Go All in with the Colts (1 Viewer)

No need to bore you with the details - the Colts are hurting all over. But Manning is still alive and kicking, and you know what time it is when he's on the field. I have picked up (in my Dynasty league) Hart, White and Tamme all in the last 10 hours. I don't need any of them to start, but

* Gonzalez can be an impact for years to come (he was a 1st round pick) he's just been hurt since forever . . .

* Hart is great at blitz pick up, and Brown is always hurt

* Tamme could be a weekly starter if Clark is indeed out for the rest of 2010

* White has great hands and can step in for production if Gonzalez, Collie and Garcon (all of whom have been dinged up this year) go down/stay down . . .

I dropped scrubs like Brandon Tate and Mike Tolbert . . .

there is no downside, grab them all while supplies last . . .

No way would I drop Brandon Tate for any of those players in a dynasty league.

i didnt envision dropping Tate after only one week - but after watching the Pats trade for Branch (for a 4th) and target him double digit times (while keeping Tate off the field for quite a bit) and after watching Tate do little - that's telling me that Tate still has a ways to go . . .

Who are we looking at to become the 3rd option in the passing offense with Clark and Collie out? Gonzalez? Tamme?
It's Manning, whoever is open is the option.
Then it will be Tamme. This kid can play.To answer the above: I wouldn't take him over Pettigrew or Watson at this point because both those guys have gotten the job done so far this year and for all we know, Clark could be back in a few weeks.

Everybody realizes that there is a reason many of these guys weren't already starters, right?

Just because Peyton Manning is the QB, doesn't mean the Colts are automatically going to throw for 450 yards and 4 TDs every week. As a Manning owner, I am more resigned ot the fact that his numbers will slip with all the injuries, as his surrounding cast will not be as good as they were.

That's not to say that some WW Colt players won't make viable starters, but part of the problem is (especially as they enter their bye week) - which ones and for how long.

A few thoughts in this regard - "indefinately" can mean next month...but it can also mean 2 weeks from now. 2-6 weeks (as well as "a few weeks") can mean 6...or could mean 2. I own no Colt position players other than Manning, but I'm not sure (especially in shallow leagues or 12 teamers or less) - that it's worth purging your bench, trying to "hit" on tons of Colt players. IMHO, this would be similar to trading all your RBs trying to guess which Shanny RB was going to emerge back in the Denver days. Sure in week 8 it might be White - but what if Collie is back, or Collie is healthy, or Wayne just sees a big bump?

Do they have upside? Sure, but there are other guys likely on the WW who may have a much better chance of putting up numbers for you, rather than chasing after Colt injuries.

Obviously, again this applies to shallow leagues or 12 teamers or less with small to average size benches. 14 teamers+ and deep dynatsy leagues - have at it (although even in dynasty, I'd be slow to waste spots on guys that might only start for a few weeks).

Colts homers: Is Tamme worth a pickup over guys like Watson or Pettigrew?
The problem with Tamme is that he isn't a physical tight end like Clark. When he gets hit hard he has a tendency to fumble the ball. I think he will be a decent tight end but I don't think he gets the targets Clark did. I think whoever is playing the slot is the one that will inherit the targets. Just my opinion.

I can't disagree with all of yours points, but the same thing was said when Collie/Garcon were thrust into the spotlight. I just hope these injuries don't force a 6WRBC (wide receiver by committee) offseason and force me to make some gambles in next year's auctions and drafts. Would I drop prospects in a dynasty league for these guys? Gonzalez yes, White (depends on how deep the rosters are) and probably not any of the other guys. But I wish I could go back in time and pick up Garcon and Collie when injuries struck last season.
