Best Fantasy Schedules for WR (1 Viewer)

David Yudkin

Footballguy
Like the threads for the other positions, here are the best schedules in Weeks 14-16 for WR based on results from Weeks 1-10. 0 PPR, 1 pt = 10 yds, 6 pts = TD.

For example, WAS . . .

NE = 1st highest fantasy points allowed to WR

NYG = 16th highest fantasy points allowed to WR

MIN = 3rd highest fantasy points allowed to WR

Total = 20

Code:

Unfortunate that WAS is so bad a team.

I will try and just pull out the week 15/16 ones and see how that changes rankings for those who have 2 week title matchups and/or week 14 byes.

Request to please add Week 17 into the table as well??
If somebody decides to do this, please do it separately. I (and many others I am sure) have never been in a league that plays week 17.Same thing for the separating of week 15 and 16 from week 14 - I will make a separate post of just that info.

This is weeks 15 and 16 only. Enjoy!

When there was a tie, I put the team with the better week 16 matchup first. I think. I may have missed one.

MIA 9 1 10 BUF, NEDEN 1 9 10 NE, BUFBUF 7 4 11 MIA, DENNE 4 7 11 DEN, MIACIN 5 8 13 STL, ARINO 3 10 13 MIN, ATLPIT 12 5 17 SF, STLWAS 16 3 19 NYG, MINKC 6 18 24 GB, OAKCHI 20 6 26 SEA, GBDAL 15 13 28 TB, PHINYJ 13 16 29 PHI, NYGCLE 8 21 29 ARI, BALHOU 28 2 30 CAR, INDSEA 19 12 31 CHI, SFGB 14 19 33 KC, CHITEN 2 31 33 IND, JAXDET 18 17 35 OAK, SDMIN 11 24 35 NO, WASCAR 23 15 38 HOU, TBJAC 10 29 39 ATL, TENOAK 26 14 40 DET, KCATL 31 11 42 JAX, NOSD 21 26 47 BAL, DETBAL 17 32 49 SD, CLESF 30 20 50 PIT, SEANYG 24 27 51 WAS, NYJIND 29 23 52 TEN, HOUPHI 27 25 52 NYJ, DALSTL 22 30 52 CIN, PITTB 25 28 53 DAL, CARARI 32 22 54 CLE, CIN

Something I noticed is that if you take out week 14, Pittsburgh jumps way up on the list.

This list can be misleading. We all know GBs pass D sucks but did you see Minnesota last night?
It isn't misleading. It's a metric. It's not saying in the playoffs Anthony Armstrong is a better start than Hakeem Nicks. It's just showing you strength of schedule. This could be largely useful for someone looking to make a last minute trade or two for the playoff run. Take it at face value not as gods word.

True... but Santana Moss should be back week 12... and I figure after a couple of hit or miss weeks ... by week 14 should be back to top form and we all know how much Grossman targets him as long as he remains the starter and Washington keeps losing games.. he could be a great WR #3 for those of us in need for the playoffs

Last week I wrote an article using Fantasy Outsiders "Defense Vs. WR Types" grid and noted the matchups vs. WR1, WR2, Other WR, Receiving RB and TE that are much better or worse than that particular defenses overall ranking. Something else to consider in conjunction with SOS.

I simply went through the remainder of the NFL schedule (weeks 10-17) and identified the team and position which stands to gain/lose from the individual matchup compared to the opposition’s overall ranking.

I sifted through the 32 NFL teams and took note of any positional ranking that was +/- 12 spots of that defenses overall rank. For example, under the heading “BETTER THAN ADVERTISED” in Week 10 you see NEP TE/Jets 1:29. That’s simply pointing out the fact that, while conventional start/sit recommendations would suggest a tough matchup for Tom Brady’s TE tandem of Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski this weekend against the Jets #1 ranked pass defense overall, the truth is that matchup is practically as good as it gets! (29th vs. TE)

As you’re reviewing my notes below, please be mindful of the fact that, in Fantasy Outsider’s assessment of stats allowed to opposing positions, they admit their “decision of which receiver is 'number one' and which receiver is 'number two' is somewhat subjective”; clearly something to keep in mind when applying these stats to your own roster decisions.

To reiterate, the following are what are widely considered to be mediocre to poor overall NFL defenses that present a bad matchup for the preceding position/team by week. For example, under week 10 you see (SDC TE/Raiders 25:3) the Raiders are ranked 25th overall vs. the pass, however - on paper - they present a very difficult matchup for Antonio Gates (3rd vs. TE).

That is unreadable dude. Thanks for the effort though.
It really is worth deciphering. It's amazing how many situations there are out there where a team is a top 10 pass D overall (or even a top 10 pass D vs. WR's) yet they're 18th in the league vs. WR1's. That's GREAT information for...say, Vincent Jackson owners to have this weekend.

Last week I wrote an article using Fantasy Outsiders "Defense Vs. WR Types" grid and noted the matchups vs. WR1, WR2, Other WR, Receiving RB and TE that are much better or worse than that particular defenses overall ranking. Something else to consider in conjunction with SOS.I simply went through the remainder of the NFL schedule (weeks 10-17) and identified the team and position which stands to gain/lose from the individual matchup compared to the opposition’s overall ranking. (29th vs. TE)As you’re reviewing my notes below, please be mindful of the fact that, in Fantasy Outsider’s assessment of stats allowed to opposing positions, they admit their “decision of which receiver is 'number one' and which receiver is 'number two' is somewhat subjective”; clearly something to keep in mind when applying these stats to your own roster decisions.BETTER THAN ADVERTISEDWeek 10: NEP TE/Jets 1:29, TB WR1/Texans 5:30, DET WR1/Bears 6:18, IND WR2/Jaguars 7:23, NYG WR1/49ers 8:25, BUF WR2/Cowboys 9:21, BUF TE/Cowboys 9:21, MIA rec. seems like it's 50/50 with these predictions. It's hard to clarify who is the 'other' wr, or with some teams, who is WR1 and WR2.
Exactly. That's the real problem is that FO's Def vs. WR Types Grid doesn't specify who they are using to analyze that production each week. For some systems, it's fairly obvious (i.e. - Jennings WR1, Nelson WR2) but for many teams it gets murky. But those numbers are more than just this guy will do well and that guy won't. It's all relative to their season averages. For instance this week Wes Welker looks like a favorable matchup with the Chiefs but a closer look reveals they're actually #2 vs opposing WR1's. But NO WAY does that imply Welker is expected to struggle or that he should be benched. It simply means the matchup isn't as good as it looks on paper. Just like last week, the Browns WR2 didn't do squat vs. a great matchup with the Rams. Well...the Browns WR2 hasn't don't anything all year. So it's probably more of a wash than an indictment against the numbers.

I liked this information but the huge change in the rankings may reduce the validity of the rankings in my opinion.

How did NE go from the 6th best matchup to the 17th best matchup over the course of two weeks? Are the rankings so close that these numbers don't mean that much? Would a total fantasy points allowed per team they are facing be more of an accurate portrayal?

Moss has not done blip since coming off the injured list but, New England has given up ridiculous numbers to Garcon and Avant the last weeks. I am kind of put out I did not start Garcon last week.

Marshall 13/7/139/0

VJax 15/10/172/2

Stevie J 10/8/94/1

Donald Jones 5/101/1

DHB 7/4/115/0

Santonio 6/4/60/1

Antonio Brown 15/9/67/1

Cruz 11/6/91/0

Santonio 8/6/93/0

Bowe (w/ Palko!) 9/7/87/0

Avant 14/8/110/1

Garcon 12/9/150/2

Every team but KC with Palko and Dallas scored a WR TD on them.

Fred Davis' targets (13 last week) have to go somewhere.

Anyone see a start for Moss here?

I think Moss is a must start in almost any league; on my team I rate him as my best WR this week over Brandon Lloyd (v. Sea) and A. Boldin (v. Indi).

Looking ahead to next week and the week after only. A few guys I am debating

Brad smith, Devin Aromishadu, Davone Bess and Demaryius thomas.

before you laugh all have really nice schedules and should be behind in games or in shootouts (as MIA plays BUF one of those weeks)

Demariyus plays the Pats next week and I have to imagine they will need to throw to stay in that one.

Demaryius Thomas is a risky play because you never know if Tebow is even going to throw the ball, much less to whom he is going to throw it.

I'm in a must win situation for one of 4 playoff spots and am seriously considering going with Gaffney. My hope is that Moss gets some extra attention and Gaffney benefits. Regardless, I think both Moss and Gaffney are good plays this week.

true, you could get 2 pts you could get 20. But if Denver is to stay in te game with the Pats on any level, they are gonna need to score points (and many from 2tds+ behind I believe) It's boom/bust for sure, but I think the boom is more likely.

Wow. Cleveland is far and away the best defense against WRs. I've looked at the WRs they've faced, and there really aren't any special ones, but those are some gaudy numbers.

Is their secondary really that good, or do teams just decide to ram it down their throat running the football? I guess I'll check out the game tonight to see how they fare against Wallace, Brown, and Big Ben.

Signed,

Concerned Larry Fitzgerald owner with a bye week.
