Percy Harvin's ankle injury may be serious (1 Viewer)

According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Percy Harvin's left ankle injury appears to be "serious."

The Pio Press passes along that Harvin was "limping severely" in the locker room after the game. "It's hurting pretty bad and it probably was adrenaline that got me through," Harvin told reporters. "I couldn't do much but I was able to fight through it. Go and see the trainers Monday and we'll know then." Harvin is almost certain to miss practice time this week. Oct. 31 - 11:02 pm et

Yea, he looked almost as good as Pierre Thomas did when he continued to play through his "sprained" ankle Week 3. Five weeks later.... he's in a boot and on crutches still. Just sayin.

. "It's hurting pretty bad and it probably was adrenaline that got me through,"
Probably more than adrenaline. footballsavvy is right, the fact that he was able to come back and play doesn't tell us anything about whether he will miss significant time.

If you've ever been injured during a game of some sort you'd know it's possible to finish the game alright and then feel terrible afterwards from the swelling and stiffness. Guess we'll find out in a few days what the deal is.

I think the difference between Harvin and Thomas is that Harvin got hurt in the first quarter and played well through it...Thomas got hurt near the very end of the game.

I would be surprised if this is serious.

Percy Harvin probably made his injury that much worse by playing the whole game on it. I play through injury before, you might be able to play through it after you shoot up but afterwards you are in a much worst position if it's serious. Gamble by trainers was an epic fail!

He didn't go to the locker-room after injuring himself...so it didn't appear he took any injection.

I guess we will know more today.

Saying epic fail before we even know if he has an injury is an epic fail.

Ugh, this sucks if it lingers and keeps him out. He's been money for me since Moss arrived. Hope he doesn't miss any time.

The latest from Childress is that he is sore and getting treatment per Judd Zulgad's tweet...

Childress said Percy Harvin (ankle) is sore and getting treatment. No specific update on the extent of the injury.

Whatever. He knows what he's talking about. Need I remind you that he play through injury before?

Don't worry. He'll have the miracle cure by Sunday, I assure you.

Probably...I expect him to miss no time. Practice, perhaps...but not game time.

The good thing about it is that you could see his ankle sort-of roll in the replay and it didn't appear to turn *that* much. So hopefully its a stretch type of sprain as opposed to a tear type of sprain. It did not appear to turn like a high ankle sprain, which typically requires some sort of roll-up on the leg by another player.

This entire "might be serious" idea that's making its way around to all the fantasy sites appears to be based on the fact that a beat reporter or two saw him limping around the locker room. That doesn't mean it's not true, but we've got nothing of substance to show this is in any way similar to the Thomas situation.

He played the rest of the game and played well. I'm sure he'll get all kinds of treatment and rest throughout the week. The Vikings season is officially over if they lose on Sunday, so I'm sure they will be doing whatever they can to get him ready.

ETA: the much bigger problem is that the Vikings apparently waived Moss. Now we're back to no one creating that space for Harvin to work in unless Rice is able to return. Ugh.

 I can't believe they waived him. Even when he was just jogging out there it helped the offense by opening things up for Harvin...

Still laughing? Doubtful this week, even when he comes back you have AM(after moss) Welker -ish numbers to look forward to. I think PH is getting his headache back too. Just another joshua cribbs in the making. :lmao:

I dunno, not sounding great. GTD comingPercy Harvin-WR- Vikings Nov. 4 - 2:21 pm et

Percy Harvin (ankle) was held out of Thursday's practice, as expected.

Harvin was sporting a noticeable limp after taking part in the pre-practice walkthrough. Coach Brad Childress, who initially expected Harvin to play this week, is no longer as sure. Chilly noted that Harvin "hasn't made much progress," seemingly putting his status in doubt for Sunday. Check back Friday to see if Harvin can at least put in a limited practice.

I'm not risking it at this point. Already plugged another WR in. He might show up, but who knows if he plays the entire game and what his targets will look like. Unless the reports on Sunday give him a clean bill of health and a full snap count coming, I'll keep him on the bench.

Not doubting he is hurt somehwat but he did play with the injury all of last game and he didn't look slowed down at all.

Perhaps his recovery time has been slowed by Moss leaving. In other words he may be pouting.

This wouldn't surprise me. He was the most vocal against the decision to release Moss for understandable reasons. He also took a veiled shot at Chilly after the Patriots' game. He may not feel a lot of motivation right now to rush back from an injury.

Chilly has comepletely lost this team. It's up to a half-committed Brett Favre to rally this squad, and frankly I just don't think his heart is in it. Team should have fired Chilly this week, regardless of Moss drama.

Percy Harvin (ankle) back on the practice field but didn't exactly look like he's going full speed. Best guess: he's questionable. #Vikings

Percy Harvin returned to practice but to say he was limping badly at the start would be an understatement.

If you haven't already decided to sit Harvin this footage shot today at practice should provide all the evidence you need to do so:

I think Percy is a bit of a drama queen.

When he went off the field last week it looked like he might be out for the year. Then they taped it up and he looked fine the rest of the game.

It is not the first time this year that he has left the field with what looked like a major injury only not to miss a beat.

Yes he looks bad in that video but it also looks like he is trying to be careful with his ankle. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him play on Sunday and show no sign of injury at all.

They wouldn't be allowing him to practice if it was a major injury. Looks like a pain tolerance injury to me.

You think he could be faking? Again, he's limping way too much for me to start him but it does seem a little strange after how he was able to keep playing last week. He'll probably blow up for 150 and 2 TD's plus a 100 yard return TD on my bench!

Not faking but not pushing it, just going through the motions without really trying. Last week he went off the field like he was hurt significantly but then showed no visible sign of injury the rest of the game. After the game he was limping heavily again.I think when he feels any pain he likes to limp except when the game is on.

This is the first thing that I thought when I saw the video. I can't believe that the trainers would allow Harvin participate in a pass catching drill with that terrible limp. I can see him trying to run on the sideline but not attempt to catch passes. He was obviously playing possum to the camera - there is no other logical explanation.

You talkin' about practice?Seriously though, it doesn't look good, but adrenaline levels during a real game can help a lot. And I always wait until the last minute reports before deciding on sit/start. I'll probably play him unless the Vikings declare him out.

Harvin got into it with Chilly at practice today. I think you have to sit him this week even if he plays. He's angry, clearly not healthy and you have to wonder how hard he'll play for a coach he doesn't appear to care for anymore.

Chilly should have been fired this week. The rest of this season is going to be ugly in Minnesota.

Percy has skipping practice/camp down to an art form

three words would help cure that problem: ROOKIE SALARY SCALE

he wouldnt be having these migraines and bad ankles if he'd be paid like an NBA guy drafted at his spot cause their second contracts are bigger and third contracts are huge

NFL firsts get the big bonus before playing

you telling me he has bad ankles and wears lowtops with no tape? (or at least that's what it looked like) and unless that is the absolute FIRST time he ever rolled that ankle him limping around like that was downright girlish

Harvin looked like he could barely move on the video from practice. Maybe he's not toughing it out and it appears that's what Chilly thought and you do have to wonder how a guy can suffer a serious ankle injury and then go out and dominate for more than three quarters on it. So while I think Chilly is a horrible head coach he may have a point here.

From a fantasy perspective, I don't know how you can start Harvin with any confidence. Whether he's hurt bad or not, he clearly is making it out like he is so you have to wonder if he'll take himself out of the game at some point. On top of that, he's steamed about the Moss thing, took a shot at Chilly after the Patriots' game and now gets into it with him at practice. He's a terrific talent but he's sitting for me this week barring a significant change in news Sunday morning. I just think there are too many red flags with him this week despite the very easy matchup.

harvin is making 400k this yr. the 21st pick in 2009 nba draft darren collison is making 1.4m. 23rd pick omri casspi is making 1.2m. 22nd pick victor claver stayed in spain fwiw. those nba players are guaranteed for at least next season. harvin can be cut any time. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...NFL&id=5197

This ROOKIE has the attitude of Moss, by Moss "mentoring" him made it that much worse, very bad call on Chilly. Real NFL is not madden, Moss is poison to the team chemistry, we're already seeing side effects in less than 4 weeks. Percy Harvin is pouting because of what? that he sucks without Moss stretching the field and taking double coverage for him? He is selfish and not a team player. Maybe he just realized he doesn't have the skills to make a name for himself like Moss, therefore he can't sucker a team into a big contract, but he sure has that "I play if I want to" prima donna attitude like Moss, cry me a river PH! what a joke and give me a break. This ROOKIE kid is showing his true colors right now and is nothing more than a overrated Gator bait.

I believe this is the big chip in upcoming contract talks.

 There is insurmountable evidence that Childress is an idiot.

Harvin's pretty damn good player without Moss. Moss just makes him better just like he did Welker in NE, by opening up the short routes. While Moss may be a poison I don't think he was the poison that's affecting the Vikes team chemistry. The Vikes had horrible team chemistry before Moss even came to town. Chilly has little or no clout in the locker room and the players know this. The Moss episode was just icing on the cake.

And for all of Moss' faults he does have a pretty high football IQ. Harvin reportedly was learning a lot about route running and things of that nature from Moss, attributes that would only serve him and the team well going forward.

Again, though, my concern here is I wonder how hard is Harvin going to push himself this week even if he does play?

WTF are you talking about? He had migraines his entire life but he wouldn't have them if he was paid better. I can't believe that people on this board are calling him a "drama queen" and questioning his integrity. So far, he has shown me that he is extremely tough and nothing but a team player. He has taken some of the hardest hits and usually bounces right back up. In fact, without Harvin's big play ability the Vikings would probably be 0-7.

The lack of knowlege in these posts is simply embarrassing.
