The Eagles have traded out-of-favor running back Ronnie Brown to the Lions for Jerome Harrison and an undisclosed 2013 draft pick.
Harrison, an Eagles backup last year, has 14 carries for 41 yards this year in Detroit. Brown had fallen out of the running back rotation after a costly fumble against the 49ers.
Ronnie will have some value in ppr leagues, but he is going to a new system...takes a while for them to learn the book.I guess I can drop Keiland Williams in about 5 leagues.
I don't know about huge but you would think it certainly increases his value.Contemplating picking up Brown now to add depth to my declining RB corps but I'm not sure how much value he'll have. Especially since I need help over the next 2-3 weeks. If this isn't BS, this is pretty freaking huge for Ronnie Brown, right?
I doubt they make this deal if they only expect Best to miss the next game. How long is Best out with this type of deal? should be a while.
Why? Seems like a low risk deal for both sides.I doubt they make this deal if they only expect Best to miss the next game. How long is Best out with this type of deal? should be a while.
Played for linehan in miami though. Like the move for the lionsRonnie will have some value in ppr leagues, but he is going to a new system...takes a while for them to learn the book.I guess I can drop Keiland Williams in about 5 leagues.
I was thinking the same thing - he's becoming Mr. Trade for RB Bench FodderHarrison continues to get passed around as a bench cozy.
Merge I guess.Lock or merge coming
Situation is what its all about. He really never had a shot to steal carries from McCoy, but he will walk in and compliment Best very well when he gets back.Good for Ronnie Brown, should be able to carry it 10-12 times a game and give them a goal line back. Detroit is likely going to the playoffs and they need a pounder to do some dirty work at times. Good move for them, forget whatever you saw Brown do or not do in Philly, this is a much better situation for him IMHO.
Linehan was OC in MIA when Ronnie showed up in the NFL. Shouldn't be a big transition for a veteran back.Morris is at best a back-up RB and only borderline competent in that role. If Best misses any extended time, Brown is the pick-up.Ronnie will have some value in ppr leagues, but he is going to a new system...takes a while for them to learn the book.I guess I can drop Keiland Williams in about 5 leagues.
Detroit just traded away a player and a 7th for a third string RB? That just doesn't sound realistic to me. My opinion is that Detroit is most likely going to a committee approach and Morris is looking like the 3rd down back. Either that or Morris moves to change of pace and Brown stays on the field more. No way you make the move unless you feel like you need to. I think this also tells you that Best's injury could be serious. Two concussions inside a year usually is. He's out for a couple weeks for sure.Dion Lewis is better than Brown and Harrison. Nothing to see here.Mo Morris still the backup to own. Ronnie may overtake Keiland Williams as the plodding SY back.
And to add on that, I don't think Brown will have a huge impact fantasy wise again in his career. But I do think this will make Detroit a much stronger team as he is essentially a band aid for the rest of the year until they get Leshoure back next season or pick another guy in the draft.Brown will have a lot of stat lines that look something like 8/38, 6/22, 12/48...but those yards and likely 1st downs he will create can help Detroit a lot the rest of the way. I wouldn't expect a lot though in terms of fantasy. It's a bigger deal in terms of NFL.Situation is what its all about. He really never had a shot to steal carries from McCoy, but he will walk in and compliment Best very well when he gets back.Good for Ronnie Brown, should be able to carry it 10-12 times a game and give them a goal line back. Detroit traded a game day inactive player (Harrison) and a 7th for Philly's 3rd string RB (Ronnie Brown)Brown will end the Keiland Williams experiment.Detroit just traded away a player and a 7th for a third string RB? A very good post. Brown's ability in pass protection is the key.Harrison was poor at pass protection and Detroit's future is Stafford. Hence why Harrison was a healthy scratch for so long. The Lions get Ronnie Brown who can pass protect and he's a veteran. This will cut into Keiland William's time. Mo Morris is still the handcuff.
Jerome Harrison can't catch a break is absolutely terrible
We'll see. You may be right, but you sound like a Miami fan who spoiled on Brown. Which is fine.My bet is you see Brown on the field, back in Linehan's offense, day 1. How was Brown's production under Linehan last time? Exactly. My bet is day 1, play 1, he is the starter until Best comes back.Detroit traded a game day inactive player (Harrison) and a 7th for Philly's 3rd string RB (Ronnie Brown)Brown will end the Keiland Williams experiment.Detroit just traded away a player and a 7th for a third string RB? I just stated the facts -- Harrison's been inactive & it didn't take Philly long to realize Ronnie was done & got passed by Dion Lewis. Actually thought Ronnie would have gotten waived by Philly soon for someone with ST ability.Sounds like someone doesn't want to let the past be the past to me.We'll see. Nah, if and when Best is healthy his role won't change IMO. The Lions are still a pass first team and this is what Best excels in. I can see Brown vulturing TDs and doing the short yardage work.I have a bad feeling about how this will affect Best. I see him being a situational player now, rather than an every down back. Hopefully he'll still get a good amount of touches when he comes back, but this could be bad news for Best owners.
Ehh, not like Jahvid Best has done anything with goal line carries anyway (outside of week 2). I hope you're right...Nah, if and when Best is healthy his role won't change IMO. I kind of think the Lions would have done this deal even if Best was completely healthy. I think it has been obvious that they ahve wanted a situational between the tackles runner at spots in games all year. this is probably a GOOD thing for Best. He seems out of his element when trying to pound the inside running lanes.
You doubt that they'd trade a RB that has been inactive almost every week this season and a 7th round pick unless they expected Best to miss multiple games? I don't see the connection. I just think they wanted to add a bigger back.I doubt they make this deal if they only expect Best to miss the next game. How long is Best out with this type of deal? should be a while.
This was my thought on the acquisition of RB. Sprinkle in a wildcat near the goalline for fun. This trade has more to do with protecting Stafford, their future and savior, more than what's going on with Best. The second purpose for this trade is insurance incase Best does not make it through the year whether it's a concussion or if he turned an ankle. Whatever you want to call it, Keiland and Morris aren't good at pass protection. Ronnie Brown is the superior blocker and he has veteran experience.
