End May/Early June Minor League Callups (1 Viewer)

What minor leaguers do you have targeted, or maybe rostered already, due to major league teams not wanting the arbitration clock to start? Or, maybe just minor leaguers off to a hot start where there is a hole this player could fill at the major league level. Whatever the reason.

I think it's best to discuss this topic for redraft leagues only.

I'll start the list:

Lonnie Chisenhall 3B CLE - I'm thinking the Tribe's hot start makes this happen sooner (June) rather than later (Sept). Maybe this changes with a horrid 6 week stretch by the Tribe, but this is something to keep a close eye on.

Jennings, OF, Tampa

Brett Jackson, OF Cubs

Mike Moustakas, 3B Royals

Montero, C, NYY

Lawrie, 3B, TOR

Have both of those guys rostered in a keeper league.

I wish on Jackson. The Cubs haven't even found the time for Colvin. There is no way Jackson gets the call barring injuries. Unless Colvin is the full time 1B next year, they still have Soriano and Byrd to pay in the outfield. In 2013, Jackson will be in the outfield for sure but something has to give for him to be a full time player prior to that.

Along with Moustakas, a whole host of Royals including Eric Hosmer at 1B and Mike Montgomery at SP could see the majors this summer. Mike Trout is only 19 but is picking up where he left off last year raking in AA with a great eye. If Bourjos struggles enough offensively later this summer, Trout could see some time with the Angels.

Julio Teheran, SP, Braves

Domonic Brown, OF, Phillies - looks like he will be in AAA when he comes back from injury and in line for a later call up

Dellin Betances, SP, Yankees

Wilin Rosario, C, Rockies

Jackson is a much better prospect than Colvin. He's not a sure thing to be called up but Byrd, Soriano and F|_|kudome are all in their early-mid 30s w/ injury potential and w/out upside.

Agree completely. Jackson almost doesn't have a flaw. He is solid in every area of the game although it stops at solid outside of his plus OBP potential. Colvin's only plus is power but he has significant weaknesses at the plate that will hold him back. Also, Jackson can be a solid center fielder. If an injury occurs to Byrd, Jackson should be the CF replacement day one. But I am afraid Kosuke/Johnson will play center giving Colvin everyday at bats. I think at least two of the four have to get hurt to push the Cubs into promoting Jackson before the end of season expansion.I hope I am wrong though.

As my team looks more and more like a pretender every day, I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on some combo of Trout, Jackson, or Lawrie soon.

Ackley, Harper, Jennings, Chisenwall, and Brown are all rostered.

Anybody think it's worth cutting Belt loose for one Lawrie or one of those guys?

Just not seeing how Belt makes it back anytime soon.

I have a feeling Hosmer may not get a call until Sept., if at all, but I really don't want to cut him loose until Kila starts hitting.

How many players can you have on a roster? Seems like you have alot of room to stash. In my daily redraft league that has 25-man rosters, I'm finding some good value with my bench hitters on days when my regulars are sitting or the team is off.By starting this thread, I was hoping to find one or two guys that should be rostered head and shoulders above the rest...but it seems like these guys are all pretty even. At least not much has stood out to me here. Being in a keeper, and just by following baseball, I know all the names and whos a good prospect, but not always the sure fire June guys who likely get regular PT.

35-man rosters. 10-team league. 11-player keeper.Started the season with 1 minor league guy (Moustakas) and will gradually go up to 4 or 5 roster spots until I see a reason to believe I have any shot to compete this season.Not to mention a hot prospect that gets the call and starts hitting makes for a very valuable trade piece in this league. The top prospects in this league are generally all snapped up by mid-May, if there's any reason to believe they could be called up before September. If nothing else, my major league guys stink, so owning good minor leaguers means I have some positive box scores to check each day.

How can this thread be around without mentioning Sands? RUN to the WW if he is somehow available.

because the first day of summer is June 21st

Lots of good names listed here (and a few who likely won't be up at all this year at least not before September)

I think Summer needs to be changed or defined because the date for players to be called up without affecting their service time is late May....so let's say June (but before the 21st)

Top of the list of those mentioned is probably Brett Lawrie - he is doing very well at AAA Las Vegas and with Bautista moved to the outfield has only Encarnacion ahead of him but I think the Blue Jays want to get him some experience in the majors this year and expect him to be called up before Moustakas who might be the next one.

Agree on grabbing Sands regardless of whether keeper or redraft - kid can hit (35 home runs at A and AA last year) AND help some with stolen bases (had 18 last year in the minors). They called him up because of the huge production hole in LF but I expect he will play some 1B as well.

Rays prospect Desmond Jennings has 12 hits in his first 40 at-bats of the season (.300) for Triple-A Durham. He has homered twice and driven in five runs while scoring eight. He has also stolen two bases.

I'm not sure what else there is for this kid to accomplish is triple A, other than not starting his MLB service time. I'm hoping he comes up in June, the play of Sam Fuld wouldn't block him, would it?
