Most of all be excellent to each other.

The Bengals have had Baltimore's number here of late. But whereas they previously did it with their very effective receiving corps, last year they swept the Ravens behind Ced Benson's two 100-yard rushing days and an impressively stout secondary.

With a short week of preparation behind them, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see Baltimore struggle again today.

Flacco looking very ill at ease on his first two possessions, missed a wide open receiver a couple of plays ago when the Bengals blew a coverage. And by missed, I mean didn't see the guy running loose 20 yards behind the secondary.

With Jordan Shipley making a couple of catches, the Bengals put together a pretty nice drive from deep in their own territory. Balt. sticking to 3- and 4-man rushes, apparently preferring to give lots of help to that woeful secondary (which wasn't challenged by Sanchez last week). I think I saw Lardarius Webb back there a minute ago, which is encouraging.

Benson once again running effectively against the Ravens.

Thanks for the updates. Benson looking as good as his stat line? I made him a last minute sub based on last years success vs Balto.

He's not gashing the Ravens for big yards (yet) but had a couple of very productive runs, including one where he left Ray Lewis grabbing air as he ran for a first down.

After the Cincy FG, Flacco (now 1-5, 1 passing yard) throws a pick to Pacman Jones. Very dangerous time for the Ravens and very disturbing that Flacco's lack of production continues.

I like the Bengals secondary very much.

So bengals secondary playing well make Brady and pats performance even more impressive? I know some (myself included) tempering enthusiasm of offensive performance due to the competition.

Maybe. They were very tough against the Ratbirds twice last year.Bengals squander the opportunity here when Palmer misses a wide open TO in the endzone after the Oline had done a wonderful job picking up a huge Ravens blitz. 6-0 Cincy. The shot of Jim Zorn reviewing photos with Flacco on the sideline does not fill me with confidence.

Scott looks like a better RB at this point. Not saying they are going to sit Benson or anything but at some point Scott is going to get his shot, even if it's next year.

I just do not understand these coaches...

For Balt, ray rice gets 7 yards on first down run. 2nd down, mcgahee rush for no gain. 3rd and 3? Pass to mcgahee for no completion. Why the hell would you take out Ray rice when he was just getting in a groove?

On the other side, they are doing the same thing with benson and Scott. Benson gets it to 3rd and 1, and then they for some reason put Scott in for the short yardage play, and he gets stopped for no gain.

I swear, if you have a stud running back, how do you expect him to get into a rhythm if you run him 2 or 3 times and then take him out?

I don't think any of us here in Baltimore pictured the season starting with six quarters of ineffectiveness by the offense.

The only way for Baltimore to get it together is to have Flacco pass more. Forget running, forget a balanced offense. They got Housh and Boldin so now they are the Colts.

Ok for one not watching the game but owning Flacco as the QB before Roethlisberger gets back - tell me...

How worried should I be? The numbers certainly tell me to turn into a full blown panic mode!

I'm in the EXACT same position. The ravens came out firing after halftime it looks like. Flacco to Mason for a 31 yard TD. Flacco was 4 for 5 for 69 yards on that drive. Maybe we shouldn't push the panic button quite yet.

If the Bengals end up losing this game, which remains very much in doubt, they're gonna think of this as one that got away from them. Lots of mistakes when they're in scoring position.

A very nifty 30 yard run by Ray Rice that nearly went all the way and a nice reception by Anquan helps the Ravens retake the lead with a Cundiff FG.

I don't think much of that roughing call. I don't see how Suggs did anything extra. He was tackling Palmer when Palmer still had the ball in his hands.

12-10 Cincy, 4:30 to go. Tense.

Flacco's third interception (tipped at the LOS) leads to another Nugent FG. The Ravens will have about two and a half minutes left but they need a TD now and they haven't exactly filled Baltimore fans with confidence today that they can do it.

Jonathan Joseph limped off the field last series and he's played very well for the Bengals today.

Forgot to mention Bernard Scott's 60-yard kickoff return that led to the previous Cincy FG.

Very nice defensive effort by the Bengals today, good pressure up front, great pass coverage, even took away the dump offs to Ray Rice. This one actually went a lot like the two last year, which were also grind 'em out affairs for the most part.

Carson Palmer now 9-3 against Baltimore. Not many QBs can say that who aren't named Peyton Manning or Tom Brady.

Four INTs for Joe Flacco. Worse, he looked uncomfortable against the rush and seemed to make bad reads all day (this may have been a factor of the aforementioned good coverage). Boldin and Mason were pretty much non-factors in this game and getting the ball to them in the mid-range game is where I thought their strength would be. So far, not so.

Unable to watch the game. Two questions:

1) Did Flacco look as bad as his stat line indicates? If so that would be two weeks in a row in my opinion - leaving me to consider jumping off the band wagon.

2) Any comments on how Bernard Scott looked. I see he had a long return and decent ypc on the few attempts he had.

1) Joe looked uncomfortable in the pocket, slow on his reads and inaccurate on his throws. I thought the Bengals secondary covered well today but Flacco didn't make many plays, either.2) Not enough data. Good vision and burst on the kickoff return. But the Ravens front seven is still pretty strong and you have to take that into consideration.

I disagree. Scott had a great kickoff return, but I certainly don't see where you get that Scott looked better at running the ball. I saw it the other way around, despite the limmited carries for Scott. :)

I had to work and was on the road during most of this game...That said, from what I say of Flacco he looked awful. First play of the game, Boldin went in motion and no one on the Bengals side of the ball moved. To me that says zone not man, nevertheless Flacco stared down Boldin and forced the ball to him with three defenders in the area. Flacco stared down receivers on every play that I saw. Going to watch the game in the am on DVR and can give a better take on the game. From what I saw, Flacco looked horrible. He's down this lob crap, downfield, far too often and hasn't been zipping the ball in there like he should. He did a pizz-poor job of reading the coverages throughout the game. Flacco and the receivers looked to be on different pages of the play book throughout the game...either they were running the wrong routes or he was missing badly. Cincy outplayed Baltimore significantly. The game was only close because Cincy failed to connect on several, several offensive opportunities.

Hard to believe, but Flacco may actually have been worse than his stats. I think Rich Gannon was doing the color for this game, and he was pointing out that Flacco was throwing off of his back foot a lot & wasn't staying low in the pocket. That causes his passes to float and/or be behind the receiver. I don't know why he's doing it - even when he's not under pressure, he's leaning backwards. This isn't to take away from Cincy's D, who matches up very well with the Ravens - I thought they were the best unit on the field yesterday. But Cam/Zorn/some-damned-body needs to get Joe straightened out.The penalty on Suggs was a bad call; the one on Ray worse. But they didn't lose the game because of those plays - they lost because Flacco stunk and because the gameplan, IMO, left something to be desired. And if the Bengals didn't continually shoot themselves in the foot with bad penalties, they'd have won big.

:goodposting: Palmer also missed TO in the endzone after the Ravens had sold out on a blitz and the Cincy Oline did a great job picking it up. You're right, it could've been worse.I thought there was actually some merit to Ray's tripping penalty, though it was pretty clear that he was blocked and that it appeared inadvertent. The call on Suggs was unconscionably bad, however. It was a clean tackle and he was halfway through it before Palmer got rid of the ball. The defense played pretty well, no TDs given up yet this year. But the Bengals defense played even better and they deserved to win.

Carson also missed Ocho wide open in the EZ when the DB fell down.I don't understand why they didn't run more. 38 passes in a one possession game?

i saw this game on TV at a local bar and thought i saw Jim Harbaugh physically hit a referee twice after complaining about a call in the fourth quarter. it happened quickly and i didn't see the replay. looked to me that he wasn't just joking around and i thought it warranted an ejection. anyone else see this?

The personal foul calls on Baltimore in the 4th, the ones Ray Lewis was talking about in the post game...I'll stop watching football if those become routine roughing the passer calls, absolutely pathetic. Goodell should suspend those refs but unfortunately he is the one probably telling him to portect the QBs at all costs.

Palmer and Flacco put on one of the worst passing dispalys of 2 starting QBs I have ever seen. Flacco is in year 3 and should be better but the MNF against the Jets took a big toll on him it seemed.

Palmer was terrible and only worked the dink and dunk most of the day. The pass protection by the OL for both teams wasn't bad either. Bad decision making by both QBs.

i didn't see the play and maybe harbaugh has a right to be mad. but a coach hitting a ref (twice), if he did it, is inexcusable.
