Client @ ChrisOgbonnaya is excited to join his new team, the Cleveland # Browns!

Chris Ogobonnaya signed by Browns, look for Hillis to be hurt or traded tomorrow.

Honestly, I can see MIA (OC Brian Daboll), NYJ or NE trading for him. NE might be a stretch because of all the RBs in their backfield, but Hillis had a great game against them last year.

if Hillis gets traded, he will not be a starter this season barring injury.

I agree

wow another overreaction to a street signingyou guys still holding onto Slaton?
It's not about the guy being signed off the street. It's more of an indication that the Browns are concerned enough with what they saw in the MRI to sign at least a warm body.

can Ogobonnaya pass block? Why is no one under the impression that this signing has anything to do with Hardesty's poor pass blocking and dropped passes?

No kidding. I get the whole Hillis drama is the bigger storyline, but man Hardesty's play has been awful.

If a RB is going to be out a week or two you sign a backup RB. It's simple roster logic ALL teams engage in.

That being said, it doesn't mean there wasn't other thinking behind this either (i.e., trade).

@JayGlazer Jay Glazer

The Browns have been telling teams they are not trading Peyton Hillis. There's been some inquiries and they've said they're not interested

@JasonLaCanfora Jason La Canfora

Teams making calls on Browns RB Peyton Hillis. Don't think a trade is all that likely but not impossible either

Speculate away.

Eventually, it should be pretty clear his hamstring injury means they need more depth at RB.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him somewhere else. I just don't have high expectations that he'll be moved. I'd much prefer the trade coaches with some other team so Shurmur's suckitude can be a thing of the past. How he train-wrecked a good Oline & RB into the mess it is offensively is just beyond me.

NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora suggests the Lions could make a final-hour inquiry into Hillis.

Obviously, it's a long shot but if you own Hillis you couldn't ask for a better situation if Best is indeed out for a while. If you own Hillis and Hardesty, you hit the jackpot.

I hope Hillis is on the move. Not sure how much it helps Hardesty sure he is #1 on the depth chart but he has payed terrible so far.

Any running back getting 15+ touches a game has value, especially if you're in a PPR league.

True, Just not sure I would call it hitting the jackpot.

I think Hillis moving to the 'Best'less Lions increases his value and getting a top 30 running back in addition seems pretty damn close to hitting the jackpot.

It would be a no-brainer move for the Lions, as they need a power running game to compliment Best. I just don't think it happens.

hillis is going to want a new contract in a trade, so it isn't just a pick a team has to give up, it's also a big contract to a guy who has only has 1 good season who could be in trouble with HGH testing.

I keep hearing the HGH thing - is there anything this is based on other than his physical appearance? I haven't heard any speculation (outside of message boards that he has tested positive for HGH).

I was referring to Hardesty not Hillis. No doubt Hillis changing to teams is an upgrade for him.

Seconded.

Yaknow, if two teams called about Choice - as reported by RW with a linked source - then wouldn't those teams be likely to call about Hillis too?

Chris Mortensen now reporting that Hillis is on the block and could be traded today.
Please, please, please - get him the hell out of Cleveland!!!
This could save my season. Cmon Miami!! Denver? TB???? Then we could finally make a legit comparison to Alstott! If Palmer got moved, anything can happen.
I am with you.Missed out on Hillis last year - got him in several leagues this year and it is killing me. I also targeted Charles and Ingram......................What is frustrating is that Shurmur is just not using Hillis - as for HGH, why would they be playing him at all, and why would he not be suspended if he has tested positive?

I'm not an owner of either back but I will say this, Shurmur is a verry bad coach and I hope Hillis leaves via FA next year because that franchise is a huge mess from top to bottom. (this includes Holmgren)

The HGH talk is silly. As far his FF prospects, Hillis is a great buy-low in dynasty leagues, IMO.

It would surprise me if Hillis agrees to a long-term contract for what the Browns want to sign him for. He'll be a hot commodity in FA this offseason. He would be a perfect fit for the Lions & a bunch of other teams. Hillis is a rare combination of power & pass-catching ability.

In FA, he'll get to pick his spot. I believe we're looking at a monster in 2012 (much like 2010).

realistically i think the Browns think in the future that Hardesty can do more or be more dynamic than Hillis. everyone that keeps saying Hardesty is trash, what exactly has Hillis done in nearly a year that looks better than Montario right now? this years stats don't like as they are playing with same cast and many times in same situations. Hardesty isn't just playing a change of pace role or taking draws where stats lie, he is playing same role as Hillis when he comes in. fact is he's averaging more as a rusher and as a receiver. he may drop more passes but he sure does more as he

this is basically Montario's rookie year so many of his errors can be corrected and everyone knows its the 2nd year after a knee injury that the explosiveness comes back. so we've yet to see the best of Hardesty. he has not looked nearly as bad as some of you have posted. most of the hate is from Hillis owners letting off steam.

Hillis has been good but not great and they've been trying to get someone they hope more explosive in there or atleast a chance of pace. its very similar to whats going on in New England where the incumbent Law Firm is very steady but not spectacular.......so patriots draft 2 more explosive guys to start siphoning off Law firms touches and do more with what Brady opens up.

Hillis's great run last year seems to be what Allstott would've looked like given every carry if Dunn would've sustained a major injury. Bucs knew to get a lead they needed to play Dunn to keep or ice a game they needed Allstott.

1. Catches balls2. Doesn't get his QB killed on blitzes

3. Doesn't have an extensive history of knee surgeries

They are both running equally poorly right now, though.

I'll certainly take that Hardesty should at this point maybe only play on early downs, but on those early downs he has not looked inferior to Hillis when in same game situations. when he does play on passing downs or shurmer(knows his rawness in blocking) puts him out there its simple he does more with it(when he catches it). i'll reiterate that Hardesty is basically a rookie(and still receovering). look at the improvement and workload increase for ryan mathews from last year.......it is night and day. shonne greene has even shown improvement in his hands when it looked like he had blocks for mitts year one. Hillis was a fullback(and has the body of one) for how many years? so of course his blocking is going to be superior. his blocking is always going to be better.

IMHO the browns want more explosive plays and they believe as Hardesty evolves/rounds into form he can supply those. The browns defense is simply not good enuff to simply run Hillis 25x's a game and consistently win or win enuff to make the playoffs. without the D or the explosive plays they can't score enuff to win on a consistent basis. not saying that Hardesty will become the bellcow but he will have a important role in the offense in a RBBC

The problem is not the def. they have been pretty decent this year.

rated 7th overall in total yards per game with 321.8.

pass def is 4th with 192 yds a game

run def is 27th with 129.8 yds a game. ( but 7th best against per carry avg. and only 2 rush td's 5th best)

they do need help with the run def but 166 rushed on and only 139 passes against.

the problem is play calling. IMO. colt is still very raw. he is pretty smart with the ball. little off target.

last year clev ran 891 plays

413 rush 46%

478 pass 54%

so far this year they have had 339 plays

122 rush 36%

217 pass 64%

there is no reason at all why Clev should be passing so much.

did a little looking back to last year and this year. for the colts, pats, packers, and saints

2010:

indy 63% pass : 37% run

saints 63% pass : 37 run

pats 53% pass : 47% run

GB 56% pass : 44 run

2011

indy 60% pass : 40 run

saints 63% pass : 37 run

pats 59% pass : 41 run

GB 57% pass : 43 run

these have to be basically the top teams for passing. granted indy and saints pass alot more. but look how even pats and GB are.

my point being i guess is they have a capable back in hillis to run the ball 20 times a game. which has happened only once (27-94 2 tds indy)

they will not get it done at all passing so much.

against indy clev only threw 32 times.

hillis is the type of back that will wear out the def and get stronger later in the game.

clev has only been down fast once where they had to pass the ball and that was against Tenn.

Hardesty just isnt ready yet. he sucks ### at picking up the blitz. and i think he is worse at catching the ball than blocking.

the loss of steinbach hurt tons. that is a major factor and the right side is having a rough time blocking period.

mccoys inaccuracy stems from that with pressure in his face constantly.

and please stop with the HGH crap talk. go back and look at his pictures. he has always been a big guy. he works hard. give him some credit.
