Betts will post a huge game this week! He is available in most leagues, plays the 30th ranked rush d (Arizona) and Thomas and Ivory are banged up. If you need an rb this week, look no further.

My prediction: 80 yards rushing, 5 receptions for 45 yards, 1 TD

Ivory has been limping around the locker room and has fumble issues. Betts is going to blow up and you heard it here first!

not a bad call. I tried this with Kuhn last week and was dead wrong. I'm set at all rb positions right now but props for putting something out there.

Well, I say that. Would it be crazy to start him over all of the below?

Holmes

D. Bryant

Barber

Spiller

Lance Moore

I think dez will have a big game. Toss up between bryant, Moore, and betts. Moore might have the edge, but considering this game is going to be a blowout betts might be the best option.

Ivory is the better back of the two and will get more yards than betts. That said, if he puts the ball on the ground one more time Payton may pull him.

Agree, as a pure runner. In a PPR, I'd start Betts over Ivory. Ivory hasn't been used in the passing game at all, while Betts has some history as a 3rd down back & a veteran presence that Brees will trust. Total yardage rush/recv, I'd say will be close between Ivory & Betts, but Betts will get about 30% of his yards through the air. All assuming PT is inactive and Ivory is a go. If Ivory is questionable or out, Betts will be a must start, IMO. With Ivory in, he's a flex play, at best.

This one is not easy.

Both could be good starts.

Ivory started the game; Betts got most of the opportunities. Yes, Betts was in on every single passing down when they used a RB. However the Saints' best single play preseason or regular was a swing pass that Ivory took to the house during the preseason and I doubt the staff has forgotten about that.

But Ivory was close to breaking two long TD runs.

Both were used by the goal line.

This really could break either way.

Thank you in advance for the "kiss of death."

After looking it over, it looks like Ivory is the better play here over Betts:

Ladell Betts-RB - Saints Oct. 7 - 8:57 am et Ladell Betts played 58 of the Saints' 76 offensive snaps last week with Pierre Thomas (ankle) out.Chris Ivory started but was only on the field for 16 snaps. Still, the touch count was 17 for Betts to 12 for Ivory. Betts was on the field so much because he did a tremendous job in pass protection, something Ivory struggles with. Neither is a great option if Thomas sits again, but note that Ivory remains the goal-line back.Source: New Orleans Times-Picayune

I read that and come to the opposite conclusion. Betts is more trusted in the blocking schemes and thus will see the filed more, and as a result will likely get more touches again in a split. This seems to just come down to whether your league is PPR vs non-PPR. PPR, Betts is a no-brainer; non-PPR, Ivory may make the better play.

But just because Betts is on the field more doesn't mean he'll score you more fantasy points. For example, would you rather have the guy on the field for 4 snaps that's blocking for 4 snaps or the guy on the field for 2 snaps who is rushing or trying to catch a pass on those 2 snaps?I think Ivory has the higher upside but it might be a situation that's best avoided if they are both healthy enough to play.

This might be a good call....

Rotoworld: ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sports Center Friday morning that it's "very unlikely" Pierre Thomas (ankle) will play this week at Arizona.

So much for Coach Sean Payton's mid-week optimism. Beat reporter Jeff Duncan tweeted similar sentiments Friday morning. Schefter explained that Thomas' injury had the look of a 1-2 week absence when it occurred, "and that's going to be the case." Barring a surprising return to practice on Friday, Thomas will give way to Ladell Betts and Chris Ivory this week. Betts is better used in standard scoring and PPR leagues while Ivory is the choice in TD-heavy formats.
