does anyone have anymore info on how this shakes down:

this is all I know:

24 man rosters

$200 cap

Draft is at ESPN but League will be at MFL

I don't see my team on the league site, how do we get in....how does the draft actually roll, meaning how long are bids open when a player is nominated, etc.....will this be an all night thing or will it go pretty quick...etc...

looks like you need a password to join the league....

Just logged into the league, I didn't claim a team as there was no option to do so. I created one and took a spot, probably yours. No big deal since all the spots are there and as you create your team it bumps the placeholder. You should have an email invite.

eta: just did a mock auction, part of one actually. I am a dead man.

I was thinking this was going to be a slow auction since this is Aug 11th...oh well...wish I knew this in advance. Clayton said one night, how long do these rapid fire auctions actually last? 2 hrs? 4 hrs? Need to know ASAP.

 
okay...saw my invite and created my team......

would be nice to get some idea about how the draft will actually go down so know what to expect and do some preparation......

I also thought this was going to be slow, so it would be nice to know how much time we need to set aside.....

Colin Dowling is actually going to take my spot as my daughter won a Karate award at the last minute and the award presentation is the same time as this auction.

Selection Format - Auction

Starting Lineup - 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 flex (RB, WR, TE), 1 PK, 1 TD

QB, RB, WR, TE Scoring

Passing TD - 4 points

Rushing / Receiving TD - 6 points

Passing Yard - 0.05 points

Rushing / Receiving Yard - 0.1 points

Reception - 1 point for QB, RB, WR

Reception - 1.5 points for TE

Turnover - (-1) point

2-point Conversion (passing / rushing / receiving) - 2 points

PK Scoring

PAT - 1 point

FG (1 to 30 yards) - 3 points

FG (31+ yards) - 0.1 points per yard (example - 45-yard FG would be 4.5 points)

TD Scoring

Sack - 1 point

INT - 2 points

Fumble Recovery - 2 points

TD - 6 points

0 points allowed - 12 points

1 to 6 points allowed - 8 points

7 to 10 points allowed - 5 points

 
I am assuming that we HAVE to have 24 players at the end of the draft....

is there something (system) that will prevent us from overspending and a scenerio where we still need 10 guys but we only have $9...

if not, what is the penalty...?

would hate to see the draft affected and a bunch of "oops, I'm sorry", meanwhile guys outbid people earlier in the drafts and we just go "oh well" at the end......

 
I'm pretty amped about the auction . Dodds lame, lame, lame excuse is harshing my buzz. Oh well.

Whats in this for the winners of the whole sha-bang-bang? double digit number?

Every auction software I've ever used prevents you from overbidding.

Every auction software I've ever used prevents you from overbidding.

Actually I'm most curious the order in which it all played out.

I may have to suck it up and go auction next year if I'm lucky enough to be in the contest even though I'd probably totally get killed in the format.

I'll post more later, but I overspent on Rodgers by clicking wrong button. That said I adapted or kept digging. I only drafted the 1 QB. I'll roll him out every week and see what happens. certainly not my worst effort but its up there.

OK first one done so here are my thoughts.

First of all, I think WVU and I had the same crib notes as we bid on the same players and to the same amounts. People vastly overspent at RB early. I tweaked my rankings for the byes and scoring system and here are some randon thoughts.

The top 5 RBs went right about where I projected them.

Drew $57 v. $56 (my value for him)

CJ $60 v. $55

Rice $56 v. $53

Jackson $46 v. $47

ADP $56 v. $42 (discounted for the bye)

Top QBs

Rodgers $51 v. $41

Brees $37 v. $37

Manning $31 v. $33

Schuab $18 v. $21

Kolb $16 v. $18

Top WRs

Fitz $36 v. $42

White $28 v. $37

AJ $39 v. $35

Wayne $29 v. $35

CJ $27 v. $30

Top TEs

Gates $26 v. $37

Clark $30 v. $33

Finley $17 v. $26

Davis $16 v. $25

Gonzo $15 v. $23

Where the spending went crazy was on the mid tier players early on.

Romo went for $26 (mid tier because onf the bye)

Moreno $21

Schilens $9

Meachum $10

When this started to occur I sat back and let people burn up their money which left plenty of bargains on the board. Anyway here's my roster and thoughts as i drafted.

QB: Schuab $18 actual cost / $21 projected (7 bye), Stafford $3 / $6 (7), Smith $4 / $5 (9)

I grabbed Schuab early after I saw the other QBs going at or near the values I projected. Once the spending started to go above my projections I decided to wait and grab some value later such as Stafford at $3. Probably didn't need Smith but 3 QBs are nice and it took one away for someone else. No bye week issues here.

RB: Benson $26 / $28 (6), Grant $26 v. $33 (10), Bush $10 / $17 (10), Caddy $6 / $8 (4), Hightower $5 / $16 (6), Buckhalter $2 / $10 (9)

Grant came early at a bargain. Benson was taken early as RBs flew off the board. My strategy was to get a bunch of second tier backs to post two scores for me. I missed out on several guys as Iggle and WVU also held back ammo for later in the draft. Really wanted McFadden to pair with Bush. He went for $6 v. the $9 I had projected, but at this point in the draft I was hunting 50% off value. Caddy is the only RB I will have off during this competition. I really didn't want Buckihalter, just seem like to big of a value. Derrick Ward should have been the selection instead, but I forgot about him.

WR: Ocho $21 / $27 (6), Mason $5 / $10 (8), Douglas $3 / $4 (8), Gonzalez $3 / $1 (7), Avery $5 / $4 (9), Henderson $3 / $1 (10), Moore $5 v. $1 (10)

OK I really screwed the pooch here. I got Ocho cheap early and thought I could find similair bargains later. I held onto too much cash and ran out of talent to draft. One of; Smith (either), Sims Walker, or Evans, all would went where I expected, would make this crew look better. Why so much on Avery, henderson, and Moore??? I had extra cash left over with too few picks remaining. All could have been had for $1 or $2. One the plus side I have no bye issues. Ocho was my WR8, Mason WR22, Avery WR41, and Douglas WR44. I'm high on Gonzalez in this format. Hoping Moore/Henderson can make a solid WR3 between them. I'll lose points to most everyone else here but I think the bleeding will be minimal.

TE: Gates $26 / $37 (10), Winslow $7 v. $12 (4), Miller $7 v. $17 (10)

Now we're talking. I secured Gates early at a huge discount. I even successfully bid up some of the other TEs to make this pick stronger. People then stopped nominating TEs and I knew there would be value to be had. I had Miller ranked at #51 overall so $7 was a steal. I'm not sure if everyone fully accounted for the 1.5 ppr for TEs. Since I can start two (one as a flex), I should cover my WR deficiency and then some.

D: Pitt $3 (5), Philly $6 (8)

These two fell about right value wise. Needed a third to cover the Pitt bye but had to attempt to salvage the WR spot.

K: Gartkowski $2 (5), Gould $2 (8), Vintieri $2 (7)

I thought there would be a kicker squeeze so I took mine early at decent prices. Only Gart has a bye.

Overall I only losing 4 of 24 slots to a bye and am cover at those slots. Feel pretty good about this team outside of WR. Values at QB/RB/TE should make this team a contender.

Looking at this like a re-draft and slotting these guys to a round drafted.

2nd rd - Gates, Grant

3rd - Benson, Schuab

4th - Ocho

5th - Miller

6th - Winslow

7th - Caddy

8th - Bush

9th -

10th - Mason, Hightower, Philly

11th - Stafford, Pitt

Looking at it like this I came out pretty decent especially when some of the guys like Moss/Witten/Mendy would be discounted a full round or two to account for the byes.

Based on my rankings it looks more like this:

1st - Gates

2nd - Grant, Benson

3rd - Ocho, Schuab

5th - Miller, Bush, Hightower

6th - Philly, Winslow

7th - Mason, Buckhalter

8th - Caddy

10th - Stafford

11th - Avery, Douglas

12th - Smith

 
I finished up with pick 213, roughly 75 more picks were made after this. Glad I didn't have to sit/sort through that fodder.
