Posted: 12:14 pm April 08, 2012 Playoff schedule released, Pens-Flyers drop puck first on Wednesday Save the best for last? Not the NHL, not in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The league released the schedule for all the series on Sunday and the first to get started will be the 4/5 matchup in the East between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers. A lot of people, including me, expect this to be the best series in the postseason, with the animosity between the intrastate rivals, not to mention their talent. The 4/5 matchup in the West gets started in Nashville just about the same time, only 30 minutes later. If Philadelphia-Pittsburgh isn't going to be the best series of the first round, I'll take this series as my next guess. The only series that has to wait? The Panthers and Devils. It will be the last to get under way, not dropping the puck until Friday. Hey, when you've waited 12 years like the Panthers have, what's one more day? One cool feature this year is that every game is going to be broadcast nationally in the States. So you can watch whichever series you want from start to finish. This was perhaps the best addition to this year's playoff format. Kudos to the NHL and NBC for swinging that deal. why would anyone be scared of the Devils? They only got into the playoffs because they were great in shootouts and Brodeur is well past his prime. That is one juicy first round matchup between the Flyers and Pens. I don't think anyone wants to play the Devils right now in the East, or Preds in the West.

Devils offense has looked good lately but I agree, no reason to trust Brodeur anymore. I would not be surprised if the Panthers won that series.why would anyone be scared of the Devils? I do get a chance to watch them play a lot, and DeBoer's got them playing hard. They have good scoring depth and are getting hot at the right time. Brodeur is definitely past his prime, but his playoff experience could be big for them. I don't see them getting to the Finals, but could win a couple of rounds.why would anyone be scared of the Devils? You don't need to score a ton of goals if your goalie is standing on his head. Again, it all depends on how Quick is playing. If he slumps, the Kings can't keep up.Ahh right.. I forgot how much of an offensive juggernaut the Kings have become under Darryl Sutter.

No you don't, but you can't expect to shut out the other team every night. Just seems like there's too much focus being put on how great Quick is, when really, everyone should be asking, "where the hell are the goals going to come from?"You don't need to score a ton of goals if your goalie is standing on his head. Again, it all depends on how Quick is playing. If he slumps, the Kings can't keep up.

Plus, Kopitar, Williams, and Brown are all proven scorers, and Doughty on the blue line. Also add Mike Richards, who has all the grit of guy you want out there in a playoff series. The more I think of it, the more I like the Kings chances in the series.Kings are averaging 2.6 goals in their last 10. It certainly seems like their offense has picked up after they brought in Jeff Carter to give them more balance on their top 2 lines.

Yeah, he knows he was wrong about his comments and paid a steep price (hopefully reimbursed by James Dolan). But after potentially losing an important role player like Stepan, he was hot.
He's a guy I love having coach my team though.
