Bruce - cool program. This is how I have a tendancy to draft, just as you have in the "Best Value" option. But here is why I have asked about the option to modify baselines in the past:
My league has a tendancy to draft QB's much higher than FBG's & DD show. After seeing the new version of DD, it is apparent to me that a "baselined" static list is still used to come up with the number of players to evaluate before your next pick (in the best value view). In other words, it seems as if it counts down the list the number of spots that the user has selected and figures out how many of each position should be counted to configure the dynamic value. I totally agree with the method, and have used this theory. However, I would really like to conform my "static" list to a truer form closer to how my league drafts. The only way that I can figure out how to do this (and still use this program) is to somehow modify the baselines to how I would like them to be.
I am in no way bashing your product, but the contrary, I think it is awesome. But can you at least see my point when it comes to being able to adjust baselines?
Thanks.

I see what you are saying. Can't you just say you need two QBs... thus making them more valuable and get the same results that you are looking for?

Maybe, but I am attempting to be a little more calulated than that. It seems as if I'm the only one with an issue on it and it also seems as if I have hit a brick wall with you. So I'll drop it. Thanks.

JimiT don't drop it. It's one of the 5 most important improvements the DD has needed since day1. I have requested it several times and tried to explain the importance of allowing users to tweak baselines for their league and personal tastes.
The custom b/l can either be a specific rank of pos (i.e. qb#10) or a fantasy point value by pos which I prefer.
Bruce is this in the works for a future 2003 release?
Thanks

I'll add my voice to this forum as well. All I need is to be able to assign each player his base/static VBD. I have my own spreadsheet where I have my projections and everythigg else that goes into that. It would be a very easy addition. Just have an optional page where you can enter your own VBD and if that is filled in it overrides the projections and imbedded calculations and uses the overwritten number instead.

Ok I won't drop it. I guess I felt as if I was the only one barking up Bruce's tree. His responses to me have been somewhat subversive about the subject - neither saying yea or nea to this being an addition in the future.
I would really like to use a valuable tool like this on draft day, but I have to be able to feel comfortable with the lists it is creating before I'll use it for real.

I'm in a similar frame. The DD now allows you to change how far it looks ahead manually. I'd like to see it allow you to manually input how many QB, RBs, WRs will be picked in that time frame. I'd also like it to allow you to use the ADP for that calculation as a second option or even inport a second ADP for comparison purposes.
Great app though !

Bruce I've tried tweaking the #starters to move the baseline around and it is working very nicely - thanks!
For example to account for RB pos scarcity/supply/demand I have changed RB starters to 2.1 (start 2 RB) which moves the baseline down for RB and increases their vbd to where I wanted it.
For K and D I changed the # starters down from 1 so they don't start showing up on my overall list before I would consider them.
By playing with the starters you can basically end up with the same result as custom baselines.

I don't know if this is really a weakness of the program but maybe more a weakness of your league. In leagues that overvalue QBs, you can still get a very productive one later. I don't think you should join the trend but benefit from it by following the VBD. The more important question is: when does your league start choosing backup QBs? I'd still go with the projections and DVBD as is.

If you agree with the rankings... then with the Dynamic DD, the static baselines are not even used... it calculates the dropoff on the fly using the Projected Fantasy Points for each position, and that becomes your new baseline...
I do agree that it would be useful to enter how many players you think are going to be taken... thus given you more control over the dropoff values, and the end dynamic vbd. But most people do not even know what the dropoffs are going to be... and they would have to be recalulated with each pick. In order to keep things clean, we let the DD do these calculations for you. Our goal was to get something that would be useful and easy to use right out of the gate. The refinements will come in future releases. The future might be next year though...
