Marc Bulger signs with the Ravens (1 Viewer)

Adam Schefter, from ESPN, reports the Ravens and former Rams quarterback Marc Bulger reached agreement on a one-year, $3.8 million deal.

I like Troy Smith too, but he might get traded after this move. No way they keep 4 QBs IMHO. John Beck was a Cam Cameron draft pick in Miami, and he's still not ready to let him go (he should).

Smith has been wanting out of BMore, and this might be an indication of their plans for him.

Isn't 3.8 million a bit steep for a backup QB? Not sure where this move makes sense at all on any front.

It is a lot of money for a backup QB, but the Ravens feel they have a team that can win it all with Flacco, and if you put Troy Smith in there, they aren't sure they can beat the Lions, Browns, or Rams. At least that is my guess.

WOW

Says a ton about what they think their chances are this year. As for Troy Smith - what a kick in the gut but the reality is he is too small anyway.

:hophead: Smith knows he's stuck behind Flacco forever here. He's been making noise for months about wanting to go somewhere where he can play as more than a gimmick. I feel for Smith. I remember thinking when Boller was here that if Troy - with his head and heart - had Boller's body, he could be an All Pro. I think he's got the intangibles a good QB needs, just not as many of the tangibles.

As for signing Bulger, I suppose it's a good move for the Ravens. It's been hard for me to tell the last couple of years whether he's lost it or if the Rams were just so damned bad that John Unitas would've feared for his life. Hopefully, Bulger is an insurance policy that won't need to be cashed.
