krs, could you maybe link each user in your initial draft thread post so it'll be easier to PM them? I know it's a pain but it'll save from having to hunt down each drafter.

I will certainly give it a try. Never tried to do it before so it may take some time before I figure it out. Not the most computer savvy.

I use a phone (not a great one) to occasionally check in, and would appreciate it if the draft thread could be cleaned up. Please delete all your non essential posts in the draft thread and keep the comments in this thread. TIA

My pick. I was looking at ADP, JOhnson or Rice who had at least 1 available or more in each of the other drafts. I worry about one year wonders like Foster, think Charles is overrated, McCoy is okay but not an elite talent. MJD would have been okay but I worry about his team. So I went the safe route and go early on Andre. There was a reason I would have rather picked later. Oh well. It is done and I can be criticized for going the earliest on a player by far. Even though if I did this in draft 1, I think you would have seen a domino effect.

I don't fault your reasoning, just assumed everyone would go RB early and AJ would fall to me. He's easily the top WR on my board and you should get decent RBs later. McCoy IMO has as good a chance as anyone to be the top RB this year. Risk is there but I'll take it at the 9.

Was hoping that one of the big 4 TEs or Fitz/Hillis would be there at 2.11. I think one of them fell to the 3rd rd in every other league. Selected Manning based on lack of better options. Any WR/RB I was looking at there would either be available at my next pick or there will be equivalent choices available in round 3. Kind of bummed about that pick as I wanted to try a different strategy.

I gave serious thought to Peyton but decided on Fitz just because I lost in the end last year in one of the survivor leagues largely because my WRs sucked. Also considered Finley but opted to go with less risk this round - which is why Peyton was a strong consideration.

Yeah it was Brees or move elsewhere at that spot ... elsewhere being Forte, who I like to continue to play well in Martz offense.

I don't know that I'd call it a steal when they were all bunched together like that but I see what you are getting at and it's why I hated taking Rivers. Basically I put Vick on his own planet, followed by Rodgers. IMO those two exist in a different zone than everyone else. After that I find myself basically splitting hairs between Rivers, Brees, Manning and another QB I won't mention since he's not been picked. I was actually comforted by the QB run after Rivers as to me it mitigated the value of a team getting a QB I rate similar to Rivers at a much lower spot. Except of course for the team that takes the QB I'm not mentioning. All in all not a fan of taking Rivers or any of the above mentioned QB's in the second round. Had hoped Fitz or Nicks would make it to me in the second but had a hard time believing it would happen but allowed myself to get excited when Fitz was 2 spots away. Biggest bummer was I had Finley as my backup plan and sort of assumed I could get him so it hurt to see him go right after Fitz and both right before me. I have a plan for what I'm going to do in the third which left me without what I viewed as a better alternative than grabbing Rivers.

Unfortunately we were thinking along the same lines. I too was hoping for Fitz/Finley. Needed Turner/Forte to go and the QB run to start earlier for that to happen. Glad you took Rivers because I took him at 2.16 in WSL1 and wanted to diversify. I think we'll have comparable WR/RB talent available to draft in rd 3.

Thanks for doing that Labor of Love. I've done it and found that cut and paste works dandy. If the spirit moves you please consider adding player position information (RB-X, etc.). It makes for a good comparision with the other Leagues as "most" Leagues laydown that information. I've alwasy been amazed that there's no guide book as to how to runs these things (as evidenced by the start up round #1 here). It's not the first time that type fiasco has occurred but it should be the last. An owner's manual for those running these deals would avoid the same situation(s) occuring over and over again with an expectaition for a different outcome. It would also allow for standard reporting as a standard format would be spelled out. Just a suggestion as I'd be willing to assist in developing same. :tumbleweed: Back to the draft: 2.10 MenoBrown - Phillip Rivers QB SDC 2.11 BassNBrew - Peyton Manning QB IND 2.12 Old Milwaukee - Tom Brady QB NE 2.13 Crippler - Drew Brees QB NO That pretty much does it for the decision to forgo a top QB early. Same for TE's as the top four are off the board way early. Is there a trend developing here?

And way early on another guy again. Why I hated the top of the order. I would have been better off in the middle for what I have done. But I see dropoffs big time at each position. QB was the top 5(I dont include Vick. I would not touch him) and than a drop fantasy wise(despite what one guy says and I know who he is after). So I got one of the big ones WR was the same for me with a couple of guys really standing out. Would have like Calvin almost as much. TE was the big 5 and than I see a drop off again. The next guy in the other drafts I would not touch and the others are not studs. So on to Davis way earlier than any other draft again. Even though I really wanted Finley also.

Well I miscalculated again. Wanted VJax at 3.5 and he vanished. Shifted gears and grabbed Williams before the back half of the serpent started goobling up RBs.

I don't know if you're referring to me but there isn'tmuch of a drop from Brees/Peyton/Brady to Romo. My opinion of course, but Romo could easily be on top of that tier but will probably stay below the Rodgers/Vick tier if everyone is healthy.

I might kick myself for not taking Welker if one of the next two QBs fall and a WR I like doesn't, but them's the breaks.

Funny how that works. With Ben gone now, I'm happier with the selection. There are a couple QBs left I like enough if forced to take one, but IMO Ben is the true end of this tier.

I thought maybe he was referring to me when I posted earlier about the QB run and mentioned one guy who I put in the same class as that group but would not mention him since he had not been picked. That player is Romo. After Vick and Rodgers I can see me flip flopping my rankings between Rivers, Peyton, Brees, Romo, and Brady but right now the way I just listed them is the order I have them with there being not much of a difference between the any of them.

So I'd have to feel that Romo is good value and me leading the run by taking Rivers is not ideal for me but I had really had little choice. At the time I picked Rivers I had a few WR's ranked similar the way I have the QB's ranked similar and two of those guys were left when I picked in the third. My highest rated RB left when I picked Rivers was Best who made it back to me in the third and who I took. So I knew I was going to get a player in the third I valued highly.

I guess if I was looking at it from a value based drafting style the one player left when I took Rivers who I had head and shoulders rated above the next guy at his position was Vernon Davis and it's possible that's the way I should have gone.

QB: Romo RB: McCoy WR: Fitzgerald, Maclin So far I'm fairly happy. My plan was to start off by taking guys whose floor is something I can deal with and are relatively safe picks. Granted, McCoy doesn't have the history to indicate safety but I see little reason to think he won't perform in 2011. I probably could have gone with Mendenhall but otherwise I didn't see a RB I think can produce at the top and was safe. MJD is awesome but that injury is a concern, Turner and Forte IMO are solid, safe plays but lack as much upside potential. So the 1st pick was a balance between safety and reward. I think we saw Fitzgerald's floor last year and he was still pretty darn good. You won't get much safer with elite potential in the mid-2nd. Also considered Finley, the QBs, and Turner but didn't want to start RB-RB and as mentioned, I see tier 2 at QB as pretty wide. Round 3, grabbed the QB I like assuming he's healthy. Great QB and 3 elite receivers. Barring injury, plays well in the "Safety First" concept. Round 4, Maclin was just too good a value to resist. I don't necessarily like a RB/WR combo among my top 4 players but will take it here. As long as Philly has an early bye that doesn't conflict with my other RBs and WRs, I'll be fine. I won't mention who else I considered as they haven't been taken. (Holmes was, but there are others who may fall to my 5th)

I'd gladly trade my entire team for yours straight up. Manning maybe a hair better than Romo. McCoy v. Foster is a coin flip Fitz >>> DWill Maclin >> Garcon I think you basically ended up with 2 1st round picks, one late 2nd round, and one early 3rd round.

To this point. I seem to be going real early on alot of guys QB: Brees, Flacco RB: Not WR: Andre Johnson, Micheal Crabtree TE: Vernon Davis Well this looks not typical of any team drafting from the 4 spot. I was 5 to 6 picks early on Andre but hated all the RB's. I was the earliest on Davis and Crabtree. But I think QB is the key to success in this thing. Scoring 35 pts per week from the position is good and there is 10 guys out there I want nothing to do with right now. That leaves 22 for 16 teams. Someone will suffer by this. RB: I know. The worst in the league again. But I have done fairly well with this approach. See even more RBBC this year and will get some later. WR: Solid start in the top 2 but dont like the SF thing. No more SF players for me in the end TE: Solid top 5 guy and I say a big dropoff from him So I am liking it. See what the rest of the draft brings

Thanks. Made up for it by taking a 6th rounder in the 5th but he's a player I wanted and I don't know that he'd have made it back to me. Maybe I'm overreacting and taking a risk here but I think Pettigrew should be one of the top TEs this year and I doubt he'd fall out of the top 10 (barring injury). Seems weird to call a 3rd year TE with one season over 350 yards, a "safe play" but Pettigrew's game is so good all-around that he's going to be involved a lot and he'll be the 2nd receiving option in Detroit.

I had Pettigrew typed out twice before taking Lewis. There are a lot of good TE options this year.

Very true. Probably the year to wait on TE.

If the TEs are scoring more points they should be taken sooner.
