IMO, getting into the territory where QBs get really bunched together. I'd rather swing with Luck here than the rest, feeling I could get a decent back-up, like Shaub, later, who won't be far behind guys like Roeth and Ryan anyway.

Frankly, I don't understand how much value people here give to potential. Luck and Griffin MAY be good. They may even be as good as Big Ben, Vick, Ryan or Manning...some day. Maybe. Or they may not.

We are talking about the QB8, which means if you draft this guy here you are committing to him as your starting QB for the next several years. Isn't that a bit risky considering they haven't taken a snap in the NFL? And more than likely, they will play with crappy teams. I prefer Big Ben, but I would take any of the four vets here above the two rookies at this point. I don't want a rookie as a starting QB for me. In my league, none of these guys will be drafted in the first round of our rookie draft--or at best, at the end.

I think this is a testament to the growing perceived value of the QB position. People, especially in leagues that give 6 pt pass TDs, are realizing the benefits of having an elite QB. So, they are getting increasingly hard to trade for. With this being the case the only reasonably priced way to grab an elite QB is through the draft. Nobody wants to miss out on the next Stafford or Newton. With Luck and RG3 being two of the best QB prospects in a long time, and with all the experts raving about them, it is easy to envision them vaulting to Newton-esque value with quality rookie years.

I disagree about how hard it is to aquire elite QB's in fantasy football. All the dynasty leagues that I play in have 6pts for TD's and its way easier for me to trade for an elite QB then it is for me to aquire an elite RB or WR. So in my drafts I prefer to draft elite WR's and RB's and let other people draft a rookie QB that may or may not hit and if they do hit I can always trade for the QB if I need one.

In my league Rodgers was traded, but only because it was for Matt Ryan, Jordy Nelson, the 1.04 in 2012, and 2013 1st and 2nd rounders. Newton and Stafford are also untouchable unless it is an insane offer like the one for Rodgers, and even guys like Brady and Brees are hard to get because they are on contenders who realize the drop from guys like Brees and Brady to those like Romo and Ben. Maybe it's just the different owners in our league, but elite QBs are valued more than elite RBs now. For example, a month after the blockbuster Rodgers deal I made a trade in which I gave up Jimmy Graham (TE=WRs), Steven Jackson, the 1.12, and my 2013 1st for LeSean McCoy. They are both considered the best at their position and it was considerably easier to pry mcCoy away from his owner than it was for the guy to pry Rodgers from his.You act like every time you draft elite WRs and RBs they are going to hit. These 'elite' guys are just as, if not more, likely to fail to pan out than Luck or RG3. Personally, I would take Luck or RG3 over BLackmon in a heartbeat. Fact is all rookies 'may or may not hit', but since Luck and RG3 are raved about and respected so much by all the experts, it seems more likely that they will succeed than they will not.

I don't know how you got out of what I said that elite RB's and WR's are going to hit. That's just ridiculous talk there. A lot of this probably also has to do with a leagues starting requirements also.

I can imagine almost no possibility that walking into a start up dynasty.... I would take Romo over Griffin.

Maybe if you said I wasn't able to land any other QB on my entire roster - then I might consider it.

I guess my fantasy gauges and meters are way off.
