In Topic: 2013 Dynasty "Sell High"

My vote goes to Ray Rice. It was scary owning him in so many Dynasty leagues last year and watching Pierce come in and be just as effective if not better.

I actually bought Ray Rice in a couple of leagues this year based on that perception. I did get Pierce as part of the deal, but still feel we have several good/great years left from him.

Rice is significantly more dynamic than Pierce. Pierce, to me, is just a pretty good RB, I would even call him above average. Nothing wrong with that. I think he can be very effective as a wear them down kind of guy, he runs strong. I don't see any great agility and he is lightly used in the passing game. I think Pierce seems a bit overrated on this message board.

Rice got 254 carries and 61 receptions through 15 weeks. That is 21 touches per game, and he actually got a bit more per game from weeks 9-16 than he did in weeks 1-7 (not including week 17 when Baltimore sat their starters). I have no problem with that level of use, and I think he will be right around there for several years.

Actually, Pierce appears more dynamic to me. He isn't going to take the job from Rice due to his versatility and reliability, but Rice isn't a dynamic player. The other point to remember is the jump that 2nd year players take when the game slows down...Pierce is one to watch.

The problem is you will just have to be patient. As for selling high on Rice, I think it may be worth checking into, but certainly hard to trade a player that productive.

Brian Quick is severely undervalued. He looks the part of a #1 and should progress nicely this year. He can also be had for peanuts.

In Topic: [DYNASTY] Is Jonathan Stewart a buy low?

I disagree.  I will say it for the 195th time ;): Stewart needs too many things to turn around and go his way for him to even get the touches and goal line carries necessary to be a very good FF RB in '13, and that is assuming he can stay healthy; we know Sproles is gonna get touches when he is healthy, plain and simple.  Sure, Stewart is more likely to be a workhouse back, but even though he is younger than Sproles, he has already had more injuries than him, so the odds are stacked against him.  Sproles should go 2-4 rounds ahead of Stewart simply because you know he is gonna produce when he is playing and healthy; the same cannot be said for Stewart (who could be healthy and either not be the starting RB still or not be used right again by the clueless Carolina coaching staff).  Sproles is on a team that knows exactly how to use him; Stewart is not.  That is certainly worthy several rounds when it comes to drafting, IMO.

Your mentality seems to be more redraft and less dynasty.  If we are only talking about next season then you are absolutely right...but we are not.  Stewart is 26.

I have an idea.  Let's try to look at this logically for once.  It was risky to put Castillo on that side of the ball.  He did have a learning curve, as did the defense due to all the new faces.  However, take a look at the facts:

1.  Castillo hadn't coached defense for years, and an adjustment period was expected.
2.  Castillo is one of the best teachers in the game, and understands that practice, repetition, and muscle memory are the ingredients to "playing fast."
3.  The Eagles were #1 in sacks.
4.  The Eagles were #8 in total defense.
5.  They didn't have an off-season to gel considering all the new coaching and players.
6.  They showed A LOT of improvement as the season progressed.

You see poor decisions and bad performance through your pessimistic view.  I see taking a risk on Castillo, when he knew he would be heavy criticized and even laughed at, as good leadership and guts.  I see potential in Castlo and this defense, and if you look at the facts you should be able to see it as well.

This is such a shame.  He may never be the same.  He will be 28 and old for a running back when he will have the opportunity to be back at 100%.  Will always be the best I ever saw live.
