Has Any Athlete Ever Done So Much in a Single game (1 Viewer)

First person that came to mind was AJ Feely. Then I looked at his game log and realized he didn't really do that much. Next player was Matt Schaub. He came in as Michael Vick's backup in 2005 and put up 300 and 3 against the Pats. He's still collecting paychecks because of that game.

Kolb got starter money for being average at best, I'm sure Flynn could make major bucks if GB decided to trade him.

A lot (most GM's I would think) are going to see a guy who's probably more of a product of the system. Big fan of Flynn since his LSU days but it's not like he's some great talent. He'll probably parlay his success onto a starting job on a really bad team, get the boot after a few years and then bounce around as a career backup.

Easy gets over a $5 million a year deal. Probably would have been getting about $1 million prior to today. It was a good day to be Flynn.

Jake Delhomme went 8 for 9 in his only action as a Saints backup in 2002 (for Aaron Brooks) and turned that into a fat contract with Carolina.

Kevin Kolb last season comes to mind as well, but that was over two games.

Larry Brown in the Super Bowl for the Cowboys is a great one. Two INT's against Pittsburgh translated into a $12M contract from the Raiders

As long as we're speculating -- is it possible that Flynn just cost Rodgers the MVP? Brees is getting a lot more talk due to smashing Marino's record obviously, but I wonder if seeing a backup QB put up those huge numbers just ever-so-slightly diminishes what Rodgers has done.

The Packers without Rodgers would be much better than the Saints without Brees. Drew Brees has to be MVP

The UDFA, last round pick QBs who are able to stay on a roster seem to be very successful in the NFL. Much moreso than mid round draft picks.Tom Brady, Marc Bulger, Kurt Warner, Matt Hasselbeck, Trent Green, Tony Romo, Jake Delhomme.

Great one.How much was the contract Dexter Jackson got after his 2 Super Bowl INT's for Tampa? He signed with Zona the next year and the Steelers drafted Polamalu once they lost out on their FA bid.

First name that came to mind for me was Rob Johnson, who had a big week for Jacksonville in 1997. Traded to the Bills for a 1st round and 4th rounder and signed a $25 million contract.

Matt Schaub is pretty good though.

He should've just been average today. That way he could sit behind Aaron Rodgers and collect championships, still getting paid decent money. Now he is going to get 1 big contract which uncle sam is gonna taking half of and with that comes a huge load on his shoulders. He'll end up broke and nobody will remember him in 5 years. I think he made a mistake today. He could've been a no name lower upper class guy with Superbowl rings and stories.

He already has one ring and may get another. I don't care how much taxes they take, he will still get 10 times more in this one contract than he will riding the pine for 10 seasons. Who would not want to see if they have what it takes to be a star?

:lmao:Im pretty sure every backup QB in the NFL wants to be a starter.

Great game by Flynn

He did make himself a ton of cash

What teams run a system that is like GB's?

I would think that a team that misses out on one of the top QB's in the draft will make him an offer

not really.Kolb's not one game.Delhomme played meh as a rook and then sat on sideline and could only find time in NFLE. He did well in NFLE then well in preseason, then that game he was cool under pressure and brought them to a victory over the Cowboys on MNF IIRC and those Saints were not often on MNF. It was dramatic and after Warner, people's eyes were squarely on NFLE for backup QBs. Several NFL QBs came from NFLE back then.

And it wasn't just one game either
It pretty much was.
no it wasn'tHe was with Atlanta for three years. He got a start his rookie year and his second year. He did not get a start his third year. In his second year, he threw 3 or 4 TDs in a game and caught people's attention. There was a whole 'nother year with the Falcons til he played/signed with the Texans. His preseason play and reputation got him the Texans chance more than anything and IIRC they signed someone else just in case, like Rex Grossman.

don't the RFAs get signed before the draft??
Is he a RFA, or a FA?
sorry - just looked, he is a UFA. Still, I am sure he will be signed before the draft rolls around.
I don't believe he can be.I'm still learning new CBA stuff as it came up too late and preseason came on so fast at that point, but...I believe once the regular season ends teams can't negotiate anymore. Point being that the market(which NFLPA always thinks raises the value) will dictate the salary not some GM.BTW I still don't care for Alex Smith and think San Fran could use (what's construed as) a sure thing at QB for a change.

I don't think Curtis Painter did.

Not sure how you're disagreeing with me here.

:confused:FA starts in early March. The draft is in late April. He'll have a contract before the draft.

you're right, I was thinking different time frame. In that case, his agent will probably hustle to have him signed before the draft.

he threw 161 regular season passes and rocked in preseason before he signed with the Texans

Ryan Fitzpatrick
not at all.Dude stunk as a rook in a great Rams O.Martz adorned him with some love as a future QB to keep an eye on in several press conferences and people raised an eyebrow or two. He then went to Cincy for two years and had like 4 wins for the year in typical Cincy fashion. In Buff, it took him another three years til he had a season worth even mentioning. He's a highly intelligent guy that was able to keep his career alive by overwhelming GMs in interviews. Yale? I don't know, but it was a long time from when he was drafted til he became good for the Bills. 7-8 years I'd guess

Some voting purists may discount Brees's achievements due to the 11 dome games. Larry Brown is a GREAT call.

totally agree on Brown and IIRC there was a DB the year before or the year after that similarly shined in the big game, got a big deal, and stunk after.

Matt Flynn just became a Packers trivia answer.

Name the QB to have the most TDs in one game and most yards?

- Starr

- Favre

- Rodgers

- Dickey

- Detmer

- Kiel

- Flynn

LaRue Martin became the #1 pick in the 1972 NBA draft solely because he outplayed Bill Walton in a college basketball game.

Of course, he didn't make nearly as much money as Flynn will make, but he's the only guy who came to mind.

Delhomme was Warner's backup in NFLE.
