***Pre-Game Thread*** New York Jets at Indianapolis (1 Viewer)

I believe that Indy's offense will run roughshod over the Jets much as New England's did a few weeks ago. As a fish fan I am looking forward to it.

very disappointed that this match up ended up happening.

As a jets fan, i fully expect manning to carve up the jets D. Our 3rd and 4th corners cant cover anyone and he will exploit that all day long. Indy could win this game without Cromartie or Revis seeing a ball come there way all night.

I realize he's missing weapons, but it doesn't matter.

if you're afraid to play the best you don't belong in the playoffs.I think indy's one of the toughest teams in here and I hope the pats see them at some point.

Idiots on the Jets board saying the same thing."Recognizing a terrible matchup" is not the same as "being scared of playing the best"The Jets would have rolled KC, but Manning will carve the Jets to pieces. I want to play the easiest games possible, period. This is not that.

as a jets fan you should want to settle up last year's slap down.

as a pats fan, I hope we can avenge against balt.

edit: if you're just looking for a bunch of these week 17 charity games against indy then you really don't belong.

slap down? The Jets were up 17 points before the wheels fell off (partially due to some injuries in the defensive backfield). The Jets haven't been to a super bowl in my lifetime. I don't care if they beat the London Silly Nannies to get there.

I can't wait to see what the Big Mouth Rex has to say this week.

As a Colts fan, happy with the draw.

Now they have to deliver on the field.

crap this is one game i wont watch because i hate both teams . ugh i was looking forward to a sat night playoff . and also its inside a stupid dome . no snow game . dang any other game id be excited to watch playoff sat night . oh well .

Dangerous spot here for Indy I think. 40 carries for LT/Greene and they will have to prove they can stop the run.

No Clark and Collie

Add LT and Holmes

This one is going to be close.

they did okay against a better runner (CJ) today . . .
And they still gave up over 100+ yards in 11 of 16 games this season. Also, they played 3 playoff teams this year where they averaged somewhere around 145 allowed on the ground.

No, as a Jets fan, you want to see the Jets win, this isn't some macho contest. Just like last year I'm sure the Colts were turning cartwheels when the Jets beat the Chargers, because the Colts always struggle against the Chargers. Saying that the Jets would probably have fared better against the Chiefs is just common sense.

of course, but if you thought said 24 hours ago that they would hold CJ down so low you would have gotten great odds . . . the last game is most encouraging for Colts fans when CJ is much more dynamic that the Jets' runners - especially LT who has worn down as the year has gone on - and remember they did well in the superbowl winning year against the likes of Priest Holmes in a playoff game . . . time will tell . . .

I will help you Pats-fan-that-is-dazed-and-confused-of-who-to-cheer-for. As a Pats fan, you hate the Jets. While you hate the Colts too, you hate nothing more than white and green. So, you are a Peyton Manning fan for ~4 hours this Saturday. :goodposting:

Good to see the Pats and Dolphins hacks making early debuts here.

Obviously as a Jets fan i'd have liked their chances a lot better against the Chiefs. That said, the Jet haters predicting a slaughter might be in for a letdown. If Collie and Clark were healthy and playing i'd be more inclined to agree, but the Jets give up yards and points to teams with good to great slot WRs and TEs. Tamme is going to have a good game, but unless you think White is going to carve up the Jets Defense AND the Colts are going to be able to stifle the Jets running game this will be a close game. Will the Jets win? I don't know, it's still tough to bet against Manning, but i'd be shocked if they got beat handily. It's time for Rex and the Jets to put up or shut up on their pre-season brash talking.

 This will not be a slaughter. This will actually be a really good game - scoring in the teens for both teams, with TO differential being the deciding factor.

:goodposting: This is the matchup Rex had in his head all off season. Signed Cromartie for this.Jets hung in there last year with less talent vs a better Indy team... I'm ready for some football.

seems there are just as many jets fans predicting a slaughter as 'jets haters'.that said, I do think they'll be tripped up on their superbowl run.psI've noted a couple instances of wishful jets fans longing for 'haters' of their team.are there really people that hate the jets --- or do people just find them obnoxious or pity them?

The Jets added Cromartie and Jason Taylor after getting carved up by Manning last year. They struggled when Greene went out with an injury against the Colts, and added LT with the hope of preserving Greene for the playoffs. The Colts are missing two of their best four weapons -- Collie and Clark had 11/158/2 against the Jets last year.

Cromartie on Garcon, Revis on Wayne. Will be very interesting to see what happens from there. I think the Colts, without Witten/Collie, are a pretty good matchup for the Jets. Also curious to see if the Jets try and revert to the ground and pound philosophy come playoff time with Greene and LT rested (both were inactive today). Throw in Holmes, and it's hard for me to not like the Jets chances a lot more this year than last year, and it's not like last year's game was a blowout.

If I were the Colts, I wouldn't throw the ball anywhere near Revis or Cromartie all game long. Hell, send the guys they are guarding on fly patterns every single play. The other Jets DB's have shown absolutely no ability to cover anybody when a decent QB is throwing the ball. The presence of Cromartie, the injuries to the Colts WR core and the better weapons for the Jets obviously help compared to last year (as does the health of Greene, whose injury really hurt the jets in the 2nd half last year) but the Jets are going to have a hell of a time getting any pressure on Manning. They haven't had a pass rush all year. Manning will kill the Jets if he has 5 or 6 seconds to get the ball to the guys that Wilson, Smith, Cole and/or Lowery are covering. When the Jets have a good match up, I've been honest about it (I was adamant that the Jets would beat Cincy last year. I thought it was pretty much a lock and said so here). But this Jets team is a bad match up for any team with Manning (or Brady) under center. When you have no elite pass rushers and poor DB's covering slot guys, guys like Manning and Brady will rip you apart. I don't think the Jets will be blown out (because I think they'll run the ball well) but I think Manning is going to complete A LOT of passes for a very high percentage. Unless the Jets force 2+ turnovers, i think they lose for sure.

This should be a good game.. I am not sold on Peyton this year for some reason, seems to be forcing alot. I think he gets picked off at least twice and Colts lose 20-17.

:lmao: For the Jets to win they're going to need to dominate TOP, get some pass pressure, and get lucky with a turnover or two. The Colts aren't a good matchup for the Jets, but if Cromartie can lock down Garcon (no guarantee, because Cro has been very streaky this year) the Jets should be able to at least contain Blair White and Tamme, and make this a competitive game.

The Jets played terribly against the Pats, (but then who doesn't?), great against Pittsburgh, mediocre against Chicago and Green Bay. Very inconsistent for a team with a winning record. But I have to take them here because Indianapolis is down to Peyton Manning and a bunch of nobodies, and while he's the best QB in the NFL (IMO) playing at home, it's not enough. Jets 20-13

Has Collie already been ruled out? I would think he plays in this game.

Collie is on IR therefore he's done for the year

Collie/Clark >>>>>>>>>>>>>> White/Tamme

The inexperience is going to kill these two guys, imo. Collie/Clark were HUGE in that playoff run last year.

This is the toughest game to call this weekend.

On one hand you have Peyton Manning on the other hand you have LT and Greene. Which will do better? Because the only chance NY has IMO is to keep Peyton off the field and run the ball all day and play great defense. That is it.

For the Colts they just need to put up 24 points and this game is all theirs.

I will call it:

Colts 27

Jets 17

Ultimately a key turnover will decide this game. And it will be Sanchez or Greene who will cough it up (or throw a pick) and let the Colts pull away.

The Jets put up 100+ yards rushing against two of the better rushing D's in the league over the past 3 weeks (Chicago and Pitt). They're going to use a fresh Shonn Greene and pound the ground game.

I think the Jets will win this. The Colts defense is more than beatable, and the Jets defense should be able to clamp down on the Colts receivers. If we assume that Revis takes Wayne out of much of the game, and Cromartie is on Garcon, who is gonna consistently make plays for the Colts in the passing game? Tamme could have a good day, as the Jets seem to struggles against tight ends, but Tamme alone can't do it.

The Colts defensively shut down the run game like they have for a month now, and make Sanchez try to beat them. Sanchez can't. Colts win 27-10

While Chris Johnson is far more dynamic than any Jets back...the combo of Green and LT behind that line with the weapons at WR far surpass what Tennessee can do offensively.

This game might end up being higher scoring than most expect with a special teams play being the difference.

I'm going to go ahead and predict that Rex Ryan doesn't shut up no matter what.

I agree that the Jets would have a better matchup playing the Chiefs, but I don't think a Colts victory is automatic. I can see a similar game to the Colts-Titans game yesterday, the game goes back and forth and it's close late and one team scores late to win. I think if the total score is less than 44 points the Jets have a good chance to win. I think the first team to score 24 points wins.

Whos the better play? LT or Green for the playoffs?
gotta think its GreeneHe was having a great game against Indy last year until he got hurt. It was pretty much the turning point of the game.If he doesn't fumble, i think he'll have a great game on saturday.

Hating both teams equally, I'll predict:

With Sanchez:

Colts 31

Jets 3

With Sanchez / Brunell

Colts 31

Jets 10

The Colts gave up 2,000+ yards rushing this year, putting them in the bottom 10 of the league.

The Jets accumulated 2,300+ yards rushing this year, putting them in the top 5 of the league.

The way to beat the Colts is time of possession. Something that the Jets excel at.

For some reason, I like the matchup. It takes the ball out of Sanchez's hand and puts it where the strength of the Jets lies.

10 carries for 41 yards is your definition of a great game?
That's 4.1 YPC and considering that he got HURT then yes he was having a great game.
