Topics I've Started

Got a lump of coal

26 December 2012 - 08:08 PM

Lucky enough to get kidney stones for Christmas. Spent 2.5 hours in terrible pain, finally went to ER for some sweet, sweet IV pain relief. Terrible pain that I would only wish on a few people. BTW, I asked the doctor about the 2.5 hours, and he said it can last 2-3 days. I'd probably shoot myself.

NHL Lockout

06 December 2012 - 05:30 PM

First of all, I didn't want to post this in the NHL thread so that can stay dedicated to news. I'd like to know what hockey fans intend to do when the two sides agree and hockey resumes. Personally, it's getting a little tiresome watching millionaires and billionaires squabble over the fans' money. I live in Vancouver, and while not a big hockey fan, enjoy going to a game now and then. Unfortunately for me, I have been priced out of the NHL, and I'm sure that once hockey resumes, tickets will go right back to the ridiculous prices. So hockey fans, or baseball fans from 1994, or anyone else, how do we feel about lockouts/strikes? Is there any hope for a fan rebellion? Is there a point where they lose enough fans to force drastic changes?

New Orleans Pelicans

05 December 2012 - 02:48 PM

For at least 20 years, new teams have come in with terrible names. Panthers, Jaguars, Magic, Heat, Thunder, Lightning, Panthers(NHL), Raptors, Grizzlies, Hornets, Wizards etc. Rockies and Marlins aren't bad, but the rest are awful. It is a weak attempt by marketing teams trying to figure out what might be cool. After all that dreck, we finally get a breath of fresh air coming from a top notch city that brought us one of the best names in football. I don't know what has happened to society, but if the Yankees, Red/White Sox, Packers, Knicks, Maple Leafs, Dodgers, Steelers, Red Wings came out now, those names would never exist. I couldn't be happier to see a non run of the mill "tough" name for a team. I will carry a soft spot in my heart for that team, and may even buy a jersey. Pelican Power

Defenseless Receiver - Spearing

01 November 2012 - 07:12 PM

Even before concussions became all the rage, leading with your helmet was illegal. The refs called it spearing. Now it seems a perfectly legal hit on a "defenseless" receiver is a flag, but a blatant spear on a non defenseless receiver is fair game. What in the world is going on at NFL HQ.

Technology is hard

23 October 2012 - 07:45 PM

I am behind the world of technology. I'm hoping those technological wizards who visit the FFA can help those of us who just don't get it. Any and all links/info to help would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to start with downloading music/movies. I know nothing since Limewire. I assume that is lo longer an option.
