Owen Daniels (1 Viewer)

Don't know what to make of him.

- A paltry 6 catches for 60 yards so far on the year.

- Supposedly no longer limiting his snap counts.

- On film appears somewhat slower/tentative on rehabbed knee.

- Texans lose Duane Brown and emergence of A.Foster means he is/will be held in significantly more to block than previously?

- Andre Johnson hobbled so increased targets at least in short term?

- Now is the time to go after him before he breaks out but he also could never return to form.

Anyone targeting Daniels as a Buy Low candidate?

I picked him up on waivers as a bye week replacement for Winslow. Hoping for the best.
I think if he doesn't perform this week he's done. With Nnamdi blanketing AJ it will be up to Walter/Jones/Daniels to perform so it should be a good measuring stick. If AJ can't play, Nnamdi will shutdown either Jones or Walter... if Daniels can't produce under those conditions I'm not sure when he could?Keep in mind Daniels was very close to a TD last week (a reversed TD call that remarked him down at the 1yd line, and a pass interference in the end zone on the following play which would have been a sure TD).I'm rolling the dice with him one more week.

True. But I believe it was on a very short pass. Not discounting the RZ target but that type of usage is much more in the Kevin Boss "grinder" vein and plenty of replacement-level guys like that. Yet to be seen is the elite "stretch the field" usage like we've seen from him in the past.

Agreed. There have been no signs of that so far this season.

thought about it, but he isn't signed long term and coming off ACL surgery. Most owners are in the Hold mode unless a buyer is giving up something good. I'm not buying on OD unless its a bargain.

Done? Like, for his career? He's 27.

He still hasn't played a full game yet. Kubiak estimated his snaps at 45 last week. He's not fully healed yet.

He probably won't be back to his old self until next year, but he'll be productive again at some point this season. I'd look for his production to truly pick up after the BYE week.

It was an 11 yard pass.

I keep holding him.

Last week rolled out Hernandez instead...noticed Keller still available and picked him up (10 team, pretty shallow bench so Hernandez is back out there)

Thought about dropping Daniels soon for Hernandez again if he does not get snatched up.

Only a matter of time, IMO. His targets have gone up each week. Daniels started a little slower than what I thought, but this guy is one of the best TEs in FF. He'll come around.

Owen Daniels was held out of Thursday's practice with a hamstring injury.

Matt Schaub could be without his No. 1 receiver and his tight end on Sunday. Daniels had been limited all season with a knee injury, but the hamstring is new. Joel Dreessen and James Casey will fill in if Daniels can't play, but the Texans tight end position isn't fantasy relevant at the moment. Sep. 30 - 5:54 pm et

Bad news for Daniels. The part of that report I disagree with is that Joel Dreessen is a big target out there and has pretty good hands. He doesn't have much in the way of moves, but his straight line speed is ok. I could see him being relevant right away if Daniels is out.

I said it in the pre-season and I'll say it again now. Daniels is not going to be the stud people remember anytime soon if ever. The man has now had 3 knee surguries since high school. Daniels was a stud when Houston had an average to below average running game. Now they have a very solid running game. If Johnson, Walter and Jones are healthy, Owen Daniels is really fighting for his targets in the passing game. That would be tough for a healthy Owen Daniels. In dynasty he's a must sell in my opinion. In redraft, I'm SHOCKED that people are holding Daniels over the likes of Hernandez.

3 knee surgeries see Dominique Davis

....which is why Houston never extended him. Make or break year for him, and Houston has plenty to groom when OD does not pan out Casey, Graham, Dreessen

I don't know, I was kind of encouraged that he was listed with a hammy, instead of his knee acting up. With AJ banged-up don't you think they will lean on him a little more, assuming he can go?

Finely owner here, traded for Gonzo, but don't really trust him, grabbed Owen off waivers this week.

So what do you guys think of Daniels going forward?

I haven't seen much of him this year to make any sort of judgment.

According to Kubiak, all year long he's expected OD to be back to his "old self" after the bye. You could see him almost getting there in the Chiefs game. I think he's in for a good second half of the season.

Daniels is the best medicine for any of us that lost Finley or Clark. I traded Kenny britt for him ( Beofre this weekend) and it was worth it . I got depth at WR ( Marhsall-Megatron-both M Williams) . Get a healthy #1 Te this is a blessing if you lost a guy. while he isnt a TD Machine he is usually a steady 10-12 fantasy points a week.

Kubiak said last week that Daniels looked like his old self for the first time this season. With a bye week Owe-D should be almost 100% for the rest of the year. With all the TE injuries I doubt that he is still available in any league, but if he is you should scoop him right away.
