Week 1 waiver wire pickups (1 Viewer)

Dickson was drafted in all my leagues.
 Dude, there are 8-team leagues, 16-team leagues, deep benches, shallow benches, etc. Dickson may not be available in any of my leagues either ... I don't know for sure. If someone lists Ray Rice as a nice WW pickup, that's obviously crazy even in a 2 man league, but if folks are posting players that may reasonably be expected to be available in a statistically significant number of leagues, who cares if he's not available in yours?? Just move on and see if any of the rest of the posts are helpful for your league.

Greg Salas? Did he come in to replace Amendola when the latter went out with the injury? From what I'd read, Salas was being groomed to eventually take Amendola's slot role anyway. Salas could become a PPR gem with some seasoning.

If they are out there Robert Meachem and Devey Henderson. These two have been teasers for years so they may have not been drafted in some leagues, In a 12 team 28 man roster I do have Meachem.

Ed Dickison is a solid pickup based on what the Flacco and Ravens showed today,

Any Ram RB at this point. S Jax is hurt, Caddy has always had injury issues.

Kerry Collins is a pickup for QB depth. Shouild get better with time.

Evan Moore TE looks to be red zone option for the Browns.

Dropped Bradford for Flacco in my 10-teamer. I had them both about even going into the year, but Flacco's performance against a tough D swayed me the other way. Plus, Roethlisberger is my starter so I might have to go with the match-ups instead of riding him.

In pretty deep leagues, so most of names are gone.

Looking into the likes of Doug Baldwin WR Sea, Scott Chandler TE Buf, David Nelson WR Buf and possibly Caddy.

You picked up Flacco in the middle of the game? What kind of league does that?

Any chance they bring Avery back now?
:no:Not because of Amendola's injury. Not even sure Avery would agree to return if they determine Alexander isn't worth the trouble now.

It is probably too early to jettison Cook yet but in a league I have both I'll probably start FDavis next week. Don't know anything about Chandler other than the Chiefs stink but the Berry injury probably hurt their game plan. He is starting though. I'd put Gresham up there if unclaimed perhaps behind FDavis though. Hate to overreact to one game as all these TE's are likely to be inconsistent.

Caddy has to top most lists in deeper leagues if unclaimed although not sure if he can hold up ... and if Bradford is out too it may be kinda moot.

Dev Henderson may top many lists unless Meachem is still there then he is probably the #1 claim.

Newton obviously tops lists if he's out there and Grossman may actually be viable. May be a good idea to grab some of the backups of better offenses at QB like in Det or GB ... although it's not going well in Indy so that won't always work.

Will Randy Moss go to Houston, New Orleans, or stay retired?

What do we know about this cat? I know he also had a big pre-season game and was undrafted.
If all the Seattle WRs are healthy, I think he and Tate would toggle being the WR5/Inactive depending on how they're playing. He could certainly move up the ranks if the 1-4 guys struggle or say Washington gets hurt/ineffective at returns. Fastest guy on the team though iirc. The team will also have to make a decision in 5 weeks whn/if Deon Butler come off the PUP. Butler wasn't tearing things up when he got hurt last year so it's not guaranteed that he'd bump a WR off, but Baldwin could possibly be a casualty then as well. But he hustled and grunted his way onto the roster so if he keeps getting the opportunities he got today and capitalizing on him he could easily survive the axe.

Not a Seattle homer so I don't know about preseason/training camp/etc, but remember that this came in a game when Sidney Rice was out. Almost all of his targets also only came when Obomanu came out of the game with an injury. Finally, 55 of his 83 yards came on one play that was basically blown coverage by the niners. For most of the game, the Seahawks offense was pretty worthless. I think he's a guy you can keep an eye on, but he's pretty far down on the depth chart of a team that's really struggling offensively.

are you saying he's behind Durham?

How do you rank the waiver wire TEs within the WRs for leagues where all TEs and WRs count the same?

Henderson

Dickson

Chandler

David Nelson/Donald Jones - not sure who's the true #2 WR in BUF yet.

Gresham

Gibson

Armstrong

I think that's how I'd rank them.

No, well sort of, possibly. Durham is the WR6 and was inactive today. Baldwin would still toggle between WR5/inactive when Rice is healthy, but perhaps it would be Durham's job on the line when Butler returns. However, since Butler and Baldwin are the same size and both can return kicks one of them might be the one to go instead of Durham, who is a much bigger possession-type receiver. Makes more sense to keep a big guy and a little guy instead of two little guys, especially since drafting little guys is one of the bigger reasons the last GM was canned and why the team is/was constantly being out muscled.Butler has been a disappointment though and if Baldwin can keep his level of play up, Carroll holds no loyalty to Butler and will keep the guy who comPetes the best.

Week 1 TES will always be a crapshoot. But always take the TE that you think will be involved for the rest of the year--which, in itself, is a crapshoot.....sometimes!!
