This is a long term analysis, don't get caught up on just 2010, think 5 to 10 years down the line as well.

Assume you have a balanced roster.

Assume settings: Passing: 1 point per 20 yards, Rushing/Receiving 1point per 10yards , TDs worth 6, no PPR. A farly standard lineup.

1 pt for every solo tackle

.5 pts for every assisted tackle

2 pts for every sack

2 pts for every INT

2 pts for every forced fumble

2 pts for every fumble recovery

6 pts for every TD

5 pts for every safety

5 pts for every blocked kick

1.01 Ryan Mathews, RB, SD 41%

1.02 Dez Bryant, WR, DAL 65%

1.03 C.J. Spiller, RB, BUF 46%

1.04 Jahvid Best, RB, DET 75%

1.05 Ben Tate, RB, HOU 34%

1.06 Demaryius Thomas, WR, DEN 40%

1.07 Montario Hardesty, RB, CLE 39% http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=532357

I'll add him next round, vote other for Tate...

Voted Benn. I don't see Bradford surviving much in StL with the revolving door OL.

Benn will have to show up early and often to help TB make an impact offensively.

I voted Bradford. Tons of young Qbs come to bad teams, and if the team can turn it around the QB usually ends up pretty decent.

Please add more choices and who in their right mind would pick a defensive player in the first round of a fantasy draft?

I don't care what your scoring system is, defensive players are a dime a dozen.

I remember saying this same thing about Patrick Willis a couple years ago :hifive:

...and I'm sure someone said it about Ray Lewis a while back too, but one exception every 10 years does not disprove the rule.

In a league where you start 11 defensive players, 4 being LBs, and have 12-16 teams, LBs are definitely worth 1st round picks.

And when he has that kind of potential, you draft him in the 1st. Especially at LB when an elite talent can get you RB numbers.

Golden Tate is easily next in line here, very surprised he wasn't listed as an option.

I only see 2 other players on the list that would contest him for the #8..

Why wasn't he included?

Jon Beason, Demeco Ryans, on and on. 6th round RBs are going in the 2nd round, 4th round WRs are going in the late first round, stud LBs score as much as WRs. Have you never played IDP?

Yes. I inherited a horrible team in a long-standing 12 team idp dynasty five years ago. I have finished in the top three 3 years in a row. Never picked a D player in the 1st. Never will.

Simply overlooked, I don't believe I added anyone to this poll from the previous.Don't worry, he will be on the next poll.

As far as IDP, a lot of it has to do with the scoring system. I'm in two IDP leagues. In one there are only four defensive players in the top 100 in scoring from last year, with Willis the highest at 82. In the other league there are 35 defenisve players in the top 100, with Willis once again the highest but this time at 16.

Added defensive scoring:

1 pt for every solo tackle

.5 pts for every assisted tackle

2 pts for every sack

2 pts for every INT

2 pts for every forced fumble

2 pts for every fumble recovery

6 pts for every TD

5 pts for every safety

5 pts for every blocked kick
