Doesn't really matter about the talent. X-Factor will be better because of the judges.
Simon - the best in the business.
Paula - her train wrecks are entertaining.
LA Reid - Randy Jackson with actual credibility.
Nicole - better eye candy than J'LO IMO.
The talent changes each season, but the judges are who make the show.

If you're ever in the mood to watch a scummy Chef Boyardee nail a woman while she tries to hold back vomiting, Bing's got you covered.

Nothing wrong with Nicole, but I was disappointed to see that she replaced the other chick. As soon as I saw the original judge, I thought, "I don't know who she is, but I'd watch the show just because of her". She instantly entered my top 5. Apparently she was fired cause her accent was too strong.

It's pretty much the same thing. Only it has the judges who made American Idol entertaining. What's the premise here? How does it differ from Idol?

Best I can tell it's "America's Got Talent" only limited to singers. People come out and sing in front of a live audience and the judges. What's the premise here? How does it differ from Idol?

You play to win the Big Ten championship, and if you win it and go to the Rose Bowl and win it, then you've had a great season. If they choose to vote you number one, then you're the national champion. But a national champion is a mythical national champion, and I think you guys ought to know that. It's mythical." - Bo Schembechler

Same thing except...
- no age restriction (12 years old and up)
- can perform in groups
- believe can use instruments?
- auditions in front of a huge audience and with background tracks
- 4 judges instead of 3
The final guy tonight....white guy, garbage man, 70 days sober out of rehab, sang an original song with his self produced music....was pretty great.
He found a crack in the system? I think someone would find crack in your system if you were tested right now.

Well the first ten minutes were focused on a 12 year old girl. Give the show a chance. Later on there is a 42 year old Aretha/Whitney type of singer, and a recovering drug addict...as well as a guy who dropped his pants..which was wierd. I mean, you would think that security/police would have immediately escorted him off stage. Isn't that a crime?

"I hadn't seen the Lake communities on the west side of Cleveland since my post-college days, when the family considered moving to northeast Ohio. Beautiful. The parks, the homes on the lake, the green space ... Anyone who rips Cleveland has never been to the west side of town." - Peter King, SI.com
If Urban Meyer wants to be a football coach, he will do it at the University of Florida.
Meyer wants no part of that job, and neither does Stoops, Gruden or anybody else on the top shelf. Meyer can call his shot, and it's not going to be at a train wreck like O$U.

but there are people in life, people you know in your own personal life Joe that just always seem to have a cloud over them. I try to distance myself form those folks as much as possible and I bet you do to.
Clearly, I am the not-bright one.

I just don't buy that these people were "great". They're piping in fake audience reaction noise, putting plants in the front of the audience to do the "oh my god!" reaction for the camera. The play up the down and destitute story, the whole fake l.a. reid/simon rivalry brewing. Paula puking at the site of shlong? c'mon. It's absolutely terrible. My favorite line from the judges was, "I tell people that the x-factor is indescribable. That's why you have the x-factor."Mixed feelings.
I thought the talent was great. 3 legitimate great singers. The first little girl has a GREAT voice. The older lady (42) was unbelievable. Amazing voice. Then the final guy that did a "self-written song" (those almost never work) was also great.
The one thing that got on my nerve is that there is always music playing in the background. That got old for me really quickly. Obviously they are trying to make the audition shows more exciting than Idol, and make it different.
In that degree it was interesting, seeing the people audition in front of a big audience. But I can't slam the show for "fake reactions" when that's what American Idol was built on too. It is a TV show, just like Idol, no question.
In the end, the judges are ten times better on this show, and as long as there is legit talent, I think I'll invest my time into this one. Randy, Jlo and Tyler were UNWATCHABLE for me last year. Just horrible judges that did nothing but threw praise at every performer.
I think the audition format is losing it's luster in both American Idol and it will quickly in Xfactor. Seeing the bad auditions was unbelievably hilarious the first couple seasons of AI. But it gets boring quickly.
Can't really judge this show until it really gets going. But I think it will be better than AI.

I can't believe that let that Prince-wannabe idiot through. His only purpose is to be a total train-wreck drama queen. He has no real music or singing talent. All he did was run around stage like prince on steroids. Complete buffoon.

I thought it was pretty decent. I liked that they burned through most of the bad auditions quickly where Idol would have lingered on them for a half hour. Well, except for the guy who dropped his drawers of course.

The whole problem with the show can be traced back to the susan boyle thing. That video went viral, she became a huge star and now this show is just going to try to copy that formula. The simon "oh my god, i'm shocked you're so good" face he makes, it's just so obviously fake. You can say that AI was built using a similar formula and yes they'd play up people's stories, too much sometimes, but at the end of the day they were standing in a room alone singing a-capella. You hit the nail on the head with the sappy music playing under the judges comments. How about the slo-mo standing-o from the judging? ridiculous. You don't need to be bombarded with positive reinforcement to see and hear talent. You'll just know it when it's there.

Watched about 20 minutes. Saw it as a hybrid of American Idol, America's Got Talent and The Voice. And I only have a slight interest in AI anymore and don't watch the other two regularly. So, I'm probably out on this.

She doesn't bother me that much. She won't make it very far imo, but she has some talent. The rapper kid is just bad imo.
