I decided against the fake email contest at the last second here and we are going to open up the number of merit-based spots to 40.

Please post just once in this thread while stating your case on why you should be selected. Please keep your post below 500 words. Tell us what makes you a worth competitor in this contest, accolades won, etc.

Good luck to all

1. Low member number... as long as the other 477 below me aren't registering too.

2. I've won a lot of my league championships... not that anyone at FBG can verify this.

3. I was right about Philip Rivers...

:crossesfingers:

ETA: How many guys who post mainly in the Shark Pool have more than 10,000 posts? Not that quantity equates to quality...

Hey guys, I would like to participate again. I played the last two years, am very flexible with the draft dates, and types of leagues, I advanced out of the first round last season and came up just short of advancing again. I have some un-settled business and I'd really like to be selected again. I visit the forums multiple times a day, am a first time subscriber this season! I wrote the Marshawn Lynch to teach driver's ed article to get me in last year and hoping I can be so lucky to be selected again.

1. I am "excellent" to everyone.....except those in my leagues who FBG's help me dominate

2. active participant in Anarchy leagues, SSL's, PDSL's, WSL's, and FBG contests

3. I will draft Devin Aromashodu way before I should if selected to participate

4. I made out several times with country singer Sara Evans who went to my high school

thank you

I have pissed off lots of people on this board who would love to get a chance to play against me.

Been here since the days of the yellow board.

Have been to the playoffs the first 4 years of the HA1. I think I'm the winningest regular season team but haven't won the SB yet.

My main league, and a sister league with guys who split off to make their own league, has a salary cap, player contracts, option years, restricted free agency (Franchise and Transition tag), draft pick compensation, and signing bonuses. Each owner has a 6 foot banner with his team logo and a mini helmet. We award a large trophy and Superbowl ring to the winner. I won the main league three years ago and the sister league last year.

I don't put my roster in my signature.

I make a mean steak as long as you like rare or medium rare.

I stopped posting in political threads because it's pointless. Nobody is convincing anyone of anything.

I'm one of Joe Bryant's Facebook friends.

I have a 2 year old and a 7 week old. I don't get out much or sleep. I need this.

Dodds is only accepting 40. Some of you guys are gonna have to try harder than this.

I think the guy that sucked face with Sara Evans has my vote on that alone though.

(I'm not looking to get in by the way. I suck at FF and am intimidated by other message boarders)

Because I picked the Superbowl!

QUOTE (mattsam @ Feb 4 2010, 02:08 PM)

Saints 31 Colts 17

QUOTE END (mattsam @ Feb 4 2010, 02:08 PM)

Very nicely done mattsam.

Mattstrodomus!

BTW: I just had my 4th Daughter! (no boys) and I can't wait to get into Football this year. I NEED any football I can get.

I have been around since yellow and try to give opinions on the Assistant Coach when I have the time. I am in 7 leagues-three dynasty, two re-drafts, one keeper, and one auction so I have a wide array FF knowledge. Last year I made the playoffs in all but HyperActive 3 and 4. I was in the championship game in 4 leagues and came out on top twice. I have 13 years of experience at the old age of 31.

I truly enjoy FF and it is a year-round hobby for me. I never take a week off and am constantly scanning the internet, papers, and magazines from 3 years ago to get new information. So in other words I am an active owner. I am passionate about my hobbies and my family and know the proper order there.

I think I was let into this last year. Anyways we drafted and went 6 weeks. I captured the last spot to move on to the next draft. I did a decent amount of research and went into the draft feeling pretty good about my chances. That turned out pretty poorly for me. Brett Favre, Terell Owens, and Mike Sims-Walker decided to sit out that portion of the year. I was toast. It was a play-all and I think I won 3 games. Total. It was absolutley brutal. So I decided I was going to have to study a lot harder and would really have to re-think things if I were to be fortunate enough to be choosen again and moved onto the next round. I decided that all the preseason studying would have to be thrown out and I would start over like it was a new season completely. I have never lost like that and do not intend to do it again even against such stiff competition. I hope I learned from my mistakes.

So I ask that I be let into this league even if it is not the same one as above. I enjoy tough opponents and will do well. Thanks-Rusty

I would like to participate in the US contest again this year.

I have played the past couple of years.

I commish the Hyper/Active leagues, which include many staffers and FBG regulars.

I draft in each of the Survivor leagues on the Mock Draft forum.

I offer my advice in the ACF as much as possible.

I am active in the Shark Pool during both in season and offseason.

I am a former FBG blogger.

I stepped in mid-draft last year when a drafter bailed.

I am flexible and available for almost any drafting time.

I filled a team at the last minute last season. Took that team to round 2 (with little preparation to understand rules & scoring). Just missed advancing to next round by a few points. I'd like to avenge that performance. When I look at both my leagues, in league 1 I finished 2nd for all 17 weeks and leg 2 league 2 i finished 3rd for all 17 weeks. I have countless redraft titles on my resume and a killer dynasty squad that I've built along with 2 other decent ones. I post on the assistant coach forum from time to time. If selected, I'll go over there even more...also, if I win a free FBG's subscription and use it then there is a good chance I could become a regular customer.

Year round active participant in the Shark Pool and all survivor leagues. FBG rep for the IBL (where I've done well). Finalist in the inaugural ULT SURV. Ran the short lived, high effort White Elephant FBG league for 2 years. Active in multiple dynasty leagues populated primarily by FBG's. Driving 5 hours to Baltimore Saturday just to draft with other FBG's in a live draft!

ETA: With two summertime science classes heading into the final week, I really have no time this week to spend on captions, etc., or I'd be blasting away at those things in a desperate attempt to get in.

Cause I am that damn good? Should be enough considering the whooping i continue to put on staffers like Bloom, Borberly, Rudnicki and Pasquino in the Red Dog League. ( I am the current champ)

What are we trying to kiss up for again? :lmao:

Okay, here it is, your choice... it's simple, them or me, and I'm sure they are all really great. But, I love you, in a really, really big pretend to like your taste in music, let you eat the last piece of cheesecake, hold a radio over my head outside your window, way.

So pick me, choose me, love me.

I won the Message Board - Staff survivor league back in 2005 and captained the 2006 team that failed to repeat with a much different format.

I'm active on the boards (135th all-time in posts) but not in a clique (never banned or warned). I'm active on the IDP forum + subforum, the Shark Pool, the FFA, and formerly the Assistant Coach and Test forums (RIP  ).

I'm always competitive in my leagues, making the playoffs pretty much regardless of the format. I don't tend to win the final game as much as I'd like to, but I do here and there.

I enjoyed the competition back in 05 and 06 and would love to get back in after a few years off.

Because I am a raider

Should be easy to beat someone like me. Although I haven't mentioned that I consistently win or at least make the championship game in most my leagues.

and, I'd be thankful

Please pick me. I want in. I am active on FBG forums, was 2009 Street Team Member, been a FBG subscriber for multiple years (don't remember how many :6+?), play in multiple formats (dynasty/keeper, IDP, auction). I volunteer my time in the community as a youth sports coach; I am the breadwinner in a single income household with 3 boys.

Please pick me. I want to play the game with the "big boyz"!

On a side note.... I had pizza with NC Gov Perdue tonight. She showed up at the local Z-Pizza. That should count for something.

I am a dynamic figure, often seen scaling walls and crushing ice. I have been known to remodel train stations on my lunch breaks, making them more efficient in the area of heat retention. I translate ethnic slurs for Cuban refugees, I write award-winning operas, I manage time efficiently. Occasionally, I tread water for three days in a row.

I woo women with my sensuous and godlike trombone playing, I can pilot bicycles up severe inclines with unflagging speed, and I cook Thirty-Minute Brownies in twenty minutes. I am an expert in stucco, a veteran in love, and an outlaw in Peru.

Using only a hoe and a large glass of water, I once single-handedly defended a small village in the Amazon Basin from a horde of ferocious army ants. I play bluegrass cello, I was scouted by the Mets, I am the subject of numerous documentaries. When I'm bored, I build large suspension bridges in my yard.

I enjoy urban hang gliding. On Wednesdays, after school, I repair electrical appliances free of charge.

I am an abstract artist, a concrete analyst, and a ruthless bookie. Critics worldwide swoon over my original line of corduroy evening wear. I don't perspire. I am a private citizen, yet I receive fan mail. I have been caller number nine and have won the weekend passes. Last summer I toured New Jersey with a traveling centrifugal-force demonstration. I bat .400. My deft floral arrangements have earned me fame in international botany circles. Children trust me.

I can hurl tennis rackets at small moving objects with deadly accuracy. I once read Paradise Lost, Moby ****, and David Copperfield in one day and still had time to refurbish an entire dining room that evening. I know the exact location of every food item in the supermarket. I have performed several covert operations for the CIA. I sleep once a week; when I do sleep, I sleep in a chair. While on vacation in Canada, I successfully negotiated with a group of terrorists who had seized a small bakery. The laws of physics do not apply to me.

I balance, I weave, I dodge, I frolic, and my bills are all paid. On weekends, to let off steam, I participate in full-contact origami. Years ago I discovered the meaning of life but forgot to write it down. I have made extraordinary four course meals using only a mouli and a toaster oven. I breed prizewinning clams. I have won bullfights in San Juan, cliff-diving competitions in Sri Lanka, and spelling bees at the Kremlin. I have played Hamlet, I have performed open-heart surgery, and I have spoken with Elvis. I also plagiarize.

I'd love to participate again. Been around awhile and try to contribute to threads without getting in arguments. I've done a number of freelance articles over the years. I've played in some great leagues with other FBGs and staff members. I won my league in the staff-MB triathlon in 2006. I placed 4th overall in the first year of Ultimate Survivor. Last season, I just missed advancing to the second round. I volunteered to draft for two other guys who couldn't make their second round drafts (Thanks Bass and Andy). I also hung around for the last second round draft and took over a team when a guy didn't show up. Despite those three chances, all the teams completely sucked and weren't close to advancing to the final round (Sorry Bass and Andy). I have to be due, right? Right!?

Well...

- I play in many dynasty and redraft leagues with some very tough competitors from around the boards, including including Co-Commish of the very competitive Fantasy Recruits leagues, full of some quality FBG posters/subscribers. No staff members yet though :goodposting:

- Lifetime subscriber to FBG's. Also competed in the Ultimate Survivor last season, got WAY TOO CLOSE and finished 6th overall. I need another shot this year!

- I'm a very active poster in both the SP and the AC forums year round, although not as much as I'd like to these recently. I believe I've contributed some very worthwhile threads to the Forum since joining (like here, here, here)

- Former guest article submitter for FBG's, as well as a year of freelance article writing for another quality site (not name dropping)

- And now...for the sympathy plug...currently on a 6 month temporary assignment for the Air Force away from home. I could use something like this while here!

I appreciate the opportunity to participate in this year’s Ultimate Survivor. I think that this and the member’s season long contest are two of my favorite activities as the season approached.

I am a Shark Pool season long participant and always strive to be excellent. I am not that humorous and have difficulty scoring well in the photo caption contests. I personally favored the Haiku contests from a while back. As I have time, I occasionally do my best to respond to questions on the AC Forums. I am a very active poster in the Player Spotlight Threads and enjoy posting and defending projections about the featured players. This is one of my favorite activities to prepare for the upcoming season.

I have participated in the Mock Draft Forum survivors for several seasons and acted as Captain of one league. I am also active in post-draft analysis, providing team ratings, sharing and analyzing draft strategies. I finished second in one of the Anarchy’s Leagues last season. I have participated in the Reunion League, spawned following one of the Mock Draft survivors about six years ago.

I have played in two local redraft leagues for the past seven years and competed in redrafts for the past ten seasons, winning one of the leagues three out of the past four seasons. I am also involved in three dynasty leagues (Misfits and HA) involving several FBG posters.

I represented FBG last season in the IBL League and have committed to participating again this season. I relish the opportunity to compete against staffers and other FBGs in this Ultimate Survivor and look forward to the challenge.

I got asked last year on the merit of posting, without asking to be picked. However, it was a lot of fun and I like trying a new format, which makes asking in the best way to do it again :)

I take the time to think things through before I act, I've got some dominant teams out there, like at FFCafe and Zealots, and I spend a lot of time on it. I'd do the same thing with the draft prep for US as well, and can definitely be competitive.

Plus, who doesn't want the chance to say "Well yeah I'm the best...I won Ultimate Survivor." :hifive:

ETA: Also one of the founders of the recent "QB or not QB" Dynasty league begun here in FBG own Mock Draft Forums

I recently graduated from college with a degree in Philosophy during the highest period of national unemployment in decades.

Trust me, I don't have anything better to do with my time.

Oh man, I'd love a spot - pick me, pick me! I don't have much to toot my horn over, but I've been around the boards for a while and haven't participated in any FBG leagues or anything yet. I'm a pretty good/active owner and would love to see what it's like in the "big leagues".

I had a blast in this contest last year and would appreciate another opportunity!

I will slightly reword my plea from last year:

I have 2.5 year old triplets and have a strained budget. I allow myself (i.e. can afford) one money league to play in (same league for 12 years) so playing in a second would be nice.

I never played in a survivor league before last year's contest but still managed to finish first in my group (league 4). I have been in my money league's Superbowl 5 times in 12 years (won 2). I am an average Joe and I think I can be competative.

I have been coming to this site even before it was FBG. And even though I visit FBG daily, even during the offseason, I do not post very often though regularly. I post when I have something to ask or add value, not just to increase my post count or to hear myself talk. I try to be as excellent as I can and try to follow all the rules.

Thanks again for the consideration.

PS: Although he probably deserves it on his own merits, I just wanted to give a shout-out and recommendation for ConstruxBoy. Although he didn't have to, he transfered one of his extra memberships to me last year. Very nice gesture on his part.

I had a great time with this last year despite getting booted in the final week of the first leg.

some things:

- I have competed in nearly every Survivor league in the mock draft forums since the very first year they started, So I am very familiar with the format. I won SSL2 last year and have finished top 3 on several other occasions. I am usually very active in post draft analysis and love writing about FF in general. I'd be happy to offer draft analysis for this contest as well

- I was one of 12 representatives in the Interboard challenge league. This league was composed of 96 total teams from eight fantasy football message boards. I won the Individual Championship - 1st out of 96 teams.

- I have participated in the No Mercy leagues with many other more "famous" FBGers for four years. I've moved up the ladder each year and won my league last year.

- Won two draftmasters leagues last year.

- Entering the FBG Players championship this year.

- I am commissioner of two redraft leagues that have been going strong for over ten years and one dynasty leagye that is entering it's 2nd year.

- I don't post a ton in the shark pool, mainly because the nature of my job makes it difficult to post during the work day. However, FBG and fantasy football are always on my mind. I have listened to every single episode of the audible and have read at least 75% of the articles put out by the site. I still get excited hearing Cecil and Sigmund say my name on the podcast!

I love FBG and would be ecstatic to get another opportunity to play in the Ultimate Survivor league.

Thanks guys, for all that you do.

I would love to be considered for this contest this year.

1) 3rd Place finish in last year's FBG IDP Contest.

2) I would be the only Brazilian in the contest! If I'm in I will volunteer to be your tour guide in your next visit to Brazil! (wives not allowed)

3) Contributor to IDP/ SP forums.

4) Probably the only poster in here using Genetic Algorithms during Auction Drafts. :goodposting:

July 19th is my birthday. Yesterday was the first year that I didn't receive a box in the mail on my bday (got a few cards though). Normally I at least get a shipment of cookies from my mom, but she said it's been too hot to be running the oven. It's not a big deal though, I just turned 31, I'm too old to be getting birthday presents in the mail from Grandma.

FFB wise... I'm not that great. I DID make the finals in my dynasty/salary cap league last year and I HAVE progressed in Braven's "Draftmaster's" leagues every year (from C league to B, A and now Premiere league this year http://www25.myfantasyleague.com/2009/home/12879#0 )... but a redraft title in any meaningful $$$ league has eluded me thus far.

FBG wise... I've been a subscriber for 3 straight years now. I'm not a great sharkpool contributer... but I read all year round and during the season I'll post news articles I think are important if noone else has posted them yet.

Why I think I'm deserving of a slot is because I'm super enthusiastic about FFB... I love it. There are only 1 or 2 other owners in any of my leagues that are even close to as active as me. There little to no chance that I'll hold up any draft by being late or missing a pick. Also, it'd be a great honor to compete against such highly skilled players as those on the staff here.... big time.

Every team I've drafted in the last 4 years has been a contender.

I'm usually thee most active owner in my leagues.

FF dominates my other hobbies 9 months of the year.

Unless a top QB falls to me, or it's an auction draft, I'm more than happy with an Eli Manning type QB late.

This is my 2nd year as a subscriber.

I am a true FF fanatic...case in point: Last year I paid over $200 in league fees and FF information sites, including Footballguys.com, to win a total of $75 but more importantly our league's perpetual trophy where I can display it on my desk where my boss (who I beat in the finals) has to look at it every day!

Hey if we are talking Top 40, why not talk about America's top 40, a la Casey Kasem

Up 3 spots to number 30, he showed holding out won't affect him, it's WR Michael Crabtree out of Texas Tech....

and at number 1 this week, rocketing up the charts, with his new contract it's Chris Johnson....

keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars....

I do a lot of mock drafts, answer AC when I can; I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!

Of course I would love to try again.

1. I post in the Asst Coach mostly in the end. And not just one word answers. I like to explain why

2. I helped out 2 years ago coming in at last second to help things out. Got an invite last year.

3. I have participated in the SL leagues and done very well with them

4. The Peoples Champ in IDP Survivor 2008(Finished 3rd behind 2 staff members)

5. And for the pity vote, I am crippled, poor and Canadian. This makes me good for anytime

1. I am "excellent" to everyone

2. Veteran of Survivor format / discussion and active participant in Anarchy leagues, SSL's, PDSL's, WSL's, and FBG contests

3. Apparently I'm the most Unfunny fbg on the board - never be picked for these things

4. Rarely start threads - always search and add to what is there never thinking I'm the "Breaking News" guy

5. I was under the impression from year 1 that as unfunny as I was, each year "new talent" would be chosen for these things. :pickme:

6. Not part of any sub-cliques that mock and rag on FBG powers that be.

7. Try to help if I can wether it comes to vacation spots, technical info in my field, handyman projects or local Jets news...

8. When Dodds posts a Stone Cold Lock of The Century I go ALL-IN. :wall:

I'm a 5 digiter and mostly a lurker but have been a subscriber longer than I have been active on the forums and would appreciate the opportunity to participate. I really have only participated in my local home leagues but thanks to FBG have been very competitive the past couple of seasons. Everbody likes an underdog, I think I could fill that role. Thanks.

I'd like to compete again please.

Long time member, subscriber, weekly forum write up in season, FBG contributor...

TY for your consideration.

Long time subscriber

Very active in season and off-season in the Pool.

Participate heavily in the Survivor Leagues in the Mock Drafts Forum

Represent FBG in the IBL(Inter-board challenge) and brought home the individual points title last season in that league for FBG! #1 out of 96.
