Game Thread W14 - Indianapolis V Baltimore (1 Viewer)

Good luck, Colts fans. I know the Ravens have let down after big wins, but I don't see it happening today. 27-6 Ravens.

Ravens took care of business. The D was stout - although I'm sure there are a ton of bettors who want to throttle them for getting backdoored on the last play - and Suggs was magnificent. I thought Flacco looked as sharp as he has all year and spread the ball around to every receiver on the roster (Lee Evans sighting!), the O line played well for the most part, and Little Ray did his thing.

I know the Colts are down, but I'm still impressed by the Ravens intensity in this one.

Of note for Ratbirds observers should be the steadily improving play of Corey Redding. He's been excellent lately.

Sort of a hollow win with no Peyton in there but they can't worry about that. It's been noted before that things have lined up very nicely for them this year and they have to take advantage of every break they can. Four 10-3 teams in the AFC after yesterday.

I had a good time at the game yesterday, but it was kind of a "eh" affair. After taking that 7-0 lead on the first drive, it was pretty clear that the Colts didn't have a chance and it turned into the Ravens and the crowd just quickly grinding out a workmanlike day. The Ravens game was already in the third quarter and most other games hadn't even hit halftime yet.

Suggs cemented his lead in the Defensive MVP race - 3 sacks and 3 Forced Fumbles. Torrey Smith continues to give this offense a vertical dimension it's never had. More deep shots were there for the taking, but other than the one near miss, the Ravens just focused on ball control. Against opponents' 3-WR formations, Jimmy Smith now comes in to play one outside WR, with Webb moving into the slot, and Carey Williams staying where he is. Williams is now clearly the weak link -- if/when Carr is healthy, I would kind of like to see him in the slot, with Webb staying on the outside and Smith replacing Williams. Doubt it will happen, though.

I hope Ed Reed is saving himself for the playoffs, because he really can't hit or tackle right now.

Even from my recliner I could tell that the crowd was much more reserved than usual. It certainly would've been different had arch-nemesis Peyton Manning been in uniform but that's another one of the breaks going Baltimore's way this year (no New England on the schedule being another). How did your boy like the game?

Had a great time, thanks. As I thought, the spectacle and the fans around us were as much a part of the show to him as the game itself. And we were home by 4:30, thanks to the fast game, so it didn't even get cold and dark.

In time to watch another Tebow miracle!
