Kyle Williams WR SF (This kid is gaining steam) (1 Viewer)

Kyle Williams WR SF is a player to take notice if you are a dynasty owner. I think he is a player to stash. I've stashed him as my WR4 behind Maclin,Harvin, and Antonio Brown. These are his stats last 3 games.

Week 11 vs AZ

5 targets and 5 REC for 54 yds and 1 TD

Week 12 vs BAL

1 target (wasn't really used in this game as SF never really got going vs BAL on Thanksgiving day)

Week 13 vs STL

2 targets and 2 REC for 66 yds and TD (Also had 1 rush for 25 yards) If any of you saw this rush it was quite impressive. He stiff armed the crap out of Quintin Mikkell. Here is what Jim Harbaugh said about the stiff arm.

WR Kyle Williams has taken advantage of his opportunity in some way. Talk a little bit about his play.

“He brings juice out there. The run he had, I thought that was a real fearless run the way he took that up in between the hash. We were talking about the middle of the field now, the way he ran up in there. One of the best stiff arms I’ve seen, not only this year but really ever seen. That was a classic stiff arm. Want to put that on the teach tape. He’s caught the ball over the middle well. He’s really shown some courage and also speed, quickness, catching ability. I think we really feel good about where Kyle is right now. He’s really asserting himself.”

Here are links for his 3 best plays. (His 2 REC TDS and his 1 Rush for 25 yds with a wicked stiff arm.)

I think the 25 yard rush is the most impressive of the big plays. (But I just like a fast player that does a wicked stiff arm.) :football:

It should be noted that Crabtree and Kyle Williams are the only 2 WR's signed past this next season. So I guess Ginn and Braylon are both Free Agents. And you can tell this Kyle Williams kid is making the case to be the WR2. He is the same size as Antonio Brown. (Who most would say is the 1B to Mike Wallaces 1A) So I'm not too worried about Kyle Williams size. :)

This article really sums him up pretty well

http://www.ninersnation.com/2011/12/6/2616356/kyle-williams-49ers-vs-rams-the-flash

I'd also like to note that at his combine his hamstring was a little sore and he ran a

4.41 40 yd dash.

At his pro-day he ran a

4.30 40 yd dash.

(Kid is stinking fast. He seems like a better work ethic and attitude version of DeSean Jackson.) (Please don't think I'm saying he is DeSean Jackson or better then him.) I'm just saying watching him there are some similarities.

Agree that we're seeing something for sure in KWill (a longtime Lammey favorite) and that he should have the inside track to start opposite Crabtree next year at this rate.

Been talking about Williams on The Audible since I saw him at Tx v Nation game a few years ago. Speed is evident, but I love his concentration, 'my ball' mentality, and aggressiveness as a runner with the ball in his hands.

From Pro Football Weekly:

Is 49ers diminutive Kyle Williams a fantasy force in the making? If fellow Niners WR Braylon Edwards continues to have problems with knee and shoulder injuries, that just might be the case. As mentioned last week, Williams has been compared with Wes Welker by some observers. Williams is lightning-quick in space and could be a useful tool on creative plays, which head coach Jim Harbaugh likes to use. Michael Crabtree has gotten steadily better as the Niners' No. 1 wideout but behind him, you might make a case for Williams at the moment as the top No. 2 fantasy receiver. Crabtree is a No. 2 fantasy WR against the Cardinals but let's watch Williams one more week before deciding to use him during the fantasy playoffs.

He's also someone I loved pre-draft in 2010 - looking only at collegiate on-field performance and combine results (i.e. with no subjective inputs). But when the NFL passes on you until the sixth there's usually something else going on so I figured that was the end for him.

Every now and then they do miss, though, so here are his closest comps if he'd been highly drafted:

Steve Smith (CAR)

Santonio Holmes

(gap)

Kyle Williams

Desean Jackson

Santana Moss

Definitely worth a flier IMO now that he's shown enough to bring his draft position into question.

I'd say if Kyle Williams keeps catching everything thrown his way like he has been. And keeps improving with the more snaps he is getting. He probably has slight edge over Josh Morgan. ONly because Williams is more explosive (ala Antonio Brown vs Emmanual Sanders)

Ahead of Morgan? (assuming they sign him)
I would guess open battle. At the moment he went down, Morgan was easily ahead, but Williams speed and post-catch playmaking ability could change that now... how Williams finishes this year will tell a lot. I would expect that SF re-signs Morgan though.

With limited snaps and halfway through the 2nd Qtr. Kyle Williams leads 49ers with 3 REC for 27yds. Man the kid is really surging at the right time.

Wide receivers: C-. Michael Crabtree played well against Patrick Peterson, a tough matchup, catching seven passes for 63 yards. He also made the key block downfield on Gore’s touchdown run. Kyle Williams played well the few times he got the ball. Braylon Edwards was slow to get out of his breaks all afternoon, and he missed both passes thrown his way. Ginn Jr. egregiously missed a touchdown pass, never even seeing the ball in the air. Kyle Williams needs to start and get more targets, period. Ginn Jr. should be used on the fly sweep and Edwards should not play.

Quick, great acceleration, imo typical slot receiver who can run good routes. I remember liking this pick and hoping he'd play slot much earlier than he did.

Besides Crabs, he is the best wide receiver on the roster to me.

Edwards looks to be done and Ginn has terrible hands.Deep dynasty leagues with deep rosters should take notice. In the 49ers offense, however, not much value for now besides deep leagues/deep dynasties.

Kyle Williams remains a guy with modest upside in an inconsistent 49ers passing attack. Michael Crabtree is the primary weapon, but the team is utilizing Williams a bit more frequently lately. Two weeks ago he had two receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown. This week he had four receptions for 42 yards. He has not blown up yet, but he is getting more and more looks.

Hopefully Alex Smith won't be chuckin' the rock to him for his entire career.

Watching this game right now. I don't know why the 49ers don't use Kyle Williams more often. The guy catches pretty much everything thrown his way. Pretty impressed.

Skills, he was usually the most dominant player on the field in college but I can't think of a time when he was healthy for any lengthy period of time. Always seems to have leg muscle problems.

Didnt realize he was the White Sox GM's son until tonight. Probably the first interesting point the MNF crew have told me that I didnt already know all season

Thought this was interesting

Coach Jim Harbaugh indicated that Braylon Edwards was a healthy scratch on Monday night. Edwards has been dealing with knee and shoulder issues, but that's not why he sat. "We went with the three," Harbaugh said. "Felt like (Kyle) Williams, (Ted) Ginn and (Michael Crabtree) gave us the best chance." Edwards may be active in Week 16 thanks to Ginn's ankle injury, but he's buried on the depth chart.

So maybe Williams is surpassing Braylon. Very interesting. Alex Smith seems to go to Kyle Williams as his safety blanket.

No #### he is almost as inaccurate as The Tebow. Some of his misses were just terrible

This was just posted about Kyle Williams

The head injury Kyle Williams sustained in Week 16 has been diagnosed as a concussion. Williams' concussion does not appear to be severe, but he still could be held out of Sunday's regular season finale. The Niners figure to take an extremely run-heavy approach against the Rams, using plenty of one-wide sets featuring Michael Crabtree. They'll need Williams as a starting wideout in the playoffs. He's officially No. 2 on the depth chart now after Braylon Edwards was released.

He blew the game, but the Niners had their chances. They didn't make enough plays in the passing game.

This ####in guy fair caught the ball when there were defenders only 30 yds away from him and when guys were right on top of his he returned it. #### him

He should have learned from watching Aaron Ross return punts today. I'm not really a Ross fan, but did you notice what he did with every punt return? Especially in the 2H and overtime? He ran north and south, got what yards he could, then wrapped up the ball with two hands and fell to the ground before any defenders could touch him. Smart football. That's a guy who has been coached well on special teams.

Williams is the goat of the day, no arguing that.

But he wasn't supposed to be the return guy... he only picked up those duties since Ginn was out.

Sucks to be him today.

It's all well and good to feel sorry for how he must feel, but the fact is that any player who has any sense of the value of turnovers would never have made those mistakes. They weren't flukes, they were totally avoidable.

On the first play, it's pretty basic stuff that if you're not going to make the catch, you get the hell away from any possibility of the bouncing ball hitting you. Instead, he was still inexplicably moving toward the thing. Just dumb.

And as Raider Nation just said, on the fumble you absolutely need to wrap up with both hands when you get into the traffic, not carry the damn ball like a loaf of bread. He was just begging to have it stripped. It wasn't even a hard strip, just a little poke and it was out. Awful.

Pretty sure everyone already knew he was the backup returner. Whatever - the guy was the backup returner last year as well, and had over 100 kick returns in college. As noted by others, he displayed poor fundamentals all day. Fair catching when guys were 10-15 yards away, NOT getting the #### away from a ball he didn't intend to field, and then being careless when he was returning a kick. Especially after the earlier muff, how the hell do you let that happen?

Funny. I was watching the game and jokingly shouting when Ross caught punts, "Go down! Get in the fetal position!"... and he kinda did. His job was to not loose the ball and give it to Eli.

As far as snaps go. This is kind of his rookie year. And the only reason he was the returner was cause Ginn was out. I think its kind of shortsighted to say because of a huge game and playoff one at that. Most rookie's returning punts or kicks would feel some heavy pressure to perform. Sorry guys. I think he is still a heck of a player that will only get better. To fault him for those 2 bad fumbles and say he is worthless and won't ever see the field because of it is a little premature in my opinion.

How many catches did he have today?
