by default, yes.Is SA getting the start this week?
Crayton is a better play, especially in PPRWho is more likely to get the most receiving yards/td's this weekend, SA or Crayton?
KhaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnI can't say the guy's name without copping a Russian accent and then adding, "S.S. Botany Bay!"
That's an american pronunciationFrom watching some college games, I seem to recall it being pronounced: Uh-Jerruh (like Jerry Jones)-Too-Too.
Internet search yields the following: Seyi Ajirotutu (SHAY-ee Ah-JEER-ah-two-two)That's an american pronunciationFrom watching some college games, I seem to recall it being pronounced: Uh-Jerruh (like Jerry Jones)-Too-Too.
That's correct. He pronounces it in an interview.Internet search yields the following: Seyi Ajirotutu (SHAY-ee Ah-JEER-ah-two-two)That's an american pronunciationFrom watching some college games, I seem to recall it being pronounced: Uh-Jerruh (like Jerry Jones)-Too-Too.
Ajirotutu is a Yoruba surname.Slevin's suggestion is about as close as the average American football announcer can be expected to get to an accurate pronunciation. Alex Trebek, or NPR, would pronounce it as such: ah-GEE-raw-too-too.That's an american pronunciationFrom watching some college games, I seem to recall it being pronounced: Uh-Jerruh (like Jerry Jones)-Too-Too.
It's like one of those rebus puzzles...Willie Mays Nickname + <picture of an eye> + Greek sandwich + Famous archbishopCan we get an official pronunciation ?Sey-Yee I-Yeero-Tutu![]()
Not a much bigger name, but it's between Ajirotutu and Donald Brown for my RB/RB flex spot in one league. Gore, R Moss, and Torain being on bye leaves me a little thin.Anyone considering starting him over some bigger names? I'm very close to putting him in over Ocho vs. Pit.
I don't know what caused him not to get drafted, but he definitely had a bit of a disappointing college career. I picked him up in a keeper college fantasy league a few years back, after reading some glowing reports about him. His production was pretty mediocre at Fresno though. A lot of it may have been that if you have Ryan Mathews, there is no need to throw the ball.FWIW, I read somewhere a while back..
Rivers is very fond of Ajirotutu, saying he does everything you ask him to. He's a mature football player and as a receiver, is an above average blocker, which is an asset to stay on the football field. It wasn't his speed that kept him from being drafted, rather his inability to showcase his talent at Fresno St. He made up for it by leading the Chargers in receiving during the preseason. He could take off, good luck.
It's mainly coming from RotoWorld unless FBG is pimping him too. I haven't seen much about him anywhere else. He still seems to be flying under the radar.I grabbed him off the WW and will likely start him over Harvin. His floor scares me but if he can hit on one big play downfield that might make it all worth it. I need the home run play and he seems like the best option to provide it considering how thin my league's WW is this week. He's on the WW in my 12man PPR, but I'd have to cut woodhead for him...a little thin at RB too, tough choice I'll keep you all postedBut seriously, this guy is getting praise from a lot of folks that matter, and now has the opportunity. Might be worth a flier this week with that weak Texans pass d.
I did hear on last week's telecast about his smarts, Rivers' praise, etc. But year, he has a low floor. It's mainly coming from RotoWorld unless FBG is pimping him too. I have found that these percentage numbers are often inaccurate, making me wonder if they're actually updated in "real time". Oftentimes I'll see a player who is a hot waiver wire pickup (i.e. Blount) and he'll only be listed as being owned by 5% of leagues. Then two weeks later the same player will be listed at 75%.My league is run on Sportsline and it shows him as being owned in 1% of the leagues there. I'm wondering if I'm the only one who owns him.![]()
You're probably right. I have a feeling, though, that I'm either going to look really smart or really dumb for this move. So he should either be started or benched. Good to know.Fantasy value: Flex or bench
If I were to pick him up, I would definitely either start or bench him, too. This is definitely great info. Really, though, I'm thinking that he might be a quality PPR start this week given that other WW options such as Hartline don't have the same upside as Ajirotutu has. I'm thinking that he might make my roster over Marion Barber who has nothing but name value left, it seems. So he should either be started or benched. Good to know.Fantasy value: Flex or bench![]()
Starting him as my WR2 over Ocho and Welker, with Santana on a bye. Rivers will have almost no one to throw to all game, especially if Gates doesn't suit up. If he DOES play, then I might drop Welker back in.valhallan said:Anyone considering starting him over some bigger names? I'm very close to putting him in over Ocho vs. Pit.
Yes.Both should be the #2 receiving option for their respective teams this weekend, but one of them plays with Phillip Rivers in a pass happy offense (against Houston mind you), while the other plays with Joe Flacco in a run-first attack. No guarantee he will outperform Mason, but the above says he should have a good chance.redraft....would you pick him up over the likes of a Derrick Mason?
•Ajirotutu has caught five passes for 74 yards this year, all of it coming in the last two weeks. Not saying he won't be fine but I'd be interested in seeing a poll on how many people start guys like this almost right off the practice squad to your lineup.

Let's be fair here, this isn't Danario Alexander going straight from the practice squad to the starting line-up this week. I think that one of the reasons that people are a little more excited over this guy than some other options out there is that they've definitely seen that he IS able to produce in a limited role, and in a week where the Chargers top receiver is out, people are curious as to whether or not he can step up and REALLY show us something. Not saying he won't be fine but I'd be interested in seeing a poll on how many people start guys like this almost right off the practice squad to your lineup.

Sproles. I could see him being huge this week. I also think this could be a game where the Chargers finally give Mathews 20-25 carries. Those are two of the things that scare me about this guy. He's not the No. 1 WR so he isn't locked into a big role even with all the WRs and possibly Gates being out. There's a lot of risk involved here in my opinion. Not really singling you out here, mean it more for the whole thread, BUT WHO ELSE BESIDES CRAYTON IS RIVERS GOING TO THROW IT TO VS. HOUSTON?
How is this game different from last week? Maybe minus Gates but then you have McMichael.A.
