Romo confirmed left clavicle debacle, generally 8-12 weeks.

Thoughts on Kitna? Worth anything here?

ETA: Report now that Romo is out 8 weeks, no surgery needed.

Against Jacksonville (next week), any QB is worth something. Everyone scores out the ### on them.
 Overall though, lets see what the rest of the game shows. I was shocked when I checked the box score at half and realized he actually completed 2 passes.

I agree with this. As a Romo owner, what choice do I have? It's either Kitna against that horrible Jax D or Garrard against Dallas. For just one week, till Vick comes back from his bye week.

I wouldn't read too much into tonight's performance by Kitna, considering that he hasn't played in a real NFL game in 2 years. He's understandably rusty. But he's got a lot of weapons to work with, so even if his arm isn't what it used to be, I think he can put up respectable numbers (somewhere in the realm of 240/1.5/2).

In deeper leages, Stephen McGee is certainly worth a flyer. He played well in preseason and he's been in the Cowboys' system for 1 1/2 years now. Who knows, maybe he's this year's Tony Romo??

He would be awesome if you played in a league wher you could make up a guy's stats, and just pencil him in for 600 yards and 9 TD's every week.

Debated the value of picking him up as an Austin owner.. decided I'd be better off grabbing Ben off the P.Manning owner by sending him Charles.

He looks awful, but keep in mind he doesnt get any snaps with the 1's and he is playing against a pretty tough NYG DST.

I like the attention that Witten has gotten tonight. Might help for me to sell him or reconsider holding on to him... we'll see.

Kitna has proven he can put up numbers, but, I'm very skeptical right now as to the continued value of any Cowboy receiver.. hope this really boosts Witten, though.

he acutally looked much better after the first few drives.........dont know who's on the waiver wire, but may be worth a flyer.......maybe i'm just a delusional austin owner..........but i have fitz and kitna showed more than hall or derek anderson have all year

It's not easy for a backup QB to suddenly come into the game and produce. They do not get practice reps with the first team offense. If Kitna can command this offense he will have some weapons at his disposal. But we're talking about John Kitna here.

Looked decent in the second half. Without the bad coaching and play calling, may have got them into a spot to win this game or at least make it interesting.

He is a really up and down player from what I remember. Hopefully the game plan will be really dialed back now without Romo. Wouldnt be surprised to see Austin's numbers fall and Witten's go up. Kitna likes to dump off.

Already put the claim in. I have the worst team record wise so I get a slightly used, High Mileage Kitna. Enough to save the season? Hell no. I'm just being a sport and putting together a semi-competant lineup at this point.

Im considering Kitna just because of the weapons he will have. As a Romo owner I do have McNabb and Stafford as my reserves but in a case where you are trying to replace #1 QB production it might take a three QB rotation playing matchups. Kitna might get inserted in the right match up but there may be better options. Fitzpatrick? Tjax? Anderson? who knows.

Has the jags next week. Im grabbing him and starting him in at least one league. He's performed well in the past in the right circumstances. He has weapons. Has been in the offense a few years and will prepare for the games from here on out. 6-10 week starter could be huge down the stretch if they can string together a few wins.

The guy put up decent numbers in Cincy and Detroit as a starter. If he has decent line play, the WR talent is there for sure to do the same in DAL.

This will be the best set of wrs he has ever had to throw too. I look for Kitna to put up good fantasy #s yes he will throw some picks but he will be a solid fantasy QB down the stretch.

The truth is you're probably in trouble if Kitna is a guy you need to put in your lineup. But in a league where Colt McCoy can step in and hold his own, Todd Bouman can have a relevant game, and Ryan Fitzpatrick can put up fantasy caliber numbers nearly every week...any starting QB with weapons is worth a look.

Agree, but there are worse options out there in larger leagues. I would actually imagine that Kitna is a decent start in a mandatroy 2QB league.

I am happy to see so many people down on Kitna. I will pick him up and expect his fantasy value to be as good or better than Romo's was this year.

I am concerned they will turn to McGee sometime this season.

you can't be serious! - he should do alright but won't come close to the production that Romo would have!

Sadly, bidding way more than I should be in my FAAB 12 team start 2 QB league. Matt Ryan is on bye, and Josh Freeman starting next to Tim Tebow isn't the best roster haha.

I'm not watching the game, just seeing the #'s but is this debacle Kitna's fault? His completion % is like 70% and is averaging 11+ yards per completion. Doesn't seem like the accuracy numbers are that bad, but then again I'm not watching the game... Anyone watching the game can tell if this is all on Kitna?

This debacle is not on Kitna, IMO.

I'd say 2 of the INT's were balls that his WR's should have caught. The 3rd INT would have been a tough catch for his WR. The 4th INT was on Kitna.

In the 4th quarter, Kitna tossed a nice pass toward Witten, who wasn't paying attention and had the ball bounce off of the star on his helmet.

Completely agree. Kitna did his job today. His WR's let him down time and time again.

Sports Guy with a funny take on Kitna today:

Unrelated Kitna note: If he throws for 2,143 yards over these last nine games -- not inconceivable considering Dallas might be playing from behind every week -- he would crash the 30,000 Club for career passing yards and taint that club irrevocably. All 33 members of the 30,000 Club have won a playoff game and/or made an All-Pro team -- even Jim Everett, currently the worst 30,000 Club quarterback and someone whose career would have been utterly forgettable if not for his feud with Jim Rome. If Kitna sneaks in, we'll be forced to keep changing the club's name until he retires. If he gets to 30,000 yards, I vote we change it to the 31,000 Club. If he makes it to 31,000 someday, let's change it to the 32,000 Club. And so on. It's the only way to handle it.
