Game Thread W10 - St.Louis V San Francisco (1 Viewer)

49ers have burned the Rams on two long passes. Troy Smith is 2-2 for 97 yards. You forget how strong his arm is. First play didn't result in a score as the drive stalled due to a strong Rams pass rush, but second drive took them to the 1-yard line. An easy punch-in for Gore.

Loser announcer crew: "Troy Smith got sick and lost 40 or 50 pounds or he would have been the starter at QB for the 2008 Ravens". I'm throwing the B S flag there.

He sat behind Kyle Boller and then was looking to start ahead of rookie Joe Flacco, but that opportunity was derailed when he came down with a rare throat infection that gave Flacco the opportunity that he took and parlayed into what appears to be the future of the franchise.

The Rams are mistaken if they don't believe Troy Smith can make plays.

Man, James Hall just made a fool by Gore.

Your "link" is a google search. Please link to the specific part where Smith would have beaten out Flacco and the part where a 190 lb. man lost 1/4 of his body weight?

It was actually around 20 pounds.

He had a good chance to beat out Flacco. It wasn't a sure thing.

Is that what you're calling BS about? :goodposting: ya didn't really care about the specifics of weight, just that he had a shot to start and got sick.

Did you miss the part about he lost FORTY TO FIFTY POUNDS?The obvious: which was it, 40 or FIFTY? FIFTY pounds? Obvious exaggeration.

 I def agree with you

Something I'd forgotten is that Kyle Boller started the first preseason game, then was injured in the second. After season-ending shoulder surgery they were left with Smith and Flacco.

I think there is already a conclusion to the argument but obviously the answer is a jackass... it was 20 lbs... but Troy Smith did have a decent chance to beat out Flacco and had a great deal of support from defensive teammates such as Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs.

In other news FarveCo's. head is still slowly imploding in on itself. As he proves once again why he is the worst poster ever.

I've only been watching this game here and there, but every time I tune in I see a big 49ers play called back.

49ers just had their 3rd TD taken away on a flag, also had an int taken away by penalty.

Well, in SF's defense, Gore had one long run and one long catch, and was 16 for 31 otherwise. Meanwhile, Smith has been gouging the Rams pass defense all afternoon long.

And by gouged, I mean ridiculous amounts of big plays being given up. By all rights, the 49ers should have two more td's.

So, if the Rams had let Brown try that 51-yarder earlier--which is in his range--instead of that stupid fake FG/pooch kick....they mightn't be in this situation.
