Baltimore has 2nd and goal from the 1 and runs it twice with McGahee, getting stuffed twice. They go for it on 4th down and call a pass from Flacco to Ngata (no, that's not a typo- Haloti Ngata, defensive tackle, was the intended receiver), but Denver gets a huge sack.First off, going for it on 4th and 1 was absolutely the right call. Typically the worst case scenario there is that you get stuffed and give the other team the ball on their own 1 yard line. With that said, the playcall was... puzzling, to say the least. Haloti Ngata is not the kind of guy you should be going to on 4th and goal, and by taking a sack Flacco missed out on the biggest advantage of going for it on the 1 yard line, because Denver starts their drive at the 15 now.On question for Baltimore homers... why does McGahee get all of the goal line work? Is he really better than Rice at it, or do Baltimore coaches just want to keep Rice fresh? Every time I see McGahee in goal-to-go situations, I'm always struck at how mediocre he is at it. And that's being generous. Is Rice just epically terrible?
