If a repair shop took your car for a test drive

...who is responsible?

A co-worker took his truck into a repair shop and told them it felt like it was wobbling and shaking. When at home, he gets a call from the shop telling him that when the mechanic took his car out to evaluate the dealie, his rear wheel fell off and hit a woman's BMW, knocking off her mirror and denting her door.
