To gain an accrued season, he'd have to play in (or, technically, be on full pay status for) six games, which means that he can miss up to ten games. (To play in six games, he'd have to sign before the 8th game if he's placed on the roster exempt list, since that would force him to sit out an additional three games after he signs.)Gaining an accrued season probably doesn't matter, though, since he already has five of them.I voted ten, but I could also see him missing 16 pretty easily as long as he can get credit for serving his suspension while sitting out.Voted: 7.Because I don't think he'll get traded and (although I think he would like to sit out the whole season just to screw with AJ) to gain an accrued season he would have to sign before the 8th game (I forget exactly why this is the case).
Is the bolded even a possibility Maurile? Wouldn't the suspension carry over to next year if he didn't sign and didn't play a in single game all year?To gain an accrued season, he'd have to play in (or, technically, be on full pay status for) six games, which means that he can miss up to ten games. Jason La Canfora says that the suspension will be served from weeks 1–3 this season regardless of whether Jackson has signed his tender. Is the bolded even a possibility Maurile? That's a compelling argument I must say.I voted entire season. It's not because I am a Charger-hating Raiders fan. I'm not actually. I have followed VJax's entire career and was excited about his talent since back in the day. Here's why:Yes, a trade seems enticing to some. VJax's talent is undeniable. But let me list the reasons why it wont happen:1) Trade parameters would have to be to find a team that wants to pay around 4 years/$47.5M that Brandon Marshall received. 2) Trade partner would be a team willing to part with at least 2 second rounders (what Marshall went for). I personally don't think that AJ accepts low ball offers out of spite or principle.3) Trade partner would have to endure at the very least the 3 game suspension, whether he is traded before or after serving it. 4) Trade partner takes on the risk of one more DUI, (he has had 2 DUI's in 5 years = high risk) from a year long suspension. 5) That team takes on a receiver who has never produced like a Brandon Marshall, even though it can be argued that he has had the better quaterback in San Diego his entire career.6) San Diego GM AJ Smith is a ruthless negotiator, and will not back down to VJax's demands, certainly wont overpay him. He knows he has some less talentled VJax clones at WR, and an elite QB. Losing VJax is akin to the Saints losing Colston. It hurts, but I wouldn't knock the Saints down even a peg. The Chargers wouldn't miss a beat. VJax is seriously overvaluing his impact.7) As MT has stated, VJax has 5 years in, and doesn't need the time served. As this drags on to the 7th week, and he is still on the roster exempt list, the trade talk will likely wither and die, and the season will be lost. At that point, I doubt that he comes in for his $40k gamechecks.8) Going into a possible lockout year, teams have uncertainty of the cap in the future. Until that is settled, why would anyone take on the risk of the kind of guaranteed money VJax is demanding? It becomes a sign and trade type deal where teams must court VJax prior to be willing to offer AJ their low ball trade. It's all about as smooth as Bruce Willis escaping the Nakatomi plaza with just some bloodied feet and a slight limp.

I don't agree with this. Look at Leon Washington, who played despite wanting a new contract and lost millions of dollars due to a catastrophic injury. He will never make that money back at his age. I don't know whether VJax is bluffing or not, but he and his agent have to know that AJ Smith doesn't budge, and I believe it was telling when he refused to sign his tender and the Chargers cut it -- if he isn't going to play for 3 million, why would he play for much less?Go deep said:3, when it comes down to it, he is going to play. It makes absolutley no sense for him to sit out past his suspension. I cant blame a guy for bluffing, but only pride will keep him from playing.

Or Dominik Hixon. Poor guy tears his ACL, and the Giants toss his worthless butt to the wolves. http://theredzone.org/BlogDescription.aspx?EntryId=8230or javon walker -- the same thing happened with him when he was in green bay.I don't agree with this.
