson if he is available;I drafted him late in all leagues and he ought to be worth the add;RP and SP eligibility (soon) if that matters;
I think they are pretty even, but I'd lean towards Marcum. Penny just doesn't get enough strikeouts for my taste. He'd have to have an awfully low ERA to account for where he'll hurt you in Ks. My philosophy on back-end rotation guys is usually to look for guys that'll get Ks because most back-end rotation guys will carry some ERA risk anyway. I could see going with Penny if you (a) don't have IP limits and (b) have a ton of high K guys on your team already. My only concern with Marcum (aside from injury) is the AL East, but with IP limits, sitting him against the Yanks (5.59 ERA) isn't a big deal. Without IP limits, you can help overcome what Penny lacks in Ks. Assuming IP limits, I'd take Marcum and sit him against the Yankees. When healthy, he gets more K's per inning than Penny and generally has a decent ERA.Would you snag Marcum or Penny?

I picked up Jim Johnson yesterday. As mediocre as he can be, I think he's next in line. Gonzales's command has been horrible and he's barely touching 90 on the gun. It's one thing to let a guy work through it if his stuff is there, but that doesn't seem to be the case.You dropped Jay Bruce?! Too early.Mike Gonzalez has been terrible in 2 of his 3 outings. 1 save, but sandwiched around that save are 4 earned runs in 1 inning. Who is most likely to take over if he continues to struggle?I just picked up Daric Barton. Dropped Jay Bruce.![]()
I drafted him but didnt start himGotta jump on Gio Gonzales. I dropped him before his start for Masterson and now I'll be lucky to get him back.![]()
Ouch, I targeted him in all of my leagues but wasn't able to get him. Blessing in disguise? Although in one of those leagues I ended up with Napoli so...maybe not.Anyone remember what happened to Snyder last year? I remember him being injured a lot, just wondering if his poor numbers in 09 were probably due to playing hurt. He has a good eye and showed some decent pop 06-08.Montero C ARI out for a long time - have to figure at least 8 weeks;Snyder has value, particularly in 2 Catcher leagues
He's been hot, but he's still Alex Gonzalez. In spite of Peralta's huge regression last year, I think he's still likely to outperform Gonzalez from this point forward.Is Alex Gonzalez worth a pick up this week? Over Peralta for MI
Hard to ignore his early power surge, but I'd ignore it. Peralta will probably put up better numbers over the long run.Is Alex Gonzalez worth a pick up this week? Over Peralta for MI
It's tough when the alternative is Stubbs, that's allpantagrapher said:Come one, people. You shouldn't be dropping guys like Jay Bruce and Kyle Blanks this early. IT'S MID-APRIL.
what y'all make of Podsdesnik?-QG
I'm embarrassed to admit I picked him up in a shallow 12 team mixed league. Dropped Carlos Gomez on a speed deficient teamwhat y'all make of Podsdesnik?-QGHe did hit .300 last year in over 500 at bats. I'm gonna wait til the end of the week before i make a move but he's probably near the top of my list.
Juan Castro has been hanging around the majors for 15 years. He's no hitterWith Rollins seemingly headed for the DL the choice becomes his replacement Juan Castro or The Riot in Chicago.Theriot is steady but that Philly ballpark plays like a pinball game.
Not unless you're desperate and play in a very large league. He's going to split time and he's not anything great. I wouldn't waste my time with him.To the post below this one, I love me some Podsednik.Might be a good time to give Felix Pie a look (available in 99.6% of ESPN leagues). It looks like he'll be leading off in B-Rob's absence and he's producing.
