Game Thread W12 - Houston V Jacksonville (1 Viewer)

Foster fumbles on his first carry of the game and Youbooty recovers for Jaguars and runs it in for the TD. Jaguars lead 7-0!

Would have bet money that Houston came out with a bootleg on their first play to keep the Def honest and sure enough...

3 and out on 2nd series. After 2 completions, Leinart lucky not to be picked off on 3rd down.

Leinart with three short complete passes early in the game, including a check down and a TE screen that lost a yard. Then throws into coverage on third and short, lucky it wasn't picked. Texans play calls so far, 4 passes, and the 1 run that was fumbled.

Gabbert's first three passes (2 on earlier drive) he's faced pressure on, resulting in 2 bad throws and a pass knocked down at the line. Followed by a nice throw to Cecil Shorts but he couldn't come up with the diving catch.

Safety was moved over to help against Andre Johnson or he probably would have stopped that for an 8-10 yard gain.

Foster scores a 1 yard plunge on his third rush attempt from inside the 3 yard line. Texans tie the game 7-7.

Ugh, hate it every time they give it to Karim. He is no MJD, and no Rashad Jennings. This guy should only see daylight on special teams.

Middleton will be hearing from the commissioner. Blow to the back of the head of a defenseless receiver.

Announcers talking about Gabbert: "Getting it close to the WR just ain't enough."
The Jaguars receivers aren't the best in the league. The reason for the Jags being the 32nd ranked offense isn't all Gabbert's fault.
I thought it was overly harsh. Gabbert was 2 for 7 at time but with 2 drops.
If this were the first game of the year Gabbert struggled then it would be overly harsh. He's blown chunks all season. He looks like a bust already.

I thought it was accurate enough on that play. He threw the ball late, receiver had no chance to make the catch before it would have gone out of bounds.

Too early to be called a bust, but probably could have done with another season in college and definitely a full offseason of learning, the lockout hurt his development, and it's been slow progress during the season.

Two pass plays with time to throw, two completions for Gabbert, a short pass to Jones-Drew who had a long catch and run, then a 25 yard pass to Shorts.

Marcedes Lewis drops a wide open touchdown on 2nd down. 3rd down thrown his way again, but didn't see ball possibly in the sun. They weren't on the same page anyway.

Brownstone, if you are going to give the ball to a running back with the expectation of getting two yards, might as well give it to Greg Jones and let him blast over defenders, he will get 2 yards with a shot at getting atleast 5 yards.

A promising drive ends in a field goal for Scobee. Jags retake the lead 10-7. But as mentioned, Lewis dropped a wide open TD pass.

Thought the throw to Shorts was bad. He way underthrew it and Shorts had to come back to it and go low. If he had hit him in stride it would have been a lot more than 25.

I don't know why they don't give it to Jones more. Yeah injuries have taken away a lot of his ability, but he's still a load.

What's the consensus going here so far? Jags really outplaying Houston?
I think the consensus would say that the defenses are outplaying the offense for both teams. Aside from a big play by the offense on each side, there hasn't been any sustained drives.

Not really, no. If anything both defenses are outplaying both offenses.

Thanks, fellas.

Dressen scores on a 20 yard pass from Leinart. The score was set up by a 43 yard punt return by he Texans to the Jags 26 yard line. Texans retake the lead 14-10.

Jonathan Joseph interception. Gabbert just sort of threw it up there and Joseph outplayed the receiver.
