Waiver Wire Defense Wk 8 (1 Viewer)

Bills @ KC DEF.Don't be fooled by the Bills O today. They came off a bye so they were prepared and KC now has the footage.
What worries me about KC is how they let Todd Bouman set back and make some plays with ease, not much pressure at all today..This game should have been dominated by the KC def.

Of all the ones mentioned here and the week 8 schedule which I've briefly eyeballed, I'm liking the Rams hosting the inept Panthers for week 8.

KC seems to be unavailable in most of my leagues, having been used to cover byes this week. They could potentially be dropped in the next few days, but I wouldn't be surprised if the owners who did grab them are hanging on to them for their matchup against Buffalo in week 8 as well.

Yes, I expected them to dominate as well, but after a rough first half, the KC DEF just shut down the Jags. It was good to see some turnovers as well.

NE DST v Farve or Tavaras- you know BB will be ready and if Farve plays it will be like rushing a statur

NE may have been dropped- were at SD week 7

St Louis or Cowboys for me. Im leaning towards Cowboys but will wait and see how they play tonight before finalizing that decision.

The Panthers didn't look inept yesterday.

They dominated the 2nd half. As I said before the game, they are not a high-risk, high-reward, pressure type of defense. They sit back in zones and bend but don't break. Soon as Crennel had a bit of tape on Bouman, they did nothing. I believe 79 total yards, 2 INTs (1 for a TD). Hard to like them much after what Buffalo did yesterday, regardless of how much of a fluke that was. You'll again be relying on turnovers and points allowed.

Here's the best waiver wire strategy: grab whoever's playing an INT-prone QB like Cutler or Favre. Don't overanalyze the matchups and just hope for 3+ INTs from one of these turnover machines.

NE (home) v. Favre the turnover machine

They're playing the Browns in week 9 also (but it's at CLE so I'm not sure I'll keep em around).

STL is a good choice also at home for week 8 since CAR hasn't shown us they have things together yet.

Anyone still rolling w/ SEA @ OAK? I know they've been awful on the road.. but I feel inclined to hold onto them seeing as how they've put up double digits in 4 out of 6 games.

NE for sure. They were available in my 14 teamer too.

May need to remove Dallas of the list after tonight.
Will be hard to feel good about the Cowboys D next week, even if it is the Jags.Really feeling Oakland this week.

Rather than start a new thread, these defenses have been dropped due to bye weeks: Ravens/ Vikings, Yes the Ravens are on bye but IMO opinion they may be worth taking a zero in week 8 to have going forward, likewise the Vikings who have NE in week 8 have Arizona in week 9 and might be a nice option going forward depending on Farve and interceptions. Anyone else seeing defenses on waivers that shouldnt be there and what are you doing about it if they are there?

The Ravens haven't exactly lit it up this year (5 int, 4 fumble rec.), that's probably why they're on your WW. The owner in my league is holding onto them. They're upcoming schedule looks fantasy-tasty especially in weeks 11-13, but I wouldn't pick them up and take a 0 just to get them. Keep playing FA D's week to week and have fun. I've been doing it for years and it's worked out well.

Really like Tampa against the Cards...that could be a huge defensive game for them. Low points and generate some TOs.
But they play at Arizona, where the Cards haven't been quite as generous (weeks 3 and 5 against Oak and NO). Also, TB only has 5 sacks, last in the NFL and they also have a terrible run defense. I can see this one not turning out too well, even though it is against the Cards.

I have been playing the weekly defense strategy and am glad I found this. Beware of the KC-BUF matchup. Ryan Fitzpatrick is lighting it up. I got burned earlier by starting the NE D against Buffalo. I bet many thought that the Ravens against BUF was a slam dunk. I agree with the poster who said to go with teams that play against Favre or Cutler. Favre gives freebies to the other team and Cutler is a sack machine. Since I am not liking any of the WW Ds this week I think I will stick with the Titans against the Chargers.

Denver vs. 49ers might be worth a try too with Smith hurt.
HAHAHAHAHADid you see what Oakland just did to them?
Given how crazy this season has been the Broncos will probably score three defensive touchdowns and return a kickoff for another TD. But I agree after last week's whoopin at home it's pretty near impossible to trust the Broncos on the road - even if Carr is the QB.
They're both on the Road, start DEN D vs Carr.

Yeah I forgot this was the London game. I still don't trust the Broncos after last week even though on paper it should be an outstanding matchup against Carr. Of course, last week's matchup looked outstanding on paper too against a struggling Campbell and the Raiders. Based on what McFadden did, Gore could drop 200 yards on the Broncos this week.

I actually like the reverse of the Cards D vs. Tampa. I think Arizona D outscores Tampa D this week and generates some decent turnovers.

Kind of curious about whether anyone is sticking with KC or looking elsewhere.Jax's offense did well points wise, but KC's DST still got FF points in a variety of ways and put up a good day. The KC defense has just looked great and they're even better at home.Just wondering if the BUF offense is too much of a risk the way things are going.

Anyone still think Dallas is a good option after getting torched by the Giants? JAX on the road is usually a good bet for some turnovers.

What's your scoring system? They simply aren't going to get many sacks. Turnovers are very hard to predict. I could see a couple INTs but they've also had a couple games this year with 0 INTs of the QB. As for points allowed, the Bills are looking pretty good, and there must be a WW defense that's a better bet to allow <20 points.

I'm platooning KC and SF the rest of the year.

I'm taking SF this week. KC gets Buffalo and sorry but Fitzpatick is playing some football right now.

San Fran is playing in London against Denver. Current weather forecast for Sunday is rainy and in the 40s. Couple this with the fact that San Fran flew over there Monday to get acclimated, while Denver is not flying out until today, and you've got the recipe for an abysmal showing by the Broncos. Only thing tempering my enthusiasm is the fact that Smith's starting for SF.

I hate the Cowboys and picked them up to use this week. I think after Monday night's debacle they will be very inspired to kick the Jags butt. The Jags are on the road for the 2nd week in a row, and Dallas after getting embarrassed has the perfect opponent to take it out on. They do have some defensive talent, and should put up a decent game. This is the week everyone is down on them and they put up some Def numbers.

Agreed. I originally picked up STL, but I'm more worried about the Panthers revamping their offense and actually scoring a good bit there.Dropped to pick up DAL even though they'll probably spend a lot of time on the field. I see the sacks and turnovers going their way.

I picked them up too, and I am split on whether they will come out fired up like you said, or come out and kneel over and die with Romo injury, playoff hopes essentially gone, and a short week. Also people using STL, I would say not really a great call. They have played solid defensively but do not generate many turnovers. They did do well fantasy wise against the Chargers but it was all sacks that came when Rivers was airing it out play after play, and they had a big lead. Rams can be run on, and if they don't get a big lead they probably wont do much fantasy wise.

Let's not forget that Dez has been looking good returning punts/kicks so if your league gives points for ST scores as well as DEF you could get some extra points in there. I just picked them (Dallas) up.

In my primary league, Buffalo's defense has scored 7.0 points all year, and that's after 6.0 in Week 1. So that's 1.0 point scored for the whole rest of the year. That has to be the worst performing defense in years?

Tampa vs Hall (ARI) looks like the best bet off the scrap heap.

SEA's offense is pretty decent and getting better.

CHI opponent is on bye, NE DST is typically off the board, and other decent defenses - MIN, GB - are facing good offenses this week.

KC has looked impressive but I'm backing off now vs BUF, hard to expect they will suddenly cool down in KC. Chiefs are a good defense though.
