***Pre-Game Thread*** Green Bay at Philadelphia (1 Viewer)

Bet the over. Vick is gonna have to play like he did in the 4th quarter against the Giants. I agree with previous poster that Rodgers will torch this secondary.

Should be a good one!

 Rogers is going to shred that defense into oblivion and the Packers look great on defense. Even though they can't run the ball I think they're going to the superbowl. A lot of talk about Ryan, Brees and Vick right now, but I'd take Rogers over all of them.

why did Bob Costas just say that there is talk Vick could be benched next week?
Cause Sal Paolantonio is a hack of a media guy.IF and I mean IF Reid comes out and sticks to a consistent run to offset the barrage of hits Vick takes from the D teeing off on him, then this will be a good game.

I really like the Packers in this one seems like defenses have finally started to figure out Vick with that being said the Packers better not miss tackles on McCoy, DeSean or Maclin

Nobody believing in their own team here. Pretty tight crowd.

I'll say it, I think the Pack wins in a close one. Capers is currently working on a plan to try and confuse the hell out of Vick.

Packers win by 10. The vikings made the blue print on how to beat the Eagles and Vick, and Green Bay will follow it to a T

This is shaping up like the first Minnesota-Green Bay thread where all the fans were in doomsday mode. I have the same thought though.

Vick rushes for about 100 yards. Eagles win 31-24

I see a game that is very close to the Cardinal/Packer game from last year (minus some points) which comes down to the wire. Unfortuantly, I see Akers hitting one to win the game. 37-35 Eagles.

VERY nervous about this game. I'll be there with giddy anticipation but am going to go in with no expectations. I wouldn't be shocked if Green Bay handles us on both sides of the ball, but I certainly think we've got a decent enough chance to win the game if we play up to our potential offensively.

I think they believe but as you said they are being tight. As a non-fan of either team I think Rodgers puts up big numbers to have GB advance.

I think Rodgers has a field day against the Eagles secondary, but Vick's combination of passing/rushing will be too much for the Pack's defense to handle.....

Packers defense is demonstrably better than the Eagles right now, and Vick has been having trouble recognizing blitzes particularly with the O-line giving up so much pressure up the middle. Out of the three possible opponents we could've faced heading into today, the Pack were the one I was least hoping for.

I think the Packers will win if Charles Woodson and Scott Shields have good games in the secondary. Woodson is going to be used to harrass Vick and Shields is going to have to play well to cover for that. BJ Raji has come on lately while Matthews appears to have leveled off.

Eagles are going into the playoffs on a two game losing streak.. I would like to know the record of teams that have done that. I imagine its not good.

Packers win.

jeez what a bunch of overreactors. the eagles have lost two straight? who played sunday? vick? no. jackson? no. mccoy? no? the game before against the vikings? total trap game then add in the factor of it being a tuesday night game and entirely throwing off the schedule. look, i'm not making excuses. they didn't play as well as the vikings, but i'm not going to just give up now because of that.

i think the eagles figure out a way to win this game. 31-23.

The Saints went into the playoffs on a three-game losing streak last year. How did that turn out?
wow man, one team.. The Colts I believe were on a losing streak when the Steelers beat them in 06.
Want more than one? Okay, the Colts went into the playoffs on a two-game losing streak last year. And made it to the Super Bowl. Basically, I wouldn't read too much into the Eagles two-game losing streak. Tonight's loss was a meaningless game in which all of their best players didn't play, and having a week off will allow Vick to get healthy. I think both teams score a lot, but the Eagles win 27-24.

Last week was a meaningless game? Minny owned the Eagles, like another poster said, I don't care if your playing high school kids, doing into the playoffs on a losing streak is never good. The year the Steelers beat the Colts in the playoffs, didn't Peyton Manning mention how they lost momentum cause they lost there last few meaningless games and the starters didn't play at all?

I think this promises to be the best game of wildcard week. Both teams can move the ball through the air, so there's going to be lots of points scored. I don't trust Vick in the playoffs; I'll go with the Pack in an upset. 27-23

I never said last week was a meaningless game, so not sure why you are asking that. And I don't recall Manning saying that. Not saying he didn't say it, but I don't remember. The '97 Broncos lost two of their last three regular season games before winning the Super Bowl.

The '98 Broncos lost two of their last three regular season games before winning the Super Bowl.

The '99 Rams lost their last game of the regular season before winning the Super Bowl.

The '94 49ers lost their game of the regular season before winning the Super Bowl.

The '06 Colts lost three of their last five regular season games before winning the Super Bowl.

I already mentioned last year's Colts and Saints.

Shall I go on?

That I don't know, but I did hear an interesting stat on a post-game show:Playoff teams that have lost their final regular season game at home are 15-3 in their first playoff game at home. In any case, it's not a normal "losing streak" because the Eagles played their backups vs. the Cowboys starters. If the Eagles had played their starters, they would have won easily.

Is Vick even going to be 100%? He's got a thigh bruise I think.

I think the Packers Defense will put heavy pressure on Vick and the O-Line of the Eagles isn't good enough. It will take a spectacular effort from Vick for the Eagles to win I think and they need to use McCoy.

Love the Packer D...but Vick could easily take this one over and make it a shootout.

Olines will both have to step up to keep their QB upright.

Hope the Pack can pull this one out.

No one is 100% at this stage of the season. I don't know how healthy Vick will be, but I am confident he will start the game much healthier than he was vs. MIN.As for how things go ultimately, this is either a blowout in the Packers' favor or one of those games where both offenses go nuts and whoever has the ball last wins.

I will feel much better about the game if I hear that Cullen Jenkins and frank Zombo are available. I do note that in a first for the Packers all year they did not have a significant injury during the game, that is positive. Still, I would love to see them have enough defensive linemen healthy to have an actual rotation up front, somethig they have not had the entire year.

Having Cullen would be huge.

Both of these teams are dangerous. GB defensive speed on the edges really impressed me yesterday. Matthews and Hawk had a motor on them and really impacted the game. This one is going to come down to play calling as I think GB will move the ball at will on that Eagles secondary. If Reid can mix it up and call those McCoy screens at the right time, I think they can put Vick in positions to win it with his legs.

It's definitely going to be a McCoy/Vick day if they want to win. Gotta think they take Maclin and Jackson out deep.

The blue print is simple but it's easier said than done when its all on the line in the post-season. If you rush four and don't bring much else, Vick will find a way to hit the big play with his arm or his legs. If you bring that guy off the edge and disrupt him he WILL throw picks. Does GB have enough secondary strength to send Woodson after Vick? The Bears WR corps are a much different animal than that of the Eagles.

Tramon Williams was a legitimate Pro Bowl snub. Nick Collins is pro bowl caliber. Shields has been the best nickel corner the Packers have had in quite a while. So they are good but not spectacular in the secondary. Cullen Jenkins is going to be a big factor if he's able to play. He's very good rushing the passer. I also think BJ Raji shows up in this game. What I worry about is Vick and McCoy busting off yards in 30 yard chunks. I think they do that at least a few times. As for Green Bay, it is going to depend on Rodgers. His pocket presence looked great against a Bears D that was crashing in around him. In one play in particular a defender had the back of his jersey and he calmly threw a strike with confidence. I just think the Eagles will find a way to make an explosive play that breaks Green Bay's back. I've seen it too many times.

I somehow get the feeling that Mike Vick is not all that enthused about facing the Packers defense and the ability to get to the QB lately. I think they'll have a good game plan to get after Vick and limit his production. He'll still have a good game but it won't be one of his superhuman feats that he's displayed against some other teams. As Vick goes, so go the Eagles. Vick is talented and exciting to watch and the NFL as a whole benefits from him playing. The matchup between the Eagles and Packers will be a thrill ride of ups and downs and the best quarterback will win the game. Rodgers,IMO, is the better QB.

Eagles- 27 points

Packers- 31 points

The Packers, being the #6 seed,I feel have an excellant chance to make it to the NFC title game if they can pass this first difficult hurdle and get to Vick like they did against Cutler. Michael Vick, be afraid, be VERY afraid.

I am not saying the same thing is gonna happen this year, but remember last year how great the Packers defense was talked about being going into the playoffs? And then Kurt Warner and the Cardinals tore that defense to absolute shreds in the first round. Again, not saying it will happen again, but just something to keep in mind.

Because I'm a huge homer I am taking the Eagles. But in all honesty Packers scare me, there defense is very underated I think. Clay Matthews is a beast and A.J. Hawk has been playing better. Vick needs to recognize where the blitz is coming from and either call an audible or tell McCoy and Schmitt to block someone! He starts taking shots the Eagles are in trouble.

Eagles 34

Packers: 30

I still have nightmares about Vick coming into Lambeau and owning the Pack a few years back. Pair that with further visions of 4th and 26, and I'm not really excited to face a Vick-Eagles combo.
