I do know the guy picking at 12 really likes Newton. Maybe I could swing some sort of trade that would also include the 1.01 pick for the rookie draft next month. Maybe swap first round picks in both drafts.
I'm open to any thoughts.

Just throwing in my two cents, if it's not too late. I would at least consider Matthew Stafford in this spot as well. He has been great when healthy, plays in an extremely pass-happy offense, and doesn't rely on rushing touchdowns as much as Newton. I love Newton but I currently rank him just behind Stafford because I believe his rushing totals will decline (at least the touchdowns). It's just a thought.
But while Stafford didn't rely on rushing TDs he did rely on an extremely high number of attempts that is unlikely to be repeated.

I was leaning that way. Grabbing Newton at six and than trying to get Julio Jones or DeMarco Murray in the 2nd round. I just was wondering if Matthews would work his way up towards that 1st tier now that Tolbert is in Carolina. Lot more oppurtunities coming his way this year.
You'd probably be very lucky to see Julio there that late. Most startups I have seen he is one of the first 4 WR's off the board, even saw him go in the mid-1st as the 2nd WR taken.
I would recommmend trading back if you can. WR is deep so moving back into the late 1st or early 2nd can still net you a top notch WR like a Nicks and you should be able to wring some pretty nice value out of what you receive for the move down. If you can swing a deal with the #12 guy where you get the #1 rookie by all means do it. If that won't work, you may also consider moving back to the 10 or 11 as well so that you can draft Andrew Luck as your QB and then focus on young WR's or RB's with your Vet draft picks.
I didn't realize that people still did split initial drafts still... owning the rights to Trent Richardson is like having an extra 1st round pick in a startup, that's a massive advantage. I'd rather have the 12 than the 1st overall pick in that setup easy.
