Voting closed. Vote for RB #8 here.

RB #1: Jim Brown 48.5% of the vote.

RB #2: Walter Payton 41.7% of the vote.

RB #3: Barry Sanders 70.6% of the vote.

RB #4: OJ Simpson 27.4% of the vote.

RB #5(tie): Marshall Faulk 25.2% of the vote.

RB #5(tie): Emmitt Smith 25.2% of the vote.

RB #7: Eric Dickerson 41.0% of the vote.

Time to settle who are the top 10 running backs of all time. The first poll is to vote for the #7 RB of all time. The second poll is to pick the player who didn't make the list of candidates this time but who should be included in the list for the next slot. The voting for RB #5 was a tie when I called it, so going to leave them tied and promote two more people to the voting pool. Edgerrin James and Priest Holmes were promoted based on the previous voting.

I've googled about 20 all time top ten lists and chose 14 of the players listed most often, and included Adrian Peterson as the active back I thought most likely to get votes somewhere in the top ten.

I also grabbed some RBs who didn't make the list this time, but maybe should be included for voting of later slots. The second poll is to decide which one of these RBs gets promoted to the main list next time. If there is someone you think actually belongs in the top ten list who isn't in either list, please post them.

I think Dickerson is going to win this in a landslide. For a suggestion on the next round would be to put Joe Perry in the on deck vote. 9000+ career rushing yards, was the all time leading rusher when he retired, averaged 5.0 YPC.

Still don't get the lack of love for Billy Sims. He was the #1 Fantasy Player scorer in football in both 1980 and 1981.

Career was too short - and no one played fantasy football when Billy Sims played.

Not to be a homer, but how does 144 TD's go unnoticed?
Allen just wasn't a dominant player. He basically played like a 30+ year old Tomlinson for a dozen years. Also, TDs aren't a great stat to judge a RB on because they are easily manipulated by coaches and playcalling. There is a reason that the TD record was broken 4 times in 6 years (with Tomlinson, Faulk, Holmes, and Alexander) - coaches wanted their player to break it. Not to mention scoring short TDs isn't all that hard - if it was QBs wouldn't do it all the time.

Twice as many yards are Bo Jackson, who is on the list. And played with pathetic QB's like Gary Danielson and Eric Hipple.

Oh, I don't think Bo should be on the list either - nor Sayers. Jamaal Charles has just as much right to be on the list as Bo, Sayers, or Sims.

Bo Jackson wasn't on the list until multiple people asked for him at the start of the series. I'll try to remember to put him in next time.

LT2 beats or matches Dickerson in just about every category, was just as dominant during his time, and had less than half the fumbles on more touches.
