I'm starting to think that Ryan W is the player that is being overdrafted...especially with the little blurb about Beanie on rotoworld today

This blurb?:

Beanie Wells: Beanie Wells looks in good shape in Arizona

Beanie Wells: Beanie Wells looks in good shape in Arizona

Beanie Wells is participating in Cardinals player-organized workouts, and reportedly looks as if "he doesn't have an ounce of body fat on him."

Wells' participation indicates he's over last year's knee injury, and his fitness bodes well for his offseason commitment level. The Cards should hope the draft selection of Ryan Williams lights a fire in Wells as Jonathan Stewart did for DeAngelo Williams in Carolina and Ben Tate did for Arian Foster in Houston. We'd still bet on Wells beginning the season as Arizona's starter. May. 19 - 10:35 am et
You could be right. Wells was hurt for various amounts of time over his first two seasons, so if he is healthy for the 2011 season (*knocks on wood*), then his talent and familiarity in the offense could certainly see him with the largest share of the carries. Add in Hightower, and it becomes a full blown RBBC situation.

If Ryan Williams is back to the level he was in 2009, it will make things very interesting.

Add in the uncertainty of the Cardinals QB situation, and you have significant risk with Williams.

I think people drafting Ryan Williams with the idea of IMMEDIATE payoff (E.g., he simply becomes the man in AZ right this year) will be one of the more disappointed owners in FF leagues this year.

I'm NOT a Beanie Wells fan, but I am enough of a Cardinals fan to have noticed that Wells was hurt all year last year and,to be honest, I'm not sure a well known back who is generally regarded as a goof FF back could ahve done a lot on that team last year. The Cardinals were an absolute mess last year and we all know that QB situaiton is getting fixed before this season.

Going back to when the Cards weren't QB-less and Wells was the featured back, in 2009, he was a good (not great) FF RB. He was rushing for 4+ ypc, was putting up about 16-22 points a game in my leagues, and was a good bet for a TD more weeks than not.

I really think Beanie Wells may be one of the best "buys" going right now as he has been largely written off by A LOT of people. I'm not saying it is the same situation in ANY way, but sometimes, you have to go past what every columnist is posting and regurgitating and simply remember what you saw when things were normal. That's how A LOT of people sniffed out Arian Foster. They remembered how he actually played in meaningful games against the Pats and Dolphins in 2009 and they didn't simply accept the words of people saying "Tate is a high draft pick...its his show".

For anyone voting "Other", please feel free to state who you have voted for and why you like that player as a selection in the current slot.

I like to hear the arguements for alternative players that are not always deemed to be the consensus pick, as that information can be very valuable.

I selected TB WR Mike Williams last year with the 1.05 pick to a few cries of "reach" from a few of my league mates, but I just smiled as I was confident on my research and due dilligence on him as a pick at the 1.05 spot, and I knew a few other league members were also targeting him early.
